Had an early ultrasound and now I don't know if I should be excited or nervous. Ghost, I know you are always honest, that's why I am asking your opinion.
We saw a sac measuring 5w4d / 5w3d. She measured twice, got two different measurements. We could see a gestational sac and a yolk sac, but no pole or heartbeat. I know it is pretty early for the heartbeats, I guess I am most worried about it measuring a little behind. The nurse says everything looks great, but they have said that before . We went through 3 miscarriages before having our miracle baby, so we have too many reasons to be skeptical. Thanks in advance!!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!
My second son measured a little behind at 7 wks and something. My RE said +/- 3 days was fine. I would be competely fine with those measurements. As you can see from the two different measurements, it's not an exact science.

Congratulations!
A couple days behind is pretty common. Not sure when the pole is seen. The lack of a heartbeat is expected at this point. You should see the heartbeat on the next one. When is the next ultrasound?

Thanks everyone!!! We go back in tomorrow, and I am fully expecting to see the heartbeat at that point (6w2d). It should be able to be seen then right???? Ghost?? I know I will be very worried if it is not, so praying that it will be visible. Thanks agian for the reassurance.

It's usually just become visible by 6 weeks 2 days.

Thanks! We saw and heard the heartbeat today!! It was at 113 bpm and was still measuring a day behind. But the RE thougth everything looked great.
I have a question about how they determine how far along you are. Before I went in for my first ultrasound I thought I was 5w4d and suprised to hear them say I was 5w2d, but didn't think much of it. Then today when I entered my date of 5 day transfer in to a "due date calculator" it told me I was 6w4d (instead of 6w2d like my nurses are saying). This would be exactly what I thought I was in the beginning. (2 days farther along) I know it is not that big of a deal but being behind one day in measurments seems fine but being behind three days seems like a lot.
I was adding days post transfer plus the days leading to transfer (5) plus 14 days leading up to transfer. Any thoughts on how my RE is coming up with it and should I even care??? Thanks, sorry to be a little obsessive, we have just been through soooo much in the past!

Thanks everyone! The way y'all are calculating comes out to the same as the way I was....so why is the clinic saying something different? I know it is only two days, but where are they getting their numbers from. And should I be worried that I would technically be a couple more days off if they are calculating "wrong"? I know they know what they are doing, but it seems wierd that their dates are different than anything I have found. Thanks again!

They are probably using the measurements to calculate. That is the way my RE did it. They calculated the due date by the measurements not the "age" of the embryo. It could be a late implanter or their equipment may not be absolutely accurate. I wouldn't worry about it....I know easier said than done. However, unfortunately, only time will tell how it will turn out. However, at this point I think things look good.

Thanks. They are not using the measurments...they have what you are, then what you are measuring at each appointment. They said I was 6w2d yesterday, but I was measuring 6w1d. The reason I feel a little concerned is because everything else says I was 6w4d, which puts me three days behind instead of 1.
But I agree that time will tell, and I do feel that everything is good. It is just that we went through three miscarriages and with my son he always measured ahead, never behind, even a day.
