2 failed IVF cycles and trying for 3rd

Post by XOXO »

Hi All,

I am a newbie, 30yrs old from IL. First, let me appreciate and thank all the memebers in the forum for such a great job, knowledge and understanding.

Coming to me, my first 2 IVF cycles failed and my RE gave me two options.

1. DHEA and IVF 3 with Lupron, HCG low dose and Follistm. 30-35% chance
2. Donar Egg - 80-85% chance

IVF1 - 3 eggs, 2fertilized, successful embryo trnasfer but failed IVF due to Endometrin cysts.
IVF2 - Stop meds after 10-12 days as i am not responding and my lining is getting thin.
IVF3 - 4 eggs, 2 were fertilized but nothing to transfer. Failed. Despite of high dosage, poor response and only 4 eggs - this was my RE's comments. :(

I am so devasted now and it took me days to digest the fact that i have to go to Donar egg. RE says my issue is quantity and quality of eggs could be due to surgery. Had couple of surguries for cysts and last one removed tubes as they were completely damaged. Reading all your articles, i see some light and feel that using DHEA and accupunture, i can increase my egg quality and quantity.

Please share your thoughts and advice. Does these two really help. My husband is concerned of the success rate with DHEA and want to try donar egg. i need your support and advice on this.

Thank you all.

I've looked at DHEA and some people have had success, others that it didn't help at all. have they changed up protocols? Have you asked a 2nd opinion? At your age I would think you should have a few good eggs in there, you just may not have had the proper protocol to grow and mature the eggs.

Does your insurnace use the IL mandate of 4 cycles? If so, think about donor eggs, if insurance goes under mandate, it will cover the medical part and drugs (I believe). See if that works, possibly have your first child. After first child, if you want more children then try with your own eggs for a 2nd. If that don't work after awhile try IVF again. If under IL mandate you get 4 cycles for the first child and 2 for the 2nd child.

Donor eggs do have a higher chance of success but i have never seen where 85% was quoted. Most clinics range around 70% success. Its hard giving up on your genetics but in the end what counts is that baby in your arms..

Good Luck!!!

Thanks Chris.

This is exactly what my Husband's says. But again as you said it is heard to give up on your own eggs.

IVF1 - Ganerelex, Menapur. 3 eggs retrieved. 2 embies transferred but failed due to cysts.

Second time, difft RE - Ganerelex, Menapur. I wasnt responding at all and also the lining was getting thin. So cancelled.

Third time - Follistm, Lupron, HCG Low dose, Saizen. 4 eggs. ET cancelled as no eggs fertilized.

What do you think about the protocol?? Any idea??

Are you from IL too? Do you know any Accupunturist and Fertility Yoga centers near Vernon Hills, North Suburbs.

Thanks,
Satya

Satya - I am from Wood River, IL.. not too far from St. Louis. I did most of my infertility and acupuncture in St. Louis. I did go to SIRM in Peoria but that is as far north as i got.

Thanks Chris.

Peoria is too far for us. It is almost 2-3 hrs drive from where I live.

Anyone, recommendations for Acupuncture near North suburbs of IL, Linclonshire.
