Michele - I am still wishing you the best of luck that you sill start the Sept. cycle! Glad to know that your levels are starting to come down.

Wolffie - how did your b/w & u/s go? huh, huh, huh???!!! I'm happy you were able to tell your boss about the procedure. That should help relieve some stress!

Dtao - I am doing the 'Stay away OHSS' dance for you!!!! I hate that your trip was put off, but it's probably better if you do stick around home with all this going on. As far as th hotel goes, if you feel comfortable with it, just be truthful. I have found that telling them about medical reasons for cancellations results in not have lose a deposit. Just tell them it has to do with a pregnancy and your Dr. wants you to stay close to home. My clinic recommends that I do nothing for the first day and then 'take it easy' for the next 2. No lifting, bending over, exercising, etc. Just pretend you've had abdominal surgery and "baby" yourself... LOL! Sorry, my sense of humor is kinda lame sometimes.

Neffi - Don't blame you about not wanting to use medications for anything else. We take enough as it is! Happy to hear that you will be moving forward. WooHoo! One step closer! :D

Stats - Glad you are more relaxed this time. I am too. that really makes a difference. Where do you go camping? I love to camp and I am looking forward to it this fall. We are looking for a new place to go that is kid friendly and fifth wheel accessible. Not too sure about the lupron on a plane. May want to contact the airline you are using and ask their policy on medications. You may be able to carry a small cooler with an ice pack to keep it cold. To highlight something (this site has been messed up for several days) just put your cursor @ the beginning of what you want to highlight, hold the shift key down and use your arrow button until you have it all and then use your mouse to click on the bold. Hope that works!

Hi ladies -

how are you all doing today? I'm hoping that this will be the last day of this super humid, swampy weather! We have 2 dogs that are going stir crazy (which means they're driving me crazy!) Ok, ordered yet again more meds (I'm scared to add up how much was spent this summer!) at least they wont charge / deliver til Sept 1 which I asked for. By, this point, this pharmacy had better send us a Christmas card!

dtao - welcome! sorry to hear that you had to cancell a vacation.

michele - So glad to hear that your E2 is decreasing! I'm still hoping for you to cycle in Sept! thats an awful lot of people to cook for! You'll be in the kitchen for days! but what a fab 1st b-day she will have!

wolffie - That is so great that your boss is understanding! That lets you avoid added stress that you certainly dont need. GL with your b/w & u/s today!

shelby - Which protocol are you on?

neffi - you said it, sister! Enough with the meds already! It looks like you will be all set!

j&c - Stick & stir! you're too much!

stats - Wow you lucky girl, so much traveling! Have a great time! Shelby is right, ask your airlines, about their regulations

Hugs & PMA to us all - xoxo

shelby - Antagonist this time. They think that the lupron oversuppessed me last month. I think I'm too sensitive to it. But then again, with ivf #1 i actually made it to ER /ET and that was on a micro flare, I give up trying to figure it out. I think I'll stay in the back seat for this one. take care - xoxo

Geez, I can't believe my screw up. My appt. for my b/w and u/s is actually for TOMORROW! I totally had the wrong day. I showed up sat there and then oops....they have me down for tomorrow. Oh well.

dtao - sorry your trip had to be canceled. I agree with Shelby, just be honest with the hotel. HOpefully they will be understanding. My RE office also says 'bed rest' day of transfer and then take it easy for the next two days. I was told to be a couch potato. I was then told no exercising or sex until the beta.

Michele - YAY for lower E2 levels! I hope things keep looking up for you!

Neffi - I hope AF shows up for you soon. I think we all echo you on the fact that enough is enough with the meds!

statsgoddess - Wow, so much traveling! Exciting! Where are you off to?

katie - are you out of pocket with your meds?

Does anyone else's skin break out from all the meds? I feel like I am in junior high again. I don't remember it being like this with my first cycle. I can't seem to do anything about it either. A new zit just seem top pop up every time one goes away. It is driving my crazy!

Thanks for everyone's concern. I feel you guys are the only ones who know what's going on. Yesterday I told my husband I got up in the middle of the night so didn't get much sleep (ovaries in pain, I'm guessing), and he told me HE didn't sleep well either (because I was tossing and turning)!

As for Vegas, the hotel had no problem with my rescheduling (Labor Day wknd now), it was my my mom I didn't know how to explain to. I feel bad because I was the one who picked this weekend, so I didn't know how to get around telling her about the IVF. But thankfully, I just told her I wanted to reschedule and she assumed something came up. She's tactful like that. Anyone else struggle with keeping the infertility thing a secret? Me and my husband haven't told anyone because I don't want all the "advice" and "condolences". But then I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to.

On the plus side, my u/s looked very good this morning. 10 very good eggs, possibly more. I am electing to pay for a double round of IVF (insurance in case this one doesn't take), and hCG should be tonight. I'm freaking out about that too-- saw the needle. And I don't know about my husband jabbing me in the butt with that. The nurse told me it won't hurt, but I think she's lying.

Retrieval should be Friday morning. For you ladies who've gone through it, is it very painful afterwards? This is all so sudden... we thought we were doing an IUI cycle, and then it turned into all this!

dtao-- what do you mean by you are paying for double? Do you have insurance? Just curious what that means. And as far as the ER goes....afterwards I have always been a little sore, but nothing crazy. I recommend to drink a lot of gatorade! Your RE will give you instructions but you should be good by the next day. Some ladies seem to have more pain that others....I guess it depends on you and your doctor. Good luck!

Shelby-- I am a high school English teacher, and I've taught mostly freshmen for the last 6 years. But I am hoping to land an assistant principal job in the next year or two... depending on whether and/or how many children we end up having.

Neffi-- My clinic has 3 payment options: one IVF cycle for about $10K, two for about $12K upfront with $2K for the second procedure, or three for about $14K upfront with $2K each for the subsequent procedures.

I'm hoping I'll get some frozen embryos out of this cycle whether I get pregnant or not, so the second cycle is insurance.

No one has told me the difference between stomach injections and butt injections yet!

dtao- i don't know the difference between injection sites either. maybe someone cal tell us.

wolffie- lol! that's definitely something i would do. good luck tomorrow on your tests.

shelby- how are the shots going?

katie99- glad to hear you'll be able to get started soon! the christmas card from the pharmacy better come with a gift certificate for a year's worth of free prescriptions!! lol!

afm- i am so pissed off and excited all at the same time. i trigger tonight for ER on friday. :D the nurse, not my usual nurse, did not call me by the time the clinic closed today to give me the results/instructions. i had to call the answering service! she asked me about any health problems and i told her i have asthma. this was not the first time i told anyone that or documented it. in fact, the RE looked up some of my medications to make sure they were ok to take during injectables. she asked me if i had been told that i needed clearance from my allergist, and i said no. she went to check but couldn't find out anything. she said to get clearance just in case. i called my allergist and his receptionist left me a message (just as they closed for the day) to tell me the allergist must see me before he clears me. if i can't get an appointment tomorrow, this will have all been for nothing!!! i told DH and all he said was "uh huh." i started crying and told him i needed some support through this. he just said that everything will be fine and to call him when i left my office. he can be so insensitive! in the meantime, my ovaries are so big that i have to be careful they don't twist and i can hardly walk! i'm so sorry for going off, but i'm about to lose it...

mjay-- I am taking my trigger shot tonight as well! They did ask me also if I had any allergies, which I don't. Is your asthma bad? I'm pretty sure the hCG is reconstituted in saline, so I don't see why that would have anything to do with your allergies. Regardless, I hope it all works well for you.

As far as your husband goes, haha, I've been going through that too: my previous post on mine trying to beat me on how little sleep he got. But sometimes I think he's walking on eggshells becaues of my grumpy moods that he doesn't know what to say. I see that you are doing IVF because of low sperm count. Maybe he's feeling guilty?

dtao - As for the PIO shot for me, most didn't hurt, but some did. I iced before and heated with massage afterwards. I think it helped a bit. My DH is a total clutz, but he gave me every shot last (and he will this time too). I'm a big baby with needles, and he did a GREAT job. Yours will too! I don't remember being in pain after the ER, just a little groggy. You'll do great!! Can't wait to hear how many eggs you have to work with!

For the injections, my lupron/follistim/menopur injections are all done in the belly, because they are small needles and subcutaneous. The PIO injections (much longer needle) are intermuscular, so they go in the back hip. At least, that's what I've understood.

mjay - OH MAN - that totally stinks!!! Men are such dorks sometime. I'll pray that you're able to get into your allergist, so he can sign off for your ER on Friday. It will work out. Keep us updated!

Mjay - my shots are going great. Kids are doing a wonderful job, but we have more important things to talk about right now...

I'm so sorry you are going through all this stress, Sweetie! Let me tell you what I would do: First off, call the RE office first thing in the morning. If you speak to YOUR nurse and explain that this is not a new finding and that RE already knows about it, problem solved. They may not even need anything else.
However, if they continue to want clearance: How long has it been since you have seen the allergist? Some physicians will go ahead and write a release if you have seen them within a specific period of time without a new appointment, but you have to speak to the nurse for that. Usually the MD doesn't give the receptionist power to make those kind of decisions.
If it has been a while, I would call the allergist's office first thing in the morning and speak to the receptionist. Explain to her your situation (and if it were me I probably wouldn't be able to hold the tears in so a little more sympathy won't hurt  ). Be sure she understands that you have spent months and a lot of $ to do this and it all rides on a little piece of paper now. You're not a new patient, and all you need is for him to wave his little wand and sign a release. I'm hoping the first suggestion works that way you don't have to jump through so many hoops! But calm down!!! We will get you throught this!

Also, I'm not sure where your allergist office is in relation to your work, but if it is close, I would go pick up the paper personally so I can have it in my greedy little hands. Otherwise, have them fax it to the RE office, but call the RE office in 30 minutes to MAKE SURE that it gets there. If not, call the allergist office again. it may sound pushy, but under the circumstances, sometimes some urgency is in order. They are not in your shoes, but would want the same treatment if they were.

I wish you the best of luck and again, chin up! You're going to make a baby and that has to make you want to smile! :D
