Estradiol level too high?

Post by mommiewannabe »

Hello
I am new to the whole IVF process (S/P 3 failed IUIs). March 2014 is my first cycle when I stimmed for 9 days with Gonal-F and 3 days of mini dose HCG. I ended up with what they described as "an exuberant response" with my estradiol levels peaking at 4800 despite significant decrease in medication doses. Due to concern for OHSS, they are proceeding with egg retrieval however want to hold off on embryo transfer at this time and wish to proceed with cryopreservation with transfer 6- 8 weeks down the road.. As I am 39, and really anxious to complete this cycle (esp. being as cranky I am on all the hormonal shots), I was quite upset with this news though I know that they only have my best interest in mind.
I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue? From what I have been reading with new techniques, frozen embryos should work as well as fresh? Any input would be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks!

Embryo freezing is common for reducing OHSS risk these days. It works pretty well. If you happen to get OHSS from an hCG trigger injection, it will not last very long. There will be no fresh transfer to make more hCG to sustain it.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
