New to board - IVF w/ PGD

Post by Ashly »

Hello all! I am very glad I just stumbled upon this board!

I am 25 years old, DH is 34 and TTC for 3 years. After our second m/c in Aug. 2007 it was discovered I have a Robertsonian Balanced Translocation. Wondering if anyone else here has the same. I only have 45 chromosomes instead of 46 b/c two of them are attached. Only effects me when TTC. In July '08 we did IVF w/ PGD. 14 follicles, 8 eggs, 4 fertilized and 1 was chromosomally "normal." Got pregnant w/ a girl but m/c at 10 weeks. Her name is Aubrey and my life pretty much ended when I lost her.

I am searching for hope and would love to make new friends here.

Baby dust to all!

Welcome Ashly, you went through your first cycle at about the same time my wife did. We also had a miscarriage, but it was earlier than yours, but still devastating for both of us. It actually strained our relationship for a little while, but we have worked through it and have come out better people and we have a stronger relationship. Sometimes it's hard to try to find the good out of such a bad thing, but all you can do is hold your head high and move on to your next step in the game plan. I firmly believe that we all have a plan in this world and sometimes we don't understand that plan and we get upset about it, but in the end things will work out for a reason. I for one got really upset with god and I'm not a religious man, I would say I'm more of a spirtual man and I'm still upset with him. I wish you luck in your next cycle, if your doing one, and really hope that you find strength to push forward through all of this. I don't know how many times I've told my wife, if we relied on me to do this we would've stopped a long time ago. What you ladies go through throughout this process is so painful it's amazing.
Destiny is not a matter of chance, it's a matter of choice.

Welcome to the board. I have a genetic condition and originally started IVF for the purpose of PGD to prevent passing ony my genetic condition. I have a 50/50 chance of passing on the condition naturally. After two failed attempts to get pregnant, it was determined that there was also an egg quality issue. They switched some things around and I am now 19 weeks pregnant with twins. There is definitely hope. PGD is a wonderful process to help help have the healthiest child possible. Best luck to you.

Hi Ashly

Welcome to the board, the people on here are so helpful and friendly. it really is a place where you can find friendships and support. I also have just miscarried at 7 weeks and its hard to come to terms with when you have tried so hard to get pregnant for it to be taken away. I also named our child because to us she was our child even though she was only with us 7 weeks.

I believe there is always hope ours was ended last year and then along came my sister who dodnated her eggs to us, I know all our situations are different on here but we are all striving for the same thing to be a mummy, good luck with what ever you decide to do next.

Take Care
Lee
Finally I am a mummy, we are about to adopt our beautiful little girl xxxxx
