November 2009 babies?

Post by charr »

Hello! Just wondering if there are any November mommies-to-be out there. We received our first positive beta on March 2 and have our first ultrasound scheduled for this Friday. We are very anxious! My beta levels have been very high so we're wondering if we'll have twins. I would love to hear from some other ladies out there that will be November mommies.

Hiya Char~

I had my beta on March 2nd also! When was your retrieval date? Mine was Feb 16 so according to this site www.ivf.ca/calcu.htm my due date will be Nov 9.

I was soooo happy and excited the day I got my BFP! Now I am shocked at how stressed I feel and worried about each next hurdle. I thought once I was officially pregnant I would be totally carefree and my worries would be over! But Im not. Do you feel this way?

I have my third bloodtest this Friday then I gotta wait another 2 weeks for the ultrasound! The ultrasound really scares me and I just hope to see a full sac, fetal pole and a heartbeat. maybe I will be able to relax more then.

You are lucky you get an ultrasound so early. Your numbers are great--I betcha it's twins!!!

Hi, Sue. Great to hear from you. My retrieval was Feb. 15 so according to the calculator I'm due Nov. 8. I understand completely how you feel being stressed and worried still with each hurdle. I keep wondering if I'll ever find a way to relax! I'm happy to have an ultrasound early but am just hopeful we'll be able to see the full sac, fetal pole, etc. or I'll be even more worried. Let me know how your next blood test goes and congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Hi Everyone,

I had my first beta test March 6th (transfer was the 26th). I figured out my by the calendar that I'd be due around Nov. 14th. Feel very nervous as I keep reading info on IVF pregnancies in the first few weeks. I understand about wanting to get over the hurdles. Time is moving to slowly right now. (can't believe I am saying that and it's only been 4 weeks!).

Charr -- your levels are great. At first I thought mine were high (first beta was 137) but that's nothing compared to yours. Second beta was 348 so going in the right direction. Getting first ultrasound next week! hoping everything is ok!

Quick question - are any of your still on progesterone? I am and I have lumps in my butt from it. Do you? Also - getting sore at this point. Just wondering if the lumps are normal.

Thanks! Good luck to everyone!

Hey, everyone! Sounds like we are all due around the same time. My 5d transfer was on 2/23, so according to the calculator on this site my due date is Nov 11 - Armistice Day. :)

charr and SueQiwi - I feel the same anxiety you do about the first u/s. SueQiwi, I can't believe they are making you wait such a looong time for yours! Mine is scheduled for 3/18, and according to the info I just looked up we should be able to hear the heartbeat already. I don't think I am going to feel excited about it until then. Right now it's still too unreal, I don't even think I believe it yet.

aeb26 - My levels have been almost the same as yours, 136 on 3/7 then 314 on 3/9. When next week is your ultrasound? I am most definitely still on the progesterone, and I am SORE. Every so often I will forget and try to push open a door in my office with my hip... OWWWW! As far as I can tell I don't have any lumps, just a lot of bruises. Because I'm pretty small, my nurse did just approve us switching down to 1 inch needles which has helped a lot.

wondercat -

my first u/s is 3/19. Very nervous. Totally don't feel like this is real at all. I will feel much better when I can hear the heartbeat.

Anyway - thanks for the info. Wondering about the lumps. I guess I should ask the doctor next time. I know the progesterone is in oil which makes it have a 3 day time release. I just assumed that it was the stored progesterone but now I'm not so sure.

I use a heating pad after i take the shot and sometimes at night for relief. It helps!

Welcome aeb and wondercat! I'm on progesterone but they're the vaginal tablets so no lumps for me.

Our first ultrasound is tomorrow. I don't know why I'm so nervous. I guess just hoping everything is all right and the idea of finding out if we're having one or more. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little scared of having multiples.

Welcome to aeb and wondercat!

Wondercat~I feel the same as you--this is very surreal. I think I have been trying for so long and then after the 2 failed IVFs I can't quite believe I am actually pregnant! And of course I have heard so many horror stories on the boards I get scared it will all be taken away. I keep trying to chill out cause stress cannot be good for the little ones. It is going to be torture to wait another 2 weeks for the ultrasound.

AEB
~I feel the same as you too--this doesn't seem real! The Doc took me off progesterone at last. hooray! I hope you get those bumps sorted out.

Char~All the best on your ultrasound tomorrow!! I will be thinking of you.

I had my third beta yesterday and my hcg is now 12,188. The Doc felt good about my levels so I'm all done with progesterone. hooray. My first ultrasound is scheduled for 27 March. Alas--another 2 week wait for me!

Do you all plan to keep working out during your pregnancy? I am trying to decide whether to cancel my gym membership or not. I'd love to keep lifting weights and doing yoga--but don't want to jeopardize anything!

Hello, ladies.

Sue - your beta levels sound really good. Congratulations! The wait for the ultrasound is a hard one. I do plan to exercise and have been starting back slowly for now with just walks with our dog.

Our ultrasound today still leaves me feeling uneasy. There were two larger sacs, but only one with a yolk sac. And then there was also a third smaller sac which the ultrasound tech seemed to think was nothing. So I'll go back in another week and a half for another ultrasound. I sure hope we'll see a heartbeat(s) by then. This whole process seems like waiting and more waiting! It's so difficult to be patient and not to worry along the way.

Hi everyone! This is my first post.

We received a positive pregnancy test yesterday and we are cautiously optimistic! I have had two miscarriages, one after an IVF cycle. This was our second IVF after about a year of various treatments - so we are certainly excited about the news, but have been here before.

I am little freaked out because our levels are so high - 690 (but my levels were pretty high in the past pregancies as well). I am just taking it one step at a time. We go back for our second pregancy test tomorrow and need to see the levels double!

I am few weeks behind the rest of you.

Regarding the progesterone shots - I had bad lumps last time and this time is much better. A few tips:
-Ice right before the shot
-Immediately after hold down on the spot for a few minutes
-Apply a heating pad immediately for about 10-15 minutes
-Then my wonderful husband massages both sides for me - usually the one from the night before hurts more. He does about 10 minutes on each side. No lumps or pain this time!

Glad to be on this journey with all of you!

No symptoms, anyone?

Post by Ivy Frances »

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the message boards. Pregnant (I hope) now at 41 on my second round of IVF with a November 11th due date. I am cautiously optimistic, but not letting myself get too excited. I know from reading the boards, there is a good possibility that many things could go wrong.

One thing that worries me is that I don't have any symptoms at all. My breasts were really sore, but am not sore at all any more despite PIO shots everyday. This is my first pregnancy (I hope) so I don't really know what to expect. It seems like since I am on PIO, I should have some symptoms? (At least continuing to have sore breasts!) Anyone else symptom free?

Best wishes to all you November mommies-to-be. I imagine it will be quite a journey!

Welcome, Excited-in-LA and Ivy, and congratulations!

Excited-in-LA - my first beta was also really high at 621. Cautiously optimistic is exactly how we've been feeling with our pregnancy. Best wishes and let us know how your beta levels progress.

Ivy - I don't have much for symptoms. I do get a little nauseous when I'm hungry but that's really about it. Try not to worry about not having symptoms yet. When are you scheduled for your first ultrasound?

Thank you for the warm welcome Charr!

We got our second pregnancy test back today and our number exactly doubled, so we continue to be all smiles. We go in Monday, March 23 for our first ultrasound. We will cross our fingers that all looks good and see how many there are then! My first two pregnancies, I went to 6.5 weeks and 8.5 weeks, so I know how much these few weeks can bring and am taking it day to day.

Ivy, I don't have any symptoms either. I have asked my doctors and they said that while some women do have symptoms, it really is very early.

I did have symptoms with the first two pregnancies, but since both of those ended in miscarriage, I don't take this as a bad sign.

Sending good thoughts to everyone!

It's comforting to know that others are not having many symptoms either. To be honest, sometimes it just doesn't feel real. My ultrasound is this Friday, March 20th. Maybe it will feel more real after that? Hope you are all doing well!

Ivy Frances - I'm hoping it will seem real after the first u/s! I am just so nervous that somehow they're not going to see anything and it really ISN'T real.

In terms of symptoms, the biggest one is that I have been incredibly tired all the time. Walking the dogs for 5 minutes makes me want to take a nap. I have also had horrible headaches, but I wonder if those could be tension headaches from my anxiety about this u/s?? And in my case I feel NOT hungry, like I know that I need to eat but either nothing sounds good to me or once the food is ready I just feel apathetic about eating it.

General question about the progesterone shots - my flanks now officially look like they have been to war, and are pretty sore. However the past couple of days what I have noticed is that if my pants are chafing against those spots for a while, rather than painful they get really ITCHY. Since this is my first BFP, I have never had to take the shots for this long before so I'm not sure if this is a normal reaction just from having so many shots in one spot. I'm concerned about allergic reaction, although the progesterone is in oleate since I'm extremely allergic to peanuts. It's not itchy all the time, just if my waistband of my pants rubs against it for a while. Anybody else get that??
