Hi Ladies, just checking in to see how everyone is doing... I'm doing a little better on this side. My doctor gave me a prescription for Reglan to help with the nausua and vomitting, so I have had a bit of relief. Still lost my breakfast this morning, but that is somehow comforting to know that I am still sick. We have our appointment with the OB one week from today. So excited to see our little one again. Hope you are all doing well!

Hello Everyone,

I've just been extremely busy this last week, but am glad to see everyone seems to be doing well, aside from nausea, vomitting, indigestion, heartburn and exhaustion (not a bad list!!)!

Yes, most of us are nearing (or at) the 12 week mark - is anyone starting to feel a bit of a sense of relief or lightening of the stress? I know it is only a marker of time, but it is nice to know we are getting this far.

Wishfull - I see you have your ticker set for your u/s - exciting! Mine is not until next Tuesday - make sure to tell us all about it!

As far as knowing the gender, ever since I thought about becoming pregnant years ago, I have never wanted to know and we aren't going to find out until we birth our little one.... we aren't even curious (although I understand people who are), because I feel that that moment will be even more special with a little extra surprise in it. Also, what we only care about is a healthy baby (in all the possible ways that can be defined) and so we wouldn't change anything about our preparation if we knew the gender. What are others planning to do?

As far as telling people (Belle, I think you raised this, too?) - we told parents and some siblings only after the 7 week u/s. Other than that,we will wait at least until after 13 weeks for general family and close friends, and after that, for general public (work, etc) only when I am showing (which I think will be a while). I imagine around 5 months - 6 months time period.

AFM - My nausea is appearing more suddenly (and I gag more, but have only thrown up a few times), but it doesn't come up as often anymore. I think I am transitioning in some way out of the first trimester symptoms. My constipation (so bad in the beginning) is pretty much gone (thankfully!). I am rounder in the hips and lower belly, but no weight gain. I also notice even more the lack of oxygen when I begin something physical (walking up a steep hill or a short uphill hike or the beginning minutes of a run), whereas I never was short of breath previously. That is probably my biggest reminder that I am interconnected and attached to this little being that really needs my oxygen and also is taking away lung and breathing room from me!!! That, and the fact that I am still always hungry and eat almost twice as much as before.....

Hope all is well for you all - and Welcome to Hopeful - we are looking forward to hearing how you are going with your three, as I am sure you will have many more u/s and supervision than some of us!)

Oh my gosh... Just had to pass along that I fainted last night. Scared the crap out of my DH. I have never fainted in my life, so I'm a bit worried myself. I talked to my OB, and he said that it was common and said that the events leading up to it made me a perfect candidate for fainting. I had vomitted and lost all my dinner about 15 minutes earlier. We were attempting to do my PIO shot, and the first two sticks we hit a vein and drew back blood. So of course, had to start with a fresh needle, etc. By the third stick, I had been standing for quite a while. Started feeling woozie, asked my husband if we were done, and the next thing I knew I was in the floor with my husband yelling at me trying to wake me up while bleeding on the carpet. He pulled the PIO needle out on the way down. Fortunately, he helped to break my fall, so I don't believe I hit the ground very hard. It was quite an evening. My DH spent the next hour knocking back some vodka and cranberry juice trying to calm down. Have any of you had any fainting episodes? Just hoping this was truly "normal" given the pregnancy and the situation and not something more serious.

baylor - I am prone to fainting and whenever I am sick i always faint - something to do with blood pressure I was told - prob did not help that DH had to jab you three times with PIO!!! - hope your feeling better now ??

how bizarre are our bodies i have suddenly developed evening sicknes for last week around 5pm this wave of nausea just hits me along with indegestion .. joy oh joy - but just keep thinking at least it means something is happening inside my belly !!!

Hi baylorbear:

Just to reassure you, I have heard that this is very common in pregnancy. I believe typically it has something to do with low blood sugar (ie, if you didn't have food in you, for example) although low blood pressure could also be a factor.

I am sorry that it happened to you in such a dramatic fashion! I did almost faint twice in a row just watching a procedure where I had to stand on end for about 15-20 minutes, and I had to quickly kneel to the floor to recover to avoid fainting completely. And, I NEVER faint, so that's definitely the pregnancy!!

Take care!

wishfull27 - congrats on the twins... I know how overwhelming it can be to find out you are having multiples. With my first IVF and pregnancy, we knew there were twins, but found out later there were triplets. Take some time to digest the information and I'm sure you will super-excited about the news.

As for me, just waiting to see the OB tomorrow. FINALLY! Can't wait to see out little bean again. Still nauseous and vomitting, but it's worth it.

Wishfull - Congratulations! Shock, no doubt. I guess that happens when there are so many weeks between ultrasounds - just imagine, some people don't find out until the 20 week u/s. Now, at least you have time to process and prepare - so happy to hear that both heartbeats are strong! Are you showing? I have noticed that many mothers of multiples show by 12 weeks.

Baylorbear - Good wishes on your OB visit and tell us about it!

Everyone else: How is everyone doing? Just hanging onto getting through? Everyone okay?

Ladies, saw the OB today and got to see the heartbeat again! It was 168 bpm today. We talked through my treatment plan given my history, and bottom line, he is going to be seeing a lot of me. He agreed that I was a good candidate for the 17P weekly injections, so we will start those around week 17. We have the Nuchal Translucency screening set for 12 weeks, a check-up at 14 weeks, a level-two u/s for 15-16 weeks just to rule out anything, and he wanted to start seeing me weekly beginning in the 17th week. There was no cause for concern with the pregnancy, just trying to stay ahead of the curve given my history. Hope you are all doing well.

Hey all,

Hopeful and Belle - how did your appointments go?

Wishfull - has it sunk in yet?!!! I have my second u/s (NT scan) next Tuesday, so I am looking forward to just seeing our little one!

Daisy - I think your NT scan is next week (Friday?) - Good luck!

Abogenpohl - So glad to hear that all is well for you!

Baylorbear - That's great that you will get so much personal ongoing care over the next while - that should help you feel more at ease, with more information and monitoring.

Everyone else - Hope all is well and you are all just getting lots of sleep

AFM - Still doing well, bits of nauseau, but really am not feeling very pregnant, so I think I am one of the lucky ones....

Hi Ladies –

Wishfull – Congrats on the twins! That is soooo exciting!!! I can’t believe they made you wait until now for a 2nd scan to see if the 2nd baby developed a hb. I would’ve been going crazy wondering what was going on! I’m so happy for you guys!!

Baylorbear – I feel so bad for you with the nausea. I’ve only thrown up a few times and consider myself to be lucky. What are 17P shots? I’m glad your doctor will be watching you so closely. That’s got to make you feel better about it.

Abogenpohl – I was so sorry to read about you losing baby b. I know from experience how gut wrenching that is. It is such a double edged sword… you feel so sad for the loss, happy to still have one, guilty for feeling happy, guilty for feeling sad and not staying strong… at least that’s how I was. I hope you doing ok with it all now. I’m glad you had a great appt the other week and got to see your babe!

MonkeyGirl – I’ve noticed the same thing about being out of breath. A couple flights of stairs and I’m definitely winded at the top. I’m still doing step aerobics but not pushing hard like I used to. I think I need to get on a treadmill a couple times a week to make up for it.

Sabi – how are the babies? Are you showing yet? How are you planning on telling people?

Hopeful – Welcome! How exciting (yet probably shocking and terrifying) to have triplets! Any news on the 3rd little one? Did the hb come up? I’m praying to hear good news from you.

Ck121, Belle-02, Daisy106 – How are you ladies doing?

A few questions for everyone…
For those who did it… how did your nuchal tests go?
How’s the weight gain going? Any bumps yet? Are you having to wear maternity clothes yet?
Who is finding out the sex at the 20 week scan?

AFM – Can’t believe I’m at 13 weeks. I am sooooooo relieved to have gotten this far, and so relieved to be done with PIOs and suppositories (yes… I had to do both!). I’m getting more energy and can make it through the day with out feeling exhausted. Nausea is actually worse now when I feel it, but it is not every day. Met with my OB a couple of weeks ago and figured out a “plan of attack” for managing this pregnancy. I’ll be doubling up on appointments starting around 28 weeks. My last pregnancy I developed pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome and almost died from the emergency c-section. If I make it to 37 weeks without developing it, they’ll do an amnio to see if the baby’s lungs are mature and then go ahead with a scheduled C. I guess the amnio at that point is WAY less risky than early on.

As for answering my own questions… We decided against the nuchal. I’ve gained about 4 pounds so far and really have more of a tire around my waist than a cute little bump. I have the “muffin top” look as I spill out over the top of my pants. Pants are getting snug so I tried on a pair of my maternity pants from last time and was swimming in them. Funny how last time at the end I was bursting out of them. We are not finding out the baby’s gender… keeping it a surprise.

Hope you are all doing well!!
