10 Fertilised embryos!!!!

Post by Jackie S »

Hi everybody

Well, I had my egg collection yesterday and they harvested 17 of which 10 fertilised so I am starting to get excited now.

Had a bit of a rough time, kept in hospital overnight on morphine, they wanted me to stay in tonight too but I asked them to let me home so I can spend some time with John before everything tomorrow. I needed to be transferred yesterday between the CRM building and the maternity hospital and it took 40 minutes by ambulance before the driver put his siren and flashing lights on and the traffic just parted. (the journey should have taken about 2 minutes max) the snow had managed to bring most the city to a standstill and a bus had broken down outside the exit so traffic was getting on site but nothing could leave. The CRM shuts at 4 and the nurse who was looking after me had to stay with me until the ambulance arrived at 6.30 she was wonderful, going to take her a box of chocs tomorrow to say thankyou.

The embryologist rang me today on the ward, she said they are really pleased and I am having transfer tomorrow at 11am. I have to be tested for OHSS first because they are concerned but hopefully everything will go ahead.

Sorry if this is mixed up I am still a bit groggy from all the morphine. Thank you everybody who left me messages it was great when I turned my computer on and reading them.

Linda Jane- you will be great under the CRM, I have never been so looked after before (i have spent a lot of time in hospital), the doctors were brilliant, they gave me oral painkillers (dihydrocodeine) and when that didn't work gave me pethidine injections (about 10 minutes after) and when I was transferred he wrote up morphine straight away and stayed until I was given it. The nursing staff went out of their way to look after me and the theatre staff really put you at ease. I would definitely recommend them all.

To everybody on 2ww hope everything is going ok and you are not doing too much. I test on Friday 13th February -getting a lot of comments about that one!!!

Thanks again

Jackie :P

Hi Jackie

That's fantastic! 10 lovely embies. :D I hope it all goes well for ET tomorrow. It sounds like you had wonderful nurses and general care which really makes a huge difference at times like this.

Rest well and drink lots of water to ward off that nasty OHSS!!!!

Love Dagny x

Good news Jackie - 10 embies :D . I did think of you yesterday when the snow came down and I hoped that you would be at home........obviously not! You were probably in the fastest moving vehicle in Cov yesterday evening. It took me 11/2 hours to get home - Coundon Wedge road was glass! I only live 2 miles from work! Sorry about the local gossip folks but it is the talk of the town today as you can imagine!

My friend also speaks highly of the CRM and it from your experience they do seem to be wonderful - I've just got to wait my turn!

Good luck for the ET tomorrow and I'm sending positive vibes and crossing everything for you as is my DP who has just put his head around the door :).

Love and hugs to you

Jackie, I know we've not written before but GOOD LUCK for tomorrow. I'm having ET in the early afternoon. We don't know how many of our 4 frozen eggs will have survived defrosting until we arrive. We're obviously hoping for 2.

Let's hope for HUGE positives and as I'll be testing on 13th too we can be anti-superstitious together :D

love
Debra.

Hi Jackie

Well done! Sounds like you had a rough time tho. Last IVF cycle I had 14 eggs and 11 embies, so I got to freeze 9, (3 of which are back inside me at the mo!) and I was in danger of OHSS too. As Dagny said, drink as much water as you can possibly manage, it really does help.
Good luck for your ET, and welcome to the 2ww!
