Morning Ladies! I wanted to quickly post that everything went perfect this morning at my scan! We saw baby flick moving around and he/she has a big head!!! Hb was 157 and I convinced my RE to do another scan next week at 9weeks! That will make me a little less nervous!! Baby was measuring exactly at 8w3d-I feel very relieved

lou - yay for getting a great OB, you're soooo lucky! I only get access to my spectacularly unhelpful midwife throughout the whole pregnancy and that's it, no doctor or consultant! My Nuchal scan gave me a low risk assessment so no-one suggested any more invasive tests anyway. It's a matter of personal opinion but I wouldn't consider termination for any event, so even had the Nuchal scan given me high risk assessments for Downs and the other things it looked at, I wouldn't have wanted to risk an amnio, even though the chance of miscarriage is very low. But as I said, personal opinion, and I think the decision is ultimately led by what you would do with the information.

Steph - that's great that you only have to wait another week to see the little ones again. Good luck for your NTS (I take it that's the Nuchal scan?) and for being cleared for some 'fun' soon!

claud - yippee for little baby Flick!

AFM, according to the online departure board for the airport, and the airline's website, our flight to Dubai is taking place. UK airspace has been open since 10pm last night. Now we just have to make our way to the airport and keep our fingers crossed that nothing happens in the next few hours to bugger up the flight plans! Hopefully this time tomorrow I'll be sitting by the pool in Dubai - I'll keep as up to date with all of you as I can over the next 10 days, but take care everyone!!

Claudia - Glad all wet well today at your appt, I am sure there will be more of the same tomorrow for your ob appt. So where are Flick's pics??

Lou - Just wanted to add that my little ones were measuring 4 days behind too that early. Now they are right on track, for now. lol I know that won't always be the case for me since twins tend to be smaller in size at the time of delivery. However, your little peanut will pick it up, you will see! Nothing to worry about as long as he/she is growing and still in normal range! :)

Hazel - Yes it is the nuchal translucency scan, it was a good excuse to have another scan right away. lol Otherwise I would have to wait at least 5 weeks until my next ob appt and there is no telling he would have done a scan then. So I might have had to wait till 20 weeks. EEK! lol This way dh can be there to see them wiggling. :) I hope I can have some fun soon! I'm dying over here! Once I can I won't go crazy of course, just would like the option to be able to. ;) Have fun on your trip to Dubai! I am so jealous! lol

Steph -- Boo for "no fun" yet! I'm right there with ya. And thanks for the piece of mind on my baby's size. At first he/she was curled up a bit and measured a week behind then seemed to turn over and measure only 4 days behind. So position is probably a lot of it too.

Claud -- Soooo happy your u/s went well! Please post that sono pic for us to see too!!!

Katie -- I'm right with you on the moodiness thing. Ugh, it's annoying to feel like a ***** and know you're being one in hindsight...hehe. How are you feeling today?

Hazel -- First off... YAY for Dubai!!! I know I really lucked out with my OB. Thanks for your input on amnio testing too. I'm really hoping my NT scan is low risk also so I don't have to make that choice. The stats for my old age are scaring me though.

AFM -- Feeling good today. Taking Wednesday's off from the gym so heading home in a few to spend the evening with DH since it's his day off today. I did tell my staff at work that I am pregnant. Many seemed happy and excited. There were 5 or 6 dropped jaws that couldn't seem to close. And even 1 or 2 who refused to believe it until I showed my u/s pic. The news traveled VERY fast and within an hour it was all over the hospital as I was stopped by a physician (who's wife is pregnant btw) and he was so very congratulatory. I'm happy he is having another child because he lost a daughter about a year ago to a terminal illness. This one is a girl for him too. I'm so lucky to have so many supportive people in my life right now. This includes all of you.
Bless you all. XOXO

Lou - I am having the 1st trimester screening done on Fdiday with my 12 week u/s but I have chosen not to have an amnio unless absolutely necessary.

Claudia - Glad scan went well! It is always a good day after a reasurring u.s!

AFM - My DS has a stomach so I am praying not to get it on top of m/s this would put me over the top!

Good baby "growing" wishes to us all!

Hi everyone -

Well today I got a call from the imaging center that did our NT scan, and they said that everything was within normal limits! YAY! I wont get the detailed results until my next OB appt on the 30th, but I tell you all that I'm feeling pretty happy so far. Its really a strange feeling sometimes to realize that i have NO INFO whatsoever about this baby's backround, medical history, traits, etc. Its not even something I think about often either, but sometimes, like today when I let out a huge sigh of relief that it makes me think of where this donor embie came from. Dont get me wrong now, I know for a fact that if were still trying with my eggs that I wouldnt be pregnant right now - I'm sure of it. But some days I wonder "will this baby be funny? or smart? or have allergies?"
Its anyones guess. Then I got to thinking that this will be an only child - UGH I hate that thought! I 'm an only child and I spent my entire childhood facinated by my friend's siblings and their noisy, busy houses that always had someone to play with. It got me wondering if I would be willing to go through this again? I dont mean cycling, I'm done with that, I meant whether or not I would have the energy to go for number 2 with donor embies? Because I'm now 41 and yes, I know lots of women older than me still cycling, but I'd be 42 if this were to ever come to fruition. Of course my DH LOVES the idea of 2 kids, but his part is
hmmmm, just a tad easier, dont you think?

Steph I had my NT done at 12w6d so that would be 1 day earlier than your will be - I'll cross my fingers now that you get yours abdominally! I think with 2 in there that shouldnt be a concern. Oh, your poor puppy! Thank God he/she was found by good hearted dog people! I would lose my mind if I lost either of my 2 beasts! - Ummm, sex? I think I've forgotten what that is! If it makes you feel any better we havent since the middle of Jan - Yes Jan! 2 weeks before the ET actually.

Gi hee heee, my DH does the same thing asking me if I'm ok every 10 minutes - last week I answered him with "I'm the same as I was 10 minutes ago"
I dont get this ultimate fighting nonsense - more like ultimate testosterone!

KTelise The plan was to be off of progesterone by 12w - but after switching me from injections to just Crinone at 11.5 wks my P4 dropped from over 80 to 20 - so that was a big drop! by now the placenta has taken over progesterone production (hopefully) but will they test you after weaning you down? 50 is a great number though.

Hazel Ooooh, i hope you're on your way to your holiday right now! Have a safe flight and a wonderful holiday! No, you werent confused, i must have forgot to update you all. The OB that I originally wanted didnt have an appt until mid -may! So I figured it would be best to switch to a different medical group and be able to go to the hospital that I want - so I did. So the end result was that I now have an OB that I dont know, but I wont have to risk running into my exSIL at the hospital that I dont care for anyway - plus bonus this hospital is only 20 minutes away and has a brand new L& D unit (labor & delivery)

Lou I have to say that we are both leaning towards a boy, but of course will be just as happy with a girl. I just stress the idea of a teenaged girl in this hyper sexed society though. What these poor girls are up against these days! Yikes! Plus I was a raging terror in my teens - and thinking of Karma & payback...
Since these were donor embies I dont have the fears I would have if they were from my eggs. Now that the NT came back WNL I'm not thinking of doing the ammnio, unless my OB finds some reason to want to. But that scares me - after all of this to risk a m/c? ugh! I'm sure that your NT will put your mind at ease.
I love that your OB did IVF! Oh, doesnt that make things so much easier? Ummm, wait a minute - if they are treating you as a geriatric OB patient - well then that makes me nervous as I have 4 years on you!! I flat out asked my OB if he considered me high risk and he said no - I wonder if he'll change his tune later on? Did you say that yours said you'll see the HR OB in your 2nd trimester? Hmmm, now I'm wondering - and you're a total athlete compared to my lazy ass.

Claudia YAY for the comfort of a good u/s! And you lucky girl get to maybe have another one tomorrow!! Hee hee, i thought my sono pics looked like mine has a big heasd too! - its just the way they grow right now - soon things will even out. Hey, thats a great idea you had! i think that combining the winterand spring threads sounds great! Good luck with your 1st OB appt tom - get some good pics of Flick, please!

hugs & prayers to us all - xoxo

Steph,

I am sure your scan will be just fine, and I sure hope you are cleared for some "fun" soon! I cannot even imagine having any fun right now, I feel so not sexy. Hard to feel up to much of anything when I am heaving all the time. Hopefully it will get better soon!

Hazel,

I am so hoping you are in Dubai! I am with Steph, so jealous!

Katie,

So your RE won't tell you anything about your embie's bio parents? Can he, or is HIPPA not allowing him to? Glad to hear your scan went well. I totally get you on only having one baby. That is how I ended up on my third!!!! We wanted a sib for our oldest, got accepted into an IVF study with my RE, and this pg is a result of the extra embies created during the IVF. At least my all embies were given a chance to live and I don't have any left to try and decide what to do with them. And yes, your DH has it pretty darn easy if you decide to go again.......no fair!

lou,

hehe, geriatric pg woman! I am so with you! With my last pg, the OB's considered me high risk just because of my age, cannot hardly wait to hear what they have to say now! The stats on risk are pretty scary, you just have to remember, chances are good that your baby bean is just fine. Do not focus stats, you will drive yourself crazy!

afm, not much going on with me. M/s is still going hot and heavy, its miserable! I go see OB tomorrow, actually one of three OB's. You get whoever is on call when its time to deliver. I have gotten the same OB with both my girls, so I am thinking I am going to tell him, regardless if he is on call or not, he needs to deliver my last baby! Only seems right doesn't it? Oh and I cannot remember who asked about the belly bands, but I say buy some! I have two and I love them. They are my saving grace right now. I am not big enough for my pg clothes, but getting too much buddha belly for my regular clothes. :D

Ronda - Sucks you are still having issues with m/s, it should start to ease up soon! The placenta should be taking up producing the progesterone and your body won't have to so in the next week or two I hope it is all gone and you can feel back to normal.. or within guidlines. lol I am sure my scan will go fine, I basically wanted it as an excuse to see them again. He went for it because of the IVF otherwise, I am not sure he would have said ok since I have no other risk factors. I saw on the order for the NTS he put my age as 32, so he fibbed on my age a little, maybe to help me get the scan??

Katie - I am surprised you know nothing of the donors. I would assume you would have to know some things like race and some health history?? I have embies left over and plan to donate them as you know and I would want the parents to know our race, hair and eye color, and important health history. When I donated eggs, I had to give them everything up to my grandparents, including education as well as a personality test that took an hour to complete AND see a phychiatrist to make sure I was "ok" to be giving my eggs away. I even had to give a picture (to the clinic they said the clients wouldn't see it) they said that's why they chose me. They thought I was pretty. lol Anyway... I am surprised they don't give you even a little to go with the embies when I had to give so much for my eggs. Glad everything is good though! I am sure your weren't really worried. :) So... thinking on maybe another one?

Ktelise - They haven't even confronted me about an amnio yet. I don't think they will unless something comes up abnormal. I am sure you won't need one. :)

Lou - You are right! Position has a lot to do with it. Funny cause the doc first accidently measured the legs with the one baby and it came out to 12w5d and I was like WOW, what is that one eating??? lol Then he did it again and it was normal. :D So because he/she was curled up it didn't look like the legs were included at first. He was really still then after he started kicking around he sprawled out pretty good, good enough to remeasure. :) So you told everyone at your staff meeting? Funny how a couple dropped their jaws. lol I guess they were surprised. Good thing about the doc with the new baby girl on the way. I had a guy I briefly knew about 10 years ago. He was tortured by the fact that his girlfriend was pg and had an abortion without telling him. He was crushed and constantly had dreams about it being a little girl. He was tormented by these thoughts, he was without a doubt that he would have had a girl and all the "what ifs". I told him not to worry because her soul still lives and she will try to make her way back to him someday. Those words comforted him in such a way that no other words of condolences had. He called me an angel and named a dish after me. He owned his own restaurant in Florida. :) So... maybe... just maybe... your doctor firend, his little girl is coming back to him???

Katie - Would you ever consider regular adoption? I know you are ok with not having a child of your own genes because you used donor embies, so just curious if you would adopt a baby that's already here. We have adopted two children and let me just tell you...the best thing we ever did (well, that and this IVF cycle of course!). I wonder about their birthparents all the time, we pray for them, and I am hoping to do a search for them in the next few years.

I'm sorry you don't have any info on the donors...I know how hard it is to just not know. Maybe your RE can contact the donors and see if they would be willing to give you any medical info? It's hard filling out those forms for the peds office and saying "unknown - adopted" to everything. But no matter what, our kids are worth it!

Hi all, glad to hear everyone is still doing ok.
Went for b/w yesterday at the RE, told the tech that I hadn't be given a picture of the last two u/s and she found the u/s tech and they gave me 5 pictures! I don't know how to get one on my message, I've tried pasting it but I can't get it paste. Any suggestions. Baby moving nicely, I think all is well but I've been brown spotting since last weeks bleeding. I wish I knew why. I have a call into the OB but haven't heard back yet. Since I've had practicaly no symptoms I can't say the 2nd trimester is less eventfull. My boobs are less sore and I can't fit into anything but other then that nothings changed. Next u/s is on the 4th at the paranatologist, we aren't doing an amnio or any of the other tests. Wish I could show you the pics of slodge, maybe next time!

Ktelise -- Good luck on your first trimester screening on Friday. I know it will be fine. I can't wait for mine to be over so I have that piece of mind too. I agree with you on not doing an amnio unless really necessary.

katie -- Yay for NT being normal! I'm an only child too and it's not the worst thing in the world (as you know). Remember, just as we envied our friends larger families, they envied us and longed for our apparently "spoiled" lifestyles like having our own rooms, etc. But the grass is always greener... Have you considered adopting an infant if you do decide to have more children instead of using a donor? I guess I thought perhaps we'd try IVF once more in about a year from now and if that didn't work, I would have adoption in my back pocket as an option if we decided we had to have more kids. Who knows, maybe we'll even decide "one and done" is the way to go too. As for seeing a HR OB, I think it was based purely on my age because the baby was conceived with my eggs. I don't think it has anything to do with the physical shape I'm in. Maybe that's why it wasn't recommended for you.

Gi -- Can't wait for you to be able to tell everyone about your pregnancy too! It was so much fun to do.

Ronda -- Thanks for the advice. I know the odds are in my favor but it's still nice to hear it too. I'm sorry you are still down with m/s.

Steph -- Yup... my staff was super surprised. All really seemed happy for me too so that's nice. I even got the comment today "it's so nice to hear you talking about this". And all the women are giving me advice on babies already. I didn't share that it was IVF... that's too private for everyone.

DrBoots -- Welcome to our board! Congrats on your little bean. How are you feeling? Any m/s yet? I have been lucky to not have any. I have had the occasional headache and fatigue though.

AFM -- Well, I thought I would ask around at work to check on the theory that no m/s means BOY and m/s means GIRL. It flopped bigtime. One woman had bad m/s with all three pregnancies and she had 3 boys. Another had m/s and she also had boys. Another had no m/s with either child and she had a boy and a girl. So that theory is merely a wives tale. I decided I have to make friends with someone in my ultrasound dept so I can get a scan at 14 weeks and find out the sex. I feel like once I know, I can be even more excited! Only problem is, DH doesn't want to know. Hmmm... how do I change his mind?
I wanna see everyone's belly's... post some pics guys!

Hi everyone

How are you all doing today? I've been trying to post for the last hour but my DH has called me every 5 minutes
He had a speeding ticket and went to court ( in a small town) to find out that traffic court is closed today and he went into a panic over what to do since there was just a note on the door with no further instructions - fun, yes? So a thousand calls later, I ended up calling the police office I was told that only means he should call them in the morning, and here the poor guy stood there for 30 minutes just waiting..... sigh. But at least he decided to pick up some really good meatball heroes for dinner - YUM! Yep, I'm still not craving anything but meat and cheese, oh well.

Ronda - I'm pretty sure thats its HIPPA causing my RE to not disclose anything other than that they look similar to us, dont have any major medical issues and that they had multiples from this batch and are now "done with babies". I asked my RE a few times and rephrased my questions so that he wouldnt feel like he was breaking any HIPPA laws by answering - but nothing. I'm sorry that your m/s doesnt want to let you go already! You poor thing! How are you managing to take care of everyone? I hope that your DH has stepped his game up  My OB office works the same way, I'll have to see all 4 Drs and whoever is on call on the big day - well thats the one who delivers you. I've only met 1 so far and my next appt is also with him, but I guess theres lots of time left, right?

Steph That was all of the info we got, race- he said they "look similar to you both" well my DH is 6'5' and I'm 5'10" so I dont get why he wouldnt tell us their height? As far as health hx he said " they have no major medical issues" but that doesnt make it easier either. I would love to know hair & eye color too. I think the laws vary state to state. I did ask my RE flat out for those things and he said " I'm not in a position to say" sigh. How is your new house coming along? Does it feel like home yet?

Babyluv I'm open to the idea of adoption, but a domestic adoption runs about 30k - and thats not happening after paying all out of pocket through 6 IVF attempts! I've heard that international adoption has gotten a lot more difficult these past few years. And now Russia has suspended US adoptions due to that woman who changed her mind and put the little boy on a flight back to Russia alone - thanks lady! Embryo adoption is a lot more cost effective since it runs less than 6k. But we'll see what happens after this one, I guess. How are you doing? Has it sunk in yet that you'll be totally outnumbered soon?
Ooooh, you both better sleep as much as you can now!

Gi Oh, honey - me too! I was so happy to give away the last of my stimming meds! Thats it for cycling for me! How are you feeling? How is your Mam?

Dr Boots Welcome! Glad to hear that you're feeling good and your pg is moving right along! When is your EDD? and upcoming appts? So I can add it to our list? Well we'll all be together for a long time, so I have to ask - what is your first name? or any first name? I cant imagine calling you Dr Boots for the next 7 / 8 months -

Malya Hooray for sono pics and having a healthy baby!

Lou Tee hee, you are right as usual. maybe i should see how having 1 goes first huh? I think thats its you and I that are complety new and clueless to babies - maybe 1 will be more than enough? Lord help us we have a lot to learn  There is a BIG difference between 37yo eggs and 41yo eggs! I'm sure that your NT wont show any soft markers. Listen to Ronda dont stress those stats please!
As for your DH? Well mine didnt want to know either, so I asked him if he really thought that I could keep a secret that big quiet for long - he got my point really quick - LOL Besides, seeing blue or pink nursery decorations would have given it away even if I could manage to keep my big mouth shut!
OK, I'll try to post a belly pic, but I look bloated not pregnant

Claudia How was your first OB appt? Did you get even more pics?

KTelise Good luck at your NT scan tomorrow! cant wait to hear how it goes!

hugs & prayers to us all! - xoxo
