hi jenny,
i go to an accupuncturist and get it through him. the supplements cost about £20 to £25 per month. i found the clinic on the internet but there are some high street herbalist that you could see. it's diificult to know how to choose but i went with a clinic that had experience with fertility issues. the reason i opted for accupuncture was that i read about good success rates with natural fertility and ivf, and i was preparing for an ivf cycle.

Dh and me too followed the marilynn grenville program and attended her clinic to see a nutrionist. dh has quality and quanity issues and the supplements improved him by about 30% in about 4 mths. i'd followed a veggie diet for about 4 years. she reckons that of the people she see's, unexplanied fertility issues occurs more in veggies than non veggies because of protein deficiencies.

i upped mine by eating daily: organic fish (or non farmed), eggs, tofu, soya milk (i cut out most dairy milk), cheese, yogurt and organic veg. i must admit that it was a very limited diet but the easiest produce to find.

you certainly get more eggs than i ever did! and your fsh level is great. are you going for another cycle?

Hi Phil, we have decided to go for an IUI cycle next month as we've not tried that and it is so much cheaper. The consultant says that he doesn't hold out great hopes for IUI but we think it is worth a try. We are only giving it one go as the consultant says that most people get pregnant at the first attempt if they are going to, although he usually recommends 3 attempts. If the IUI doesn't work we are having one final IVF in April which will make 3 IVF attempts and one IUI and then we shall give up as we will have spent £9,000.00 Let's hope it doesn't come to that though and I get pg again :)

I've been veggie for 18 years and dh for 8 years (since we met). We don't eat fish but do eat eggs, tofu, soya, cheese, yogurt, quorn, milk, baked beans for protein so feel fairly confident we get enough protein. Mind you I have bought some whey powder which I used to boost my protein during the stims phase of IVF as that is a pure source of protein so I will continue with that once a day, if MG says it is so important.

We spend about £100 a month on supplements and my dh has just changed jobs and taken a £5 thousand pound per year drop in salary so money is a bit tight but I am keen to go along and see a chinese herbalist as there are many in the area I live in (wolverhampton). I just don't want to be ripped off.

hi jenny,
i read about whey protein and it's properties and was about to start taking it too. i know what you mean about finding good sources as we have to put so much blind confidence in others at times, that recommendations certainly help. for a chinese herbalist you could try looking at
www.medical-acupuncture.co.uk they can certainly tell you about accupuncturists in your area. maybe you can check whether they do just chinese medicine rather than with accupuncture.

i hope iui goes well for you. this is such a costly business in money and emotions.

jenny, are you the same jenny that send me a message re progesterone on FF. if yes, then many thanks for that!

let me know how you get on with finding a chinese herbalist.

best wishes,

phil

Hi, yes it was me on FF. I did wonder if that was you on FF but your profile said you were 33 not 43 and I thought you were 43?

Thanks for the link for acupuncturists.

All the best
