subchorionic hemorrhage

Post by sorcet »

so after my good u/s my MD called me this afternooon and said they saw a small (1cmx 2cm) subchorionic hemorrhage, i was napping so a little sleepy while she explained that this does increase the miscarraige rate but usually things go just fine. so my question is ive been reading online about it and it says if your asymptomatic no bleeding or cramping ( i havent had either) it does not increase the risk of miscarraige. Does anyone know anymore about it?

Re: subchorionic hemorrhage

I have this as well, however I have had bleeding but no cramping. The first two days were gushes of red blood, but since then just brown spotting. Three weeks later I am still spotting a little bit, but it seems to be subsiding for the past three days now. A subchorionic bleed happens in a good precentage, I believe I read about 20% or so of pregnancies. The miscarriage rate in those is about 3%. The higher risk factors are more the size of the bleed and how early the bleed occurs in pregnancy. It is more common in multiples and some studies show more common in IVF pregnancies as well. If your bleed is small, no cramping and no bleeding, I would say you and your baby will be just fine. Drink lots of water, it will help your body absorb the bleed and take it easy! Hopefully by your next scan the bleed will be gone. Even for us that do bleed out and do for a while, we still have good outcomes. My twins are both still happy and healthy and completely unaware of the bleeding going on around them. Bottom line is I don't think you have anything to worry about. :) I have heard more success stories with this type of bleed than not. :D
