Hello all - hope you had good weekends and lots of catch-up sleep.
My weekend was fine - felt a bit less sick, but still very tired. Today I feel like falling asleep right now.
Denise - sorry to hear about the hemmorhoids - hope I don't get them. I'm too nervous about preparing baby stuff yet. I think we'll wait a while.
My latest symptom is spots. Lots of teenage pubescent zits. I look like someone's punched my cheeks. Beautiful.
Anyone planning any holidays for the 2nd trimester? We're going to Scotland for a week at the end of July. DH's family live there and we'll tell them the good news. They live 10 hours drive from us, so we don't see them much. It's beautiful countryside there, with lovely beaches and mountains, so it's a lovely trip. Just not sure about the drive. (I guess that's not so long if you live in US/Canada, but it's huge here in UK!) Then also planning a week in France at the end of August. DH wants to go camping, but I refused! Don't think sleeping on the ground will be the best choice at 20 weeks pregnant!
My 4th of July weekend was so short - I wish it was longer!!! too many cookouts to go to..
Denise - Sorry about your Hemmorides - hope they go away! I bet it's painful..
Tin - I'm jealous you are going to scotland it's so beautiful - I have never really been there but seen you know the discovery channel about it and read about it and such.
Chelly -How are you doing?
Jenn - Hopefully you are relaxing and taking easy and not working too hard!
Girls, we bought our car - We end up getting a minivan ( Dodge Grand Caravan ) for the twins and our 3 yr old.
it's 2008 model and it's so cool - has my GIG touch screen system..it also includes two dvd players and you can play different movies on each!!
so much room and so comfortable - my twins are gonna love it!!

sameera- congrats on buying the van...sounds like a very cool deal. Maybe I'll start looking into those after #2 comes along
Our 4th weekend was uneventful...south texas has been in a drought most of the spring but we finally got some much needed rain and it dropped the temperature.
tinnots- I am getting zits on my chest, like I am 16 again! TMI is "too much information" ie watch out what I am about to say is gross! I haven't had a problem shaving my legs, but I have a nice mustach that I ususally bleach but is now growing out. Lets see how long I can go before getting mistaken for a man! Unless DH is going to pack a blow up bed for you, then I would say camping is def out. We don't have any roadtrips planned as of yet, I get carsick really bad (before PG too) so we pick & choose were to go. Plus gas is getting ridiculously high, and we would rather stay home and save money for the nursery as we are starting from scratch.
Denise- I am holding on to the hope that the m/s goes away very soon. I have a dumb question though....how would I know if I had a hemmorhoid?? Would I feel it? I am pretty regular and have never had a problem with constipation. I was 'backed up' one time, and I drank an Activia smoothie....whoa, that stuff worked within 2 hours! The key is not to drink it at work, or else you'll spend a few hours running back and forth to the toilet!!
God Bless!

Sameera- the van sounds good. Hopefully we won't need anything like that with just the 1 kid. Scotland is as beautiful as the Discovery channel shows - as long as it stops raining long enough to enjoy it! I love going there - we go about twice a year to see the in-laws. They're too frail to travel now.
Chelly - it's funny to be filling in this glamorous picture of all of us! Hairy fat women with spots and crusty nips! I wonder what you all really look like! We should do 'before' and 'after' shots!
Shame you get car sick. I'm not too bad normally. DH has to drive a lot for work, so our gas bill is huge anyway. Hopefully we will take the train to France. I have travelled so much for work, that I have loads of loyalty points on the Eurostar train that goes from London to Paris and we should be able to get there for free - even first class! (shame I won't be able to take advantage of free champagne!)
Chelly, trust me you can feel a hemmorhoid. Its like a big grape hanging from the side of your ass hole, pardon the word. And mine never has anything to do with constipation. I've never been constipated in my life.
Yeah for mini vans Sameera. We'll be heading there shortly too.
IUI twins ~ July 2006
IUI singleton ~ due Jan 15 2009
I generally post in "over 40 crowd" under General but since I was pg again and I started to read your thread and I started to lurk here since its infancy so I basically feel like part of you already! I am one month behind you all lovely ladies, hence I occasionally post in "feb 2009 Mom" thread also.
Anyway, I won't be posting regularly but you ladies are all too funny and I had to say something here.
Chelly, I think you are getting a boy since his hormones have already started to show in your fast-growing hairs! Guess you want to find out at 20 wks scan? I am from SA originally and I had my first and only fresh IVF there, I wonder whether you used the same center? Dr. Neal used to be my RE and I like him very much. I also liked Dr. Pool the embryologist.
Again, thanks for letting me butt in and I am going back to the lurk doom now.

children- My RE was Dr Neal too!! I loved him....I know Dr. Martin is the main doc in the office, but he rubbed me in the wrong way. Dr. Neal was way more laid back, and he/we were successful with our 1st IVF! I would totally recommend him to anyone. The nurses were really nice too....was Elena there when you were going? She was my favorite, Irene too. The office staff however weren't that smart. Once I got PG, I had to have my labs sent out to LabCorp for Humana to pay for it, and twice they ran it in house and tried to charge me! I said, no way b/c I tell them everytime to send it out. I will miss Dr. Neal, but we have 1 frostie left so we will probably go back for an FET with him in 2 years. DH's 'psychic' aunt has predicted a boy too, so we will find out in a few months.
sameera- I would shave the 'stache too but then I will have a 5 o'clock shadow, I'm so freekin hairy. Asian people usually are. I told my husband to get me laser hair removal for my post-baby present.
denise- wow, a grape??? hmmm, now i am scared! What do you do? I'm so sorry, I hope your tush is ok!
tinnots- I would so love to visit Europe! Yall have such a better transportation system than we do! You should have DH take you to Paris for your 'babymoon'. I am sure by my descriptions of myself yall think I look like wolverine...I actually do look like a woman! Its just the Asian blood in me that makes me hairy....
God Bless!

Yes, Dr. Martin is the leader but I did not chose him as my RE at the first place. However he performed my first FET which resulted BFN! Say Hi to Elena and Irene for me if you go back to show your baby pic to them - tell them that I am the old Chinese lady who produced 25 eggs (they may remember me by that fact since they kept telling me that I don't respond to drugs like 43 yrs olds). Elena has to decrease my drug amount each time they checked me but I was still over-stimulated! She has a brainy daughter whose major is Chemistry and she often said that she was too smart to be her girl, funny! I like Irene too but she was mostly a sweet voice to me, I only met her in person once, but I talked to her every time they ran a test on me. The most memorable conversation we had was when she called me to tell me that my b was zero and she kept apologizing for the negative result and I told "I feel sorry for you more than for me since you probably need to make such depressing phone calls to more than 50% of women who go through ivf with your clinic yet this was only my first bad news and I don't expect to have many more of such news." She kept quiet for a long while after hearing what I said - I guess she was shocked. Of course, 1 sec after hang up the phone, I cried like hell and went crazy for the next few months!
Anyway, I feel excited to have someone who used the same clinic and I am with you, would recommend everyone to this clinic because I not only like their Staff, I also like the way they manage the work - very precise and professional to me. They also don't charge unreasonably - not like here in TN, they charged me more then $5000 just to perform FET, what a rip off (in SA, they only charged me $2000 for each subsequent FET, it was discounted but still much cheaper than here!) I used all frozen embryos which were produced while I was in SA so I think the FCSA deserves more than 50% of the credit. I will send them another postcard to thank them if I will get a live baby this time.
All other lovely ladies here, enjoy your pg journey! And thanks again for listening.

It's good to have a giggle about our lovely bodies - better than crying, eh?! You know, in some European countries, it's quite acceptable to have lots of body hair. Women walk around with hairy armpits, unshaven legs etc. So if any of you fancy a move...!
Chelly - yes we're lucky countries are pretty small here, so we can go exploring quite easily. Passenger railway's pretty good too -roads are variable - mind you - I'm biaised - I work for the railway industry! It's only 2.25 hours on the train to Paris from where I work. However, that does mean the novelty has rather worn off. I'd rather go to the countryside somewhere. Where do you go if you want a break? What's it like where you live?
Well, I'm officially 12 weeks!! I had another u/s yesterday and everything was ok. Got to see the Baby's arms legs, heads and he/she was just jumping around in there. Very cool!!
Just wanted to share our good news. Hope everyone has a good day!
tinnots- Have you ever been to Texas? Well, we don't all ride horses to work (although I work in the country and some people DO ride horses to work) I live in San Antonio which is a pretty metropolitan city, not by New York standards with skyscrapers and such, but we have a lot of people. It is very sunny and hot here, unfortunately the city is not built to allow people to walk to work. We have a metro bus, but no other mass trans like a train or anything. Most of us commute several miles for work. We have lots of suburban neighborhoods with single family homes & cottages, there are apartments but no flats or loft-style. The downside to Texas is we are so large that you have to drive several hours to reach the next metro city...ie Austin is 90min, Houston 2 hours, Dallas 5 hours etc. But we are friendly people by nature and we love visitors!
Children- Elena was there when I did my egg retrieval, apparently I kept saying I was freekin out but I don't remember. Her daughter is applying for pharmacy school at Incarnate Word I think, she didn't say if she had gotten in or not. I couldn't believe she had a daughter old enough to be finishing college b/c she looks so young! Irene was the one that called me with my BFP, when I heard her say congratulations I started crying hysterically, she was like don't cry b/c you'll make me cry! The nurses were all so sweet, I will def send them a pic of the baby after he/she is born. Yes, their FET prices are very reasonable, we only have 1 frostie but we will likely go back to use it. For $2000 its a bargain! Oh, when we went for our 1st PG sono, Dr Martin met with us, and basically told me not to let myself get fat....pretty much in those words. I was put off by that b/c 1st of all I am 5-7 and 125 lbs and I live a very healthy lifestyle, so why would I start feeding myself and my baby junk food now?? They also added 2 more part time RE's I guess they are growing into quite a large practice. When I would go for E2/sono checks there would be atleast 10 pts in the waiting room...but then for the PG sono's it would usually just be me. Like you said, its 50/50 for a BFP. I just felt so blessed to get PG, I thank God everyday for my baby and for getting me to the right Docs to get PG.
Sameera- how are you feeling? Are the twins moving big time now?
God Bless!

Chelly - I've never been to Texas. I've visted a few places in the US, but mostly tourist destinations. I can't imagine living somewhere so big where everything else is so far away. Can you enjoy the countryside? Go for walks/riding etc? I'd like to visit some of the non-city places in the US, like the big national parks. I live in Nottingham which is about 2 hours drive from London and 2 hours on the train too. It's a medium-sized city with about 400,000 people. I live in a suburb which is mostly family houses. If I worked in Nottingham city centre I could take the bus. I'm only 10 minutes from my fertility clinic which is in the top 10 in the country! Lucky me!
So how's everyone doing? I think my m/s is going!!! Hooray! I feel much less sick than last week, but still need to eat regularly. Fingers crossed it continues. My ovaries (I think) were a bit achey yesterday and I strained a bit in my side whilst reaching for something. But generally, I think I'm warming up to 2nd trimester. Counting down to my scan...
Congratulations 4wd2bmom on reaching your milestone!
tinnots- You can go out of city limits if you wanted, but its not lush and green. Its more brown and crusty! To be honest I don't spend much time outside b/c its usually very hot from April/May until Oct/Nov. The average temp I would say is 80-90 but in Aug/Sept it can spike above 100! DH is into outdoors stuff, I'm more of a couch potato. We have some really nice rivers here and its very popular to go 'tubing'.
DH does triathalons and he is going to do the Ironman in Cour d'Alene Idaho, which is supposed to be a spectacular lakeside town. Its in June, and the baby will only be 5 months, so we are not sure if baby will come along, but I am looking forward to that trip.
congratulations 4wd2bmom! How are you feeling?
As for me, just when I think the m/s is getting better, it hits me hard. I did not sleep well last night and I am quite nauseated this morning. I have my 13wk appt with my OB...so hopefully no more transvag sonos!!!
Do yall ever watch TLC? I think thats the channel...there is a show called "Deliver Me" and it follows an all-female OB/GYN group. Its pretty neat, these women are amazing the way they juggle their practice and their family lives. My OB reminds me of the docs on the show.
Sorry about the blabbing!
God Bless!
