Hello Everyone!! Wow this thread is so busy. I love it! I have been keeping up with the posts. Seems that everyone is really getting going.

CT_Michele - glad to hear your surgery went well and that it is over. Now you can really get going. Thanks for keeping the list so beautiful and up to date :-)

To everyone else, I am thinking of you and keeping track of your progress. Knowing there are other people going through this with me makes it so much easier.

AFM, I am in the middle of stimming. I have about 10 follicles on each ovary and am feeling very bloated. My doctor didn't give me a choice regarding the protein shakes. He has me on 1 Muscle Milk a day, soon to be moved to 2 a day. They really don't help with the bloating, but I might try the Gatorade.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

I sooo don't need the weight gain. I was talking to a coworker yesterday about the 15+ pounds I've picked up in the last year. She said it happens to all new employees here because of the cafeterias...obviously the food's pretty good  I just went shopping a few weeks ago for new pants in a bigger size and those are already starting to feel "different". I literally don't have room to gain anymore! :? Oh well, guess I'm about to find out soon enough.

Sari - I've never heard of the pre-protein. I'll be sure to pick up some protein somehow though. Either with the Ensure Protein shakes or eating eggs and veggies.

Sarah - Wow! Hospoitalized for 8 days?! That sucks! Sorry you had to go through that, but I'm sure you'd do it all over again for your little angel :D

Michele - I hope you feel better soon!
Cynthia - 31, blocked tubes, DH - 26, perfect

Hey its the weekend!! Well I have been on the weekend since wednesday HAHA!! And will be till this 2ww is over lucky for me was able to cancel all work related things for the next couple of weeks,

Kim this is really it now, I am happy for you that you are feeling fairly calm about it all, Its out of your hands now, do you have a time for ET yet?? Let us know so we can all be thinking of you.

Sarah I think we are all in the same boat there are so many of us trying to keep up is really hard, I tend to reply to what I can see on my topic review bit below because I cant remember it all!! I know parts of it do seem to take forever then all of a sudden it flys by I can't believe I am already in my 2ww, January when I saw the dr to start again seems like months away now!! Sorry you had a bad AF see it as a nice fresh start and all ready to go!!!

Hazel you are supposed to be getting away from it all!!! It was nice to read your post tho, yes I guess they are fighters when they froze them I had only one grade 10 so my other grade 10 has grown from an 8 to a 10 overnight from when they thawed them. :D

Sari Hola!! My DH is Spanish speaking so it was nice to see Hola!! Sounds like you had fun at orientation!! It brings it home to our DH what we go through as couples to achieve our dreams, Why does he not want to freeze any embryos? Does he have any other men to talk to who have been through the same thing, I know it helped my DH.

dys have a nice time visiting your mum,

Michele thinking of you and hope you feel better soon. My test day is the 25th March but I am sure I will give in to the old HPT before then!!!

Sun and Trying for another angel how are you both doing I see from Micheles list you both should be starting 2ww around now or the next few days??

AFM still chillin!! Talking to my embies and demanding they stick tight!! Have my legs down now was giving me a headache!!!  Feeling a little full in my stomach and some mild cramping so I know the progesterone is working, I also have a major thirst on me which is very unlike me can go all day and forget to drink!! Will have to look and see if thats a side effect of the progesterone as well, shame I can't drink the wine, water will have to do!!

Ok everyone have a good weekend and see you all soon
this is for those waiting for AF

HI all.
CTMichele, glad you are feeling better.
Sara, have fun in the 2WW.
CYM, I hear you on the weight gain. I moved to TX and exploded! HEE HEE (though not funny).
Wishing, let us know if Gatorade works for you. Will you do both Muscle Milk and Gatorade?

Looks like lots of ETs on 4-2! I cant wait to hear how it goes for all of you!

As for me, Im feeling better. Had a deep tissue massage last night and my whole outlook is better. Dh is still super stressed but maybe this weekend will help. He filled out the forms for the IVF in case he has to travel and needed to sign the papers.

I cant wait until Monday. No more BCPs. Woo hoo! Meds arrive tomorrow. One week from today I start Lupron and one week from tomorrow I start Menopur and Gonalf. Let the dreaded shots begin!

First time for IVF/ICSI

Post by statsgoddess »

Hey guys - I'm new to the forum and will be on the April/May cycle. Several members have suggested I introduce myself here until the April/May cycle buddies get going so I can go ahead and meet some people :)

I'm 29 and my husband is 46. He had a vasectomy about 14 years ago after the birth of his last kid with the ex. We did the reversal a year and a half ago, but no luck, so we've moved on to IVF/ICSI.

I'm due to get my period anytime in the next few days and will be starting on the birth control and then everything else when that begins.

It seems like it's been a long time since the initial consultation with the clinic and then all the tests I had to do afterward, so it is very surreal that the time for this is coming up so quickly...I admit I'm a little nervous already...

I look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know some people going through the same thing.

Hi Ladies,

It's been quite awhile since I last posted. It's hard for me to check this during work. I just decided that I will be taking a month off starting on 3/23 so I can relax through all of this...I can't wait! I'm now taking BCP and next week should be starting on Lupron, then stims a few days later. I should hopefully have my ER around Apr. 3rd if all goes well. They will be doing ICSI and Assisted hatching with us. I hope that helps. This will be our first IVF. We did a few IUI attempts a few months ago then found out my FSH level was at 10.9 so I guess that is kinda high. We maybe only able to do a couple cycles at most since it's so expensive and we are paying cash.
We are trying for our 2nd child. We have a six year old son. We conceived naturally with him. We have now been trying for a 2nd baby for almost 4 years.
I will try and post more now that I will be off work soon. It's such a help to have this message board.
I wish you all lots of baby dust!

Hey Ladies...

The weekend is finally here...yay!

I am still feeling crummy, neck is hurting, like a stiff neck and it was the weirdest thing earlier. Warning...tmi...but even though I did not feel like going out, I had to get Ella a bathing suit for her first swim lesson tomorrow, so I made the drive to babies r us, and it seemed as soon as I left the house, my stomach went bizerk. Needless to say, I could not enjoy my time out because I was having really bad cramps and felt like I had to run to the bathroom the whole time. Even though I wanted to go other places, I went straight home. It seems to have subsided for the moment.

Trying- glad to see you still around. I added your expected ER date to the tracker. Sounds like you will be able to relax during a crucial time, glad you were able to take time off.

wishing- we are all doing the af dance for you...hope she shows up soon so you can get on your way

stats- welcome. You can hang with us if you like. I will not be cycling until mid april because I just had a polyp removed, so we may be close together. There are some awesome ladies here and I bet you will be addicted to talking to them in just a couple days.

Lee- love the hip hop dancers! So cute! Glad you are hanging in there and relaxing (or trying to anyway). I went hpt crazy last time and plan to again, so maybe we could be hpt buddies? You'll have to let me know when you cave in and do one.

Latino- you are so close to starting. That deep tissue massage sounds nice...I need one of those!

Ok, gotta run, sounds like nap time ending early!

Hi all,

I apologise for not doing any personals, I have a bit of an issue going on.

My E2 levels have not risen at all since 2 days ago (when I started the ganirelix) ans my RE started to prepare me today she may decide to cancel this cycle AGAIN!!! Because at the rate I am going I may only have a couple of follies ready on time.

Has anyone heard of anything like that before?
I had a bit of a cold yesterday and took some decongestant do you think it may have interacted poorly? Anyone with pharmac. backround? This has never happened to me before and I was off to such a good start?

Good morning lovely ladies,
My ET day has arrived!!
The lab called yesterday and said that all four were continuing to divide. We'll see if that is still the case when we get there today.
I asked the lab guy about discussing how many to transfer and he said I could talk to the RE today, BUT, it says in my file that I am an "MSET". That means Mandatory Single Embyo Transfer. He said I could still talk to the Re though, 'cuz he's good at listening. Well, I hope he's good at hearing, too!
I think I'm MSET because at our consult the RE said that for my age he would only consider transfering 2 at the most. I (stupid me) asked about the added risk of pre-term delivery as I have had not one, but two cone biopsies of my cervix. He said that would make it more important to just transfer 1. BUT - at the ER I had a different RE and she commented on what a nice looking cervix I had. I told her that was nice to hear considering it's had two cone biopsies and laser treatment for pre-cancerous cells. She said she would never have been able to tell that I've had a biopsy at all. In fact she said my cervix looked like I'd had plastic surgery because it looked so perfect. (can you imagaine - plastic surgery on your cervix so it looks good!!) That has my hopes up that maybe, just maybe my RE will put two embies back today! Wish me luck!!

I'd like to apologize in advance for my next post. It's going to be super long and I don't want anyone to fell like they have to attempt something so crazy! In my defense I had too many naps yesterday and woke up super early today. I decided to take the time to post a personal to everyone on the tracker that Michele made. I doubt I'll ever do it again 'cuz trust me - it's long!

I have heard so many people apologize for not being able to do personals. I bet that if we took a poll we would all say that we would like to be able to full-on personals every time. However, that is just not realistic. So, to save anyone from feeling badly, I would like to propose that we all agree that it is just fine for people to post what they can when they can. Our only rule should be that nobody should feel guilty. What do you all think?

Have a great Saturday!

Okay, here goes...

Welcome statsgoddess! I hear you on the ‘surreal-ness’ of this all! It felt like it would take eons to get to the point I am at now, but the time really does start to fly. I’ll do a little AF dance for you to help get your process started!

lionoe/Nicole – I’m starting to worry that we haven’t heard from you in a while. I hope it’s only because you have way more self-control than the rest of us and you are just kickin’ back and chilling in between ER and ET. Hopefully it’s going well. Look forward to an update soon.

Wishing4Baby – 10 follies on each ovary – wow! That’s fantastic! I hope your protein shakes help. Have you been updated as to your ER date? Is it still looking like the 18th? Sending you lots of good follie vibes!

millie 09 – Hope your stimming is still going well. Any dates yet for ER? I’m sending good follie vibes your way!

Sisi1 – So sorry to hear about your E2 levels. If I had a go-go gadget arm I’d just stretch it across the country and give your E2 a big ‘ol whap upside the head! Is there anything the RE can do to adjust your meds to help it along? Oh – you must be so frustrated. I wish I had the words to share or a way to fix it for you. Hang in there.

babymex – you seem to have disappeared... Hope all is well and you are just rejoicing in your BFP! I noticed you posted a facebook site – I’m not on facebook, but perhaps someone else here will go check you out to see if you’ve given any hints about a BFP?? http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=ho ... ef=profile

melanie_100 – How’s the 2WW going? I’m sure to you the 18th seems so far away, but I can’t believe that it’s only 4 days away!! Lots of BFP vibes headed your way!!

faithseverything – How is the 2WW treating you? When do you do your beta? Are you panning on caving in to the HPTs? I’m sending lots of sticky baby dust your way!!

Sara30/Lee – I’m glad to hear your legs are down now! LOL! You crack me up. I love the hip-hop dancers, BTW! Sorry to hear about the cramps. Thanks for saying they are a side-effect of the progesterone, though. I freak out about cramps and pains now – I would surely feel paranoid about them after transfer. I’ll just keep in mind that it’s normal, though. Phew – thanks for the heads up! And yes, drink plenty of water and other non-winey fluids! More sticky baby dust to you!!

Trying for another angel – That is so great that you get to take a month off to focus and de-stress. I bet the 23rd can’t come fast enough for you! I really hope this cycle is all you need to go through to get your blessed 2nd baby. Good luck!

SunMoon&Stars – Are you still scheduled for your ET Mar 16? I have forgotten, is this a fresh or frozen cycle for you? Either way, I’m wishing you lots of luck and will be thinking of you on Monday!

Latinosunshine – Well, just one week now ‘till the lupron starts! Good luck. I found the shots much easier than I though and once I got over my fears of injecting the meds, I was fine. I hope you find it just as easy! Deep tissue massage – soooo jealous! Enjoy your new outlook!

Sari – Not long now ‘til you start stims! Good luck – I know it’s hard to believe, but you really do get used to the injections! As for your DH – I think it’s sweet that he felt badly. I hope he really does know that this whole baby making process is really a team sport and that you are with him no matter what. I’m glad that you were able to get some laughs in at the orientation. We all need all the endorphins we can get at this time – DH’s included! I suspect that my DH feels the same way, but he has such a hard time expressing emotions and feelings. So without him sharing it’s hard for me to know what it’s like from the man’s perspective. I do know him well enough though that I can tell he worries about me and just wished the painful parts were over! Don’t worry too much about the weight gain – its sort of temporary. I say sort of because it’s just from the fluids in your ovaries which will go away at some point, but of course once you get your BFP, then you’re going to gain a lot more than just 10 pounds!

Waiting For 4 – did you have your consult with the RE yesterday. I hope it went well. Let us know what your protocol looks like and what the tentative dates are. Michele can update you on our tracker and you can add your stuff to the calendar that Cynthia started – it’s such a great tool!

dys24 – only 1 more day of BCPs for you! Enjoy your weekend with your mommy. Does she live very for from you? Do you get to see her often?

sprouthaus – Are you still out there? I really hope that you are doing well with your course and at work. Hopefully as your time draws closer you will start to post again. We miss you!

milpagan/Milly – Have you worked out the funding all right? Did you have your consult this week? Have you stated your BCPs? I hope it’s all going well and you can get the show on the road so to speak!

tabatha1975 – We haven’t heard from you in a while. I see that you post regularly on the Jan/Feb/Mar thread. I hope all is going well.

cymplicity27/Cynthia – Your stimming has started, your stimming had started – yeah! How did the first time go? Gosh, I was so nervous my first time I think I actually didn’t quite get all of the meds out of the vial – yikes! I hope you are calm, cool and collected and that you find it’s not so bad after all! Happy stimming! Oh- your list says to avoid caffeine – does that mean chocolate, too?

sbr/Sarah – Sorry to hear about the suffering you went through with OHSS. I’m glad that al least you got your wonderful DS at the end of it. It must have been bitter sweet to know that you were BFP and at the same time, the BFP was making the OHSS that much worse. I’m keeping everything crossed for you that your FET goes well and you get to add on to your family right away. You must be relieved to know that you can’t get over-stimulate with FET? Good luck to you!

biancajb – just a few more days to go until your first ultrasound. Good luck – I’ll be thinking of you on Tuesday!

wishfull27 (Carolyn) – I hope you are keeping well. Glad your scan went well. I’ll be doing an AF dance for you – though it may be with my legs up in the air as I plan to take a page out of Lee’s book!! LOL! Has the need for eating crap subsided yet? I say blame it on the hormones. Sometimes we just have those phases. Right now I want to eat a lot of chips with dip – so bad. Chips (that’s what we call potato chips - not French Fries) are bad enough – why add an edible oil product to them?? Hopefully that craving will pass soon!

Hjw/Hazel – Sorry about the weather on your weekend away. I hope you still get to relax a whole lot, though! How is your visiting going? Isn’t it bittersweet when you get your bleed? On the one hand, SF id just evil and unpleasant; but on the other hand, like you said, it’s another step toward the ultimate goal! I am really hoping to transfer 2 embies today. Cross everything you can for me!!

kline – I’m happy to hear that the down-regging is going smoothly. Hopefully AF will come quickly enough so you can start stimming. I understand what you mean about trying to keep everyone straight. In fact I think we all understand ~ it can be really overwhelming at times. I believe that my hair dresser has said that it depends on the type of ‘dye’. I don’t remember specifics, but I plan on asking my RE about it today when I have my transfer b/c I happen to have an appointment on Monday for foils and a semi-permanent. I’ll let you know what he says. In any case, it never hurts to tell the stylist that you are TTC so they make sure to not use the harmful products. Who is retiring?

hope2beamummy – I’m glad that you felt welcome here. As for your question about down-regging; I was on a nasal spray called synarel and overall I don’t think it was too bad. There were days that I felt crabby (but that’s not too out of the ordinary, sad to say!) and near the end I started to notice times when I thought, “Am I having a hot flash?” It also made my nose run a lot, but that felt pretty normal to me because of my ever present sinus issues. The thing I liked the most about it was that it improved my sleep! I am a BIG sleeper. DH has always said he has never known anyone who needs as much sleep as I do. But for the last few years the stress of my current job has actually interfered with my sleep. I am very grateful that leading up to this all important event I was able to sleep so soundly every night.

CT_Michele – I’m glad you are done with the polyp! Sorry about all the hassle you had trying to get there, though. I hope the pain just keeps going away and that your neck starts to feel better soon. Hopefully your tummy won’t act up every time you leave the house! BTW, did you get Ella a cute little bathing suit? Is it her first one? I can’t wait to see the pics! Still thinking of Mil.

Hello ladies,

I thought I would finally join the message board again. I am currently stimming for my 2nd fresh ivf try. I have had 2 FET cycles as well with no luck. Today is my 9th day of stims, and I'm starting to feel a little discouraged. By day 9 last time, I was ready to trigger. This time it seems like i'm not responding the same. They found 18 follicles on the u/s but only 2 or 3 are between 17-21 in size. The rest are between 12-15. My nurse seemed really disappointed which discouraged me. I'm still waiting on what the bloodwork says. Oh, my estrogen seems to be on the low side too. My first u/s after starting stims was 300 and at my 2nd u/s it was at 700. I'm trying not to be discourged but it is really difficult when the nurse is.

Ok..my nurse just called and my Estrogen jumped from 700 to over 1800. She's excited now more than discouraged. She said all the nurses scan differently, and she described herself as the tight wad. She seems to measure smaller than the other nurses. I wish she told me that before she got me discouraged! Anyway, I still stim tonight and go back for another u/s tomorrow.
