avoid tilting your pelvis forward. 2.when you sit, elevate your legs.
3. wear shoes that give your feet support.
4.if you cant elavete your legs ,then with your legs bent and your feet supported on a foot stool.
5.avoid standing for long preiods of time.while standing, stand with one foot elavated. like on the bottom of the cuboard while washing dishes.
6.sleep on a good mattress. if it is a saggging mattres, you can shore it up with putting a piece of plywood under it. .
7.lying down, having a masasage ,and heating the area may sooth aching muscles
i hope some of this helps!!!!
i just copied out of a book...

love beck

suggestion on preventing backache

Post by scorry »

Hi Folks,

I've had sciatica and numbness down my left leg and bottom since week 17, I am now 32 1/2 weeks, and get sore backs alot, I've found the best cure is a birthing ball, as it works by getting the baby to shift position and corrects your posture at the same time!

Scorry

Hi Beck,

A birthing ball is just a large inflatable ball, you can use the exercise balls if you like, they come in different sizes, some labour wards have them, they are particularly helpful if you are in labour with an OP baby, (this is a face to pubes/his back against your back), which can make for a very long and painful labour as the baby can take ages to turn (usually 20 hours+).
The birthing ball helps to turn the baby , as you can swivel your hips, which in turn helps to open the pelvis more + with the help of gravity encourages the baby to turn/and move down.
Hope I explained that okay?
You can get them from NCT website

Scorry
