Strange Sensation around neck after PIO injection

Post by HappyBunny »

Has anyone experienced a strange sensation around their neck after a PIO injection? I ask because today, some minutes after the injection, I felt this. It felt like a pressure that came on and off kind of like at the same rate as my heart beat. I could breathe just fine, so I had no trouble breathing. No coughing. It did make my head feel a little light headed each time the feeling around my neck came around. The feeling lasted maybe a minute. Right when I got startled by this sensation I got a short 'adrenaline rush'. Then it went away, but came back a couple of minutes later. The second time around it was very brief. It has been a couple of hours now and I feel fine. Though I perhaps feel a little light headed, but I am not sure if it was due this. I had just gone out to walk for a while to get my blood flowing. It felt like that was the more rational thing to do. I ate some sweets when I got back home which I think it was an hour later. That sensation has not returned. I am just curious if this is serious or not? Has anyone else experienced this before? I also noticed that I bought the wrong needle length for the PIO injection. It is only half an inch long over the one inch to one and a half inch length that was recommended. My guess is that the PIO was delivered to the subcutaneous section of the buttock rather than the muscle under neath. Since the needle was so short. I do not know if delivering the medicine at such a shallow depth, fat region, is hazardous to one's health. The PIO directions does say I.M. use only.

Hi.

Thank you for the replies. I am surprised we have similar names! You must be my long lost internet sister! lol. I was looking through the side effects list for PIO and I noticed anaphylactoid as one of the possible reactions. I am not sure if it was a anaphylactoid reaction, but it did catch my attention. Though, I did not get any hives or had difficulty breathing. It just felt like I had an on and off pressure around my neck. Not the choking type either because I could breathe just find. It just felt like a type of pressure, but with out actual pressure? Has anyone experienced any blood clotting from use of PIO? By that I mean PIO only not other forms of Progesterone, like pill form. I am not sure if the list of side effects I saw for PIO refers to actual PIO or Progestins; which are not bio identical to the progesterone found naturally in the body. A few hours later I checked my pulse manually, after my walk that I mentioned earlier, and it came out normal. Though, I guess it was too late to actually check it, which it should have been when I had the feeling. Another possible symptom, although I feel like it is stretching it a little, is a simple partial seizure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_partial_seizures I only draw that conclusion because when I had that emotion on my neck I got a little startled and I felt how my body's adrenaline kicked in, increased heart rate due to it, and the sensation went away. One of the listed reasons to treat a seizure is by using adrenaline. So... !!! I don't know lol. I found it interesting how subtle a simple partial seizure can actually be. Anyway, I used a one inch needle today, but I used my thigh instead of my buttock. I did not really get that feeling this time. Though I did go out for a walk again just to make sure I get fresh air. I checked my pulse manually after I got back and it came out normal. 90 beats per minute. So I am not sure if the previous episode was caused by the needle length and subcutaneous area where it was delivered rather than muscular. Has anyone ever used PIO subcutaneous rather than intramuscular? Sorry for all of the questions :). I just want to see if I can find someone who had anything similar.

An allergy to PIO is very common. I don't know about the severity though. I am allergic to it, the sesame oil not the progesterone. I am taking P in ethyl oleate which is an alcohol base. I broke out in hives from my belly to my knees. NOT FUN!

Hi! Oh, I see. This one is in Sesame oil too. It makes me wonder if it was due to the oil, but my injection today went fine. I did not get any hives either. Just that feeling on my neck. I have eaten bread with sesame seed before. Though it has been a while now. I do not think I am allergic to the seed.... I am not sure if the same can be applied to the sesame oil after it is processed. Or because my injection was too shallow and not deep enough.... Only a half inch needle....

Okay, I had to go to the ER after all of this started happening. It turns out I have Wolf Parkingson White Syndrome but my symptoms were not WPW related. I also started to notice that I would wake up once at night feeling like something was moving around me. It has been really tough. The doctors at the ER do not know why it is happening. Because even though I have WPW I do not have the classic palpitation symptoms when I feel the other pressure sensation on my neck. It is caused by the progesterone since it happens within 5 minutes of taking it. This all started happening after I mixed Progesterone and HCG together into one injection. Has anyone ever mixed Progesterone in oil and HCG together? If so, have you had this reaction? I was not under an endocronologist care at the time and I had gotten the medicine through someone who had canceled their IVF. THey were sealed and everything. I was wondering if anyone could help. I really need some input right now. I am currently seeing a cardiologist to examine my case of WPW. But they are not sure why the progesterone alone is causing this reaction in me. I did not think mixing the injections together would cause this type of reaction. Thankfully it has stopped after I stopped taking the PIO. I only injected the mixed hcg and pio once. Then I later used the PIO alone thinking it could be because of the mixing. But now the pIO alone is causing this. I have taken PIO before on another occation and i did not get any reaction like that. Though I was doing it intramuscular. This time I had the wrong needle lenght of only half an inch and it was just doing under the skin into the fatty tissue.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Why are you self-medicating with fertility drugs that are not prescribed for you?

Tell the doctors that are treating you what you did - this is really the best thing to do.
