I've been taking OCP since my BFN on December 14. Basically, I have anovulatory PCO and don't get a regular cycle at all. So I take OCP whenever I'm not cycling so that I can control my periods. The plan is to take the OCP until the 7th, stop and get a period for my HSG on 1.18 and then take another pack for a period to start my next fresh IVF.
I've been having some weird spotting though - that's never happened before. Just a tiny bit of spotting, but still blood. I know that spotting can happen while on the pill, but I thought that was usually break-though bleeding around the time of an expected period (especially if you are trying to use the pill to extend your cycle or skip your period). I've been on the active pills for 2 weeks now.... I've never had this kind of spotting, despite taking the pill since I was 15!
Is this nothing to worry about, or reason to call my RE? I will stop my pills on Friday to get a period before my HSG.
thanks!

Hi Leora, I have PCOS too and because I have to travel for my cycles I always have to control my period with BCPs too. I took BCPs between my august and November cycles, after I got AF in September I started my BCPs and like you, I also started spotting like a week and a half or two weeks after, I was scared it was going to mess my next cycle but doctor told me it was normal and to just continue to take the pills.

It's common enough, but as always, report everything to your RE.
