IVF with PDG

Post by vskr72 »

Hello everyone,

I have 4 miscarriages since 2008. The latest one just got diagnosed 4 days back. Me and DH are completely devastated. All the 4 attempts were natural. After the 3rd, we did the chromosomal analysis and it was found that the miscarriage hapenned because of Trisomy 16. Our Obgyn has suggested chromosomal testing for the 4th one also. No body in my family has this issue. I feel very bad that why is it just hapenning for me. Some times, I just avoid freinds, relatives and even some gatherings. Just want to be alone. We wanted to go thru IVF after the 3rd miscarriage. But, the 4th one was a complete accident. Our luck did not support us.

Now we are determined to go thru IVF and PGD route. Its expensive. Will have to cut lot of corners. My question is for us to be prepared physically for theabove procedures, are there any things that we need to follow. We might start this process in next 2-3 months. Lot of sites talk about cleansing etc. i would appreciate if any one can give me some good information about how we can be prepared for these procedures.

Hi Suma,

I just did cycle # 3 with PGD, unfortunately my two genetically perfect little girls didn't stick and I got my BFN last week. I don't know anything about preparing for a cycle when going through PGD. My RE didn't suggest anything and I didn't do anything different then cycle's 1 & 2. What type of cleansing did you read about, I am curious?

I wish you the best of luck on cycle #4! My two other IVF friends that did PGD both got pregnant! 1 is pregnant with Triplets and 1 with a Singleton. I hope you have the same success!

I'm sorry for all that you have gone through. I don't know about PGD, but I can relate to your story. We went through four fresh cycles, 2 negatives and 2 early miscarriages, before deciding to go with donor embryos. This is a hard decision and I know it is not right for everyone, but it is the best decision we could have ever made! We received 8 embryos, transferred 2 and ended up having a miscarriage. At this point I was starting to beleive that I could not carry a baby. But we had embryos left so we tried again. Next cycle was it! Our little miracle was born a little over a year ago! We have 4 embryos left and hope to give him a sibling.

About the "cleansing", I'm not sure there is anything particular you should do. There is a book called "IVF Success Program" that gives suggestions about what foods are good for increasing fertility and also gives suggestions about certain types of yoga, acupuncture, etc. I bought it hoping it could help increase my chances of getting pregnant when we try for number 2. Who knows if any of it actually works, but I figure it can't hurt to try. http://ivfsuccessstories.info/2011/01/t ... am-review/

Please don't give up, we were so close to giving up when we had our little miracle! Good luck to you!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!
