Post by Anie »

Hi.
My husband has erectil disfunction and viagra type drugs prescribed by the doctor don't work either. He just can't get an erection :(

Is there anybody (or was)in same situation?

I mean, what is the best treatment using his sperm?
Can you also explain me step-by-step the procedure?

We are thinking in going to see the GP next month but would like to know about some personal experience.

Thank you very much.

Hi anie,
Im not in the same situation as you, my hubby does not have that problem - his problems is no sperm at all. My heart really goes out to you and although im no expert, im sure they will be able to do something a long the lines of getting the Sperm straight from the testies and putting it into you that way. See if you can find a Fertility Clinic to phone and im sure they will be able to give you heaps of advise.

Take care and i hope you find some help real soon - not knowing is sometimes so much harder than knowing and it not being the exact news you hoped for.
Its not our ideal way of having a family, but i know its going to be our ideal family.

Thank you Polly for your reply :)

If you don't mind me asking, what treatment did you do?
Although the problem is not the same,it seems that the treatment will or could be the same....
Did it work for you?
How it's done?

I'm sorry bothering with so many questions but,you know,i'm new here so with loads of questions too... :?:

Any reply is very helpful :)

Hi Anie!

I'm in the exact same boat as you....it sucks big time. :( I know this is personal, but is he able to orgasm at all? That was our problem along with the ED.

We've tried everything and I mean everything to get his sperm. We saw a urologist who had a device similar to a vibrator that he placed on my husband's penis to get him to orgasm---didn't work. We tried using different techniques similar to that in our home...didn't work. They can do a testicular biopsy to get the sperm. It's not enough for AI, but can be enough for IVF. With my husband's health problems, we've decided to go with donor sperm and are trying in a month.

If you have any questions, or just need to talk, feel free to email me at tammywondra@yahoo.com

I know it's tough...hang in there hon. :) Email me ANYTIME!!! :) :)

Hi there,
Im glad a few other ladies have jumped on this thread and offered you support and advice. My situation is very different -we have to use a donor, if you can get some sperm out of hubby - as Nicola suggested she thinks you have a high chance if they can do the biopsy - then you won't have to go down this track.....however if you do have to use a donor - that too is such a blessing and im sure you will find loads of support on this site.

we are still waiting to get Donor Sperm - it will be inserted into my uterus (with a syringe - same as sex - but a little closer to the egg).

If you have IVF they wil put your hubbys sperm and egg together in the lab and insert it into you. Check out the links to info down the side of this website - there is loads of useful info here to find out about the medical procedures.
Its not our ideal way of having a family, but i know its going to be our ideal family.

Hello Ladies.

After reading all your post here and analysing my situation, I think we will have to do a biopsy.
I'm just getting to my own conlusions without even talking with a doctor!

Only in May we will be able to start this jouney until there i guess i'll have to patience.

Tammy:
No he can't get an orgasm so that's why i think it will has to be biopsy...

Anie~ My husbands problem is that his sperm does not come out when he ejaculates. They used a needle and got the sperm out of his balls and we are able to use it for IVF/ICSI. That sounds like what you will have to do as well. Hang in there and keep forgeing foreward, you will get through this.

Question about some of the abreviations

Post by Cherie »

:D What does BFP stand for and DH?? I have read several profiles and could not figure it out. Anyway, I am new here and looking to connect with some ladies who can relate to my situation. I am 37yo, trying almost 10years and have done fertility approaches for 1 1/2 years and have been seeing a fertilitist since 10/2006. I have had 4 unsuccessful IUI and getting ready for IVF to start June-July. If anyone has a similar story to mine and would like to talk with me please do not hesitate. Looking forward to hearing from you! :D Thank You, Cherie
