How hard is it to switch RE's??

Post by tc4474 »

Hi Ladies,

I am posting on behalf of a pal who is also going through the infertility process and is looking to switch RE's. She has used an RE for IUI but they are super expensive for IVF and they arent super happy with the service there.

Can anyone share some experience on how hard it was to switch RE's and move forward with IVF? Do they use the old RE's files or do they make you go through an entirely new eval? I know each doc is different we thought we would see what others have gone to.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Thanks!

Hi,
I went through 9 rounds of IVF and switched clinics after my 3rd. It was very easy to switch clinics. Before deciding, I requested a copy of my file from my old clinic and then met with the new clinic to discuss what had been done to this point. They were then able to give them their approach and explain how it would differ.
When I finally decided to switch, all they needed was the copy of the file that I already had. They didn't require any new/updated tests since they had copies of those results.
If your friend doesn't feel comfortable with her clinic, then she should definitely find another one. They are plenty out there and I am sure that they'd be happy to take her.
