Hello everyone, I've been on bedrest for the past two days and have been searching the internet trying to find out more about morulas. This is my first IVF cycle and after retrieving 15 eggs there was only one morula to transfer and nothing to freeze. The doctor didn't give me great stats on the success of a single morula transfer, has anyone done this? We have mild male factor and mild female factor infertility have had one child from IUI and one natural child. Thanks for sharing your stories it's nice to hear that we are not alone.
Hi there! During my previous cycle, I transferred 2 compacted morulae. Basically, the way my RE explained it, is that its the stage right before they become blasts. He said that it could've been a matter of hours before that would happen, so even though it was a 5dt & they technically should've been blasts, it might just have been the time of the day that my transfer was being done that they haven't become blasts yet.
We were ecstatic b/c we reached several milestones during that cycle...it was our 5th! We had a fertilization rate over 50% & we made it to a 5dt. We had none to freeze, but were happy w/ everything else.
Unfortunately, it was a BFN. But, that doesn't mean anything for you, so please stay hopeful & optimistic! I wish you the best of luck & that you get your BFP! When's your BETA? You should join us over on the Summer Cycle Board.
like moorebaby mentioned it must be just a matter of time of the day. may be later that day after transfer it must have turned into a blast.
we transferred 3 4-cell embryos on day 3 in this cycle. ideally on day 3 it should be 8 cells. but i believe that one of the healthy embryos must have split into 8 cell later that day after transfer...
THanks everyone. The embryologist told me it was almost a blast so I can hope. Just the stats don't look great. One more question, looks like there are multiple pregnancy tests. I thought there was just one? So if it's positive on the first cycle that doesn't mean I'm pregnant for sure? Can someone explain this to me? Congrats on your pregnancy Sunshine!
I only had one to transfer, but it was transfered on day 3 and was 8 cells. This is before it ever got to the morula or blast stage. Who is to know what it would have looked like in the dish on day 5? Anyway... it worked and I'm almost 29 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. NEVER.... and I mean NEVER... give up hope. The bottom line is, you have a live embryo in your uterus! Focus on that.
There is more than one pregnancy test because unlike home pregnancy tests which tell you simply "yes or no", the clinic does a quantitative test which gives you a number or level of HCG in your blood. Healthy pregnancies should have beta HCG levels which rise by at leat 60% every 48 hrs. This is what they are looking for and why you have to go back for multiple tests. My clinic only does two... some do 3 or more.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Okay so now I have light spotting two days before my blood test. I'm assuming that's a bad sign. I usually spot a few days prior to my period so I'm assuming the worst. Is there any reason to still hope? Thanks for all your help everyone.
Spotting can be very normal....can be implantation bleeding, can be irritated cervix, can be from a few other things as well..no worries!!! Hang in there and best of luck!!!!!
PS-I believe a cycle buddy of mine got preggo with twins with 2 morulas, so I think your chances are fabulous! (As others have said, a morula is literally hours away from being a blastocyst!)
Me: 44, endo. & 1 tube due to rupture

Thanks, makes me go to bed with a little hope still in my heart. Will know in 1 1/2 days anyways.
Tuffy there is still lots of hope hun!!! Spotting can be a good sign, as Margi said, it is commonly seen in BFP cycles as implantation spotting. I am saying a prayer for both of us. Only one more day to go!!

Felicia, it's turned into a full on period. They are making me go for a blood test tomorrow but I know my body and know I'm not pregnant. Good luck to you. SOunds like your cycle went much better than me, 2 to transfer and 4 to freeze Keep me posted! One question, was it hard to decide to do another cycle? I'm not sure I can handle the disappointment. Also did you do attain or another program like it? I'm considering it for future cycles. Good luck tomorrow!!!!!
Oh, Tuffy, I am so sorry . I was so hoping you would get your BFP. In terms of my past failed IVF, it took me a couple of months to decide to go for another cycle. It also took us this long because we pay for everything out of pocket except for meds. Unfortunately there are quite a few stipulations in order to qualify for Attain and we do not qualify because we require PGD for Sickle Cell detection. Despite that we talked about it and figured we would keep trying as long as it was financially feasible. We save up for 4-5 months and then try again. It all boils down to what you and your DH decide. The disappointment is so hard, but I think going into the 2nd IVF cycle I have been stronger and my faith is what got me back on board with a positive attitude. I switched doctors for multiple reasons and found one who made me excited to try again. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer and I know that God answers prayers. Keep me posted on what you decide and I will let you know about my beta tomorrow. I pray you find peace of mind, heart and spirit.
