Hi tammy, i did acupuncture on my last FEt and i am pregnant with twins, having had 2x 2day 4cell embryo's put back. i had acupuncture twice a month in the months running up to my cycle, and then i had a session 2 days before ET and once again 2 days after. I decided to try everything i could this time as i was running out of embryos and did not want to do another fresh cycle. I feel it really helped keep me calm and gave me a more positive outlook.
good luck to you.

Hi,
I tried acupuncture on my MD's orders after 2 failed IVF's & 1 failed FET. The first time I was going through another FET. I had 2-3 treatments in the few weeks before transfer & one treatment approx 1 hour before the tranfer. I can't even tell you how much more relaxed it made the whole cycle. I ended up with a very short term chemical pregnancy that time. A couple of months later I did a fresh IVF cycle with the same amount of treatments and again most importantly, right before the transfer. Again, the entire cycle was easier, more relaxed. I made 23 eggs with lower doses of follistim(it was also a microdose flare protocal which I tolerated much, much better). Now I'm just a little over 12 weeks pregnant.
The ET's that I had before acupuncture, I was very nervous even with the valium they give you. Sometimes I would even get a nervous stomach right before the transfer. After acupuncture, I felt great -just really sleepy.

I did acu on my 2nd IVF which resulted in BFN. We had one less embryo to transfer than the first one and lower quality. I started the acu treatments before stims and long after ET.

I didn't do accupuncture and got a BFP. You can see from my signature that it didn't stick around. Not sure I would do accupuncture....maybe I would, I read in a few places that a couple of recent studies showed that outcomes weren't as good when accupuncture was used. Who knows, not sure how big the population of the study was or if it could have been biased in some way.

I started accupuncture at the end of Oct and my ER was Dec 20 and ET, Dec 25. I had two sessions each week up until the ER. Then I had 1 session before and 1 after the ET. I got a BFP!!  I am now 7 weeks pregnant. This was my first IVF. I had tried everything else and I must say that I was less stressed and just overall felt better this go round. I would recommend accupuncture.

A new trick for immediate calm during ET

Post by LostGirl »

Hi,
I didn't get acupuncture because I was under the impression that it helps mostly with growing one's lining and mine was 14mm. I decided to get massages up until the ER and then just try to remain calm. Looking back, I wish I had done acupuncture if only because you can still get stuck with needles during the two week wait, and you cannot get massages, not even pregnancy massage.

Anyway, I stayed calm during the ET by having my dh put his head on my head. His hands are big and warm, and anytime he puts them on my head I'm so relaxed and near sleep. I think my heartbeat when down to resting rate, 55 bpm per minute. it's a really cool trick and apparently not all in my head, there's some science to having a spouse's touch calm a person, especially in close couples.

Study is here:

Hi ladies!
I did acupuncture- have been doing it off and on for about 10 months off and on- partly to prepare myself for natural pregnancy (which didn't happen) and partly due to my back surgery, and pain etc.
took a break from it for about 2 mos or so, then Since starting the IVF, I went 2xs while on BCP (which was 35 days!!!!!)

then 3xs during meds. last time was morning before trigger.
my accu doesn't do a lot of needles on me- maybe 3, and little mounds of moxa (some sort of root that she heats) seems to work!

I feel great ER was yesterday, PIO shot last night and a lot of sleep yesterday! They retreived 16 eggs, don't know yet if any were mature or have fertilised - we shall see....

I did acu on my first IVF attempt. 2 sessions in the stim weeks and a session immediately before and after transfer. I got a BFN. To be honest, I didn't find it relaxing at all and will not be doing it this cycle. I had a couple of massages while waiting for AF to arrive, and will probably have a weekly massage while stimming. I'm hoping that keeps me good and relaxed. Good luck to you... :D
