Hello,
I am new to this site. I am 32, but did not respond well to my 1st cycle and it was cancelled Wednesday. I was on follistem, lupron, and low dose HCG. Now I have to wait for my period to start again. Has anyone been through this? How long does it usually take for your period to arrive?
Any positive advice or stories would be great! We thought we were only dealing with male issues, but now we are worried that I did not have enough large follicles... Frustrating!
Thanks!

For the most part the first ivf cycle is a test of how your body will respond to the medications.
DH has zero sperm so we thought it would just be male factor for us as well. However, after some tests the doctors learned that I have a mild case of PCOS.
During my first cycle I created too many follicles, yet none of them were mature enough. To top it off my E2 reached 7000 before retrieval. They cancelled my cycle and AF arrived about two weeks late.
Your doctor will likely consult with the head of the clinic to determine where to start with you next time.
Stay positive.
I'm now in my 2ww after a great second round of ivf so a cancellation isn't the end all of your ivf journey.
Male Factor Infertility/PCOS
1st IVF July 2006 cancelled due to E2=7000
Laparoscopy September 2006
2nd IVF July 2007 (in the 2ww)
My first ivf cycle was cancelled too because of poor response (it sounds like I was on the same protocol as you--lupron, follistim etc). It was a huge downer for me BUT my second cycle was successful and produced my beautiful 3 year old daughter!
Like someone else said, the first cycle is often a test cycle to see how you will respond. Now your RE knows what doesn't work for you and will probably put you on different protocol next time. FYI my second protocol was birth control pills for 10 days followed by stims (gonal f and follistim) then stims combined with antagon for 5 days. Then nothing for 2 days then the trigger.
