HI!!!!
I am currently 9 weeks pregnant with triplets....Three weeks ago they found I had a fungus named candida glabrata....my dr treated me with nistatine for 2 weeks, then repeat the test....candidada glabrata was still there.
Last year I M/C twins in my 16 weeks because of this fungus. Needless to say I am terrified that this fungus wont go away. Anyone has been treated of candida glabrata? Which medications are effective?
Did you ever get an answer? I just m/c triplet girls at 18 weeks from candida glabrata. I am so afraid what will happen if we try again. Please share your story with me. I can only imagine your terror. I so hope you had a happy outcome.
Not sure why I never answered before. Perhaps that was when I was away from the board.
Anyway, I will try to get an answer.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
I am not sure if this will help, but I suffered many years with thrush (candida) because of my lupus. I tried all the meds the docs would give me and they help but the thrush would always return. I came across a herbal over the counter for candida and I thought what the heck nothing else seems to help. It is called Threelac and I bought mine online. It is powder and does not taste too bad. I don't know exactly what candida glabrata is, but I thought you might want to look it up & see if it can help you. I have not had thrush in about 4 yrs now Anyways, just wanted to share this with you ladies in case you wanted to look into it. Good luck.
Thank you. Ghost, do you have any more information? Ronnie' are you still out there?
We are trying a seven week course of boric acid (3weeks) and nystatin (4 weeks). And monthly cultures if pregnancy from next ovarian stim. This is a protocol from a drexel univ article about a girl who had a healthy subsequent pregnancy after glabrata. This is a shot in the dark. No one seems to know anything about glabrata in the membranes except that is a rare complication of ivf. Possibly related to progesterone suppositories. We will do all injections at the next cycle (I believe Ronnie did this too).
I will also do accupuncture, royal jelly and pray often for a healthy pregnancy.
Anyone who knows anything about this infection, please help.
Sorry this took way too long. I talked to the RE. The answer I got was that you should check with a perinatologist on this one, not an RE.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately the perinatologists haven't heard of it either. We called people at hopkins, Harvard, and univ of maryland and no one knows how to treat this condition. So, we are going to go with the Drexel univ protocol that worked for one patient and pray.
If anything else comes to mind, please share.
Thank you.
I do not understand why no-one has heard of this(??) and why there is minimal information on how to treat this.
I had read that a patient had 'lavage' treatments for candida, whereby an antifungal wash was used directly inside the uterus. I could be wrong, but I think that the doctor who used this treatment may have been a Dr.Toth who runs a clinic in New York.
I have a problem with candida in that I have adverse reactions to antifungal drugs that are to big for me to cope with. (I have adverse reactions to a number of drugs and foods) I believe that candida may have spread to my endometrium, as a doctor insisted that I have an endocervical swab whilst my thrush infection was raging. I am in constant pain.
[On youtube of all places there is a video showing candidiasis of the endometrium. Women can get fungal pelvic inflammatory disease although it is rare. How is that treated?]
So candida Glabrata remains a mystery.
There is a new article from Australia from 2012. Unfortunately she lost her twins as well.
It seems early detection and systemic treatment is the best. But nothing is proven.
As for me, I did the Drexel Protocol and am happy to say that I successfully carried a singleton to term without evidence of C Glabrata two fresh cycles after I lost the triplets to CG. I did progesterone oil shots ( no progesterone suppositories) as I didn't want any additional instrumentation or possibility for ascending infection.
I have been culture negative ever since 2011.
I hope this information helps.
This is a horrifying disease and I suspect it is more prevalent than we know.
