New to Board

Post by Barny »

Hi everyone,

I've been stalking this board for some time now but never plucked up the courage to post a message until now.

Firstly, I would like to say what a brilliant website this is. I've learnt so much from reading the posts. I admire all of you for having the strength to go through this IVF lark.

My husband and I have been TTC for more than 3 years. I'm 32 and husband 30. I've got PCOS and husband's sperm morphology is borderline.

We underwent our first cycle of IVF in December 2003 which unfortunately resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. :( This was a bit of a bummer because before this my tubes were one of the few normal bits about me. Fortunately, they didn't have to remove the tube. It was slit open to remove the ectopic but I don't know what permanent damage has been done.

Got a bit scared of trying again after the ectopic so we left it a little while.
Have just undergone IUI treatment instead. Our test date is 10th August. Not holding out too much hope as I know the chances of success with IUI are less. Also, from what I understand the aim is to have 3 or 4 follicles maturing for IUI. I only had the one follicle so I suppose this lessens the chances even more.

But, as they say, you never know so keeping everything crossed and trying not to get our hopes up too much.

Good luck to all you other August testers.

Welcome to the boards Barny. You will soon become addicted ...!

I'm afraid I don't really know anything about IUI - but I do know that you only need one follicle, with one egg, for a BFP :D

You'll have seen the August CB thread - don't be shy .. join in over there. Paige and Janine are also on the 2ww at the moment, and (if you ask her nicely  ) I'm sure Alicia will add you to the August Testers thread.

Take care

Barny,
Welcome to the board. I have only just joined the board after lurking for quite some time. Everyone is just lovely. These women are the best group of ladies, and you will surely find plenty of support. I am on the 2ww. I test on August 9th just one day before you. I am going mad. I only transfered one embie, but I am completely hopeful. Again welcome!

Sandra & Mia - thanks for the welcome.

Sandra - best of luck for the egg collection tomorrow. Hope you get a good number. I'll be watching the board to see how you got on.

Mia - know how you feel on the 2WW. I'm going a bit mad too. Over the half way mark now though. Hang in there and try to stop buying those HPTs! Fortunately I've none in the house so won't be tempted.

Take care,
Barny

Barny -- Welcome to the board. I'm new also. I've been stalking too. I'm more of an outsider trying to collect information for my friend who is ttc w/ivf. Although I'm not going through what you ladies are... I'm very sympathetic. It breaks my heart . I'm a journalist and my friend assigned me to be her official ivf researcher. I've told her about this board and I hope she will join. Right now she's 2ww. She had 2 embryos transfered on the July 31st and is too overwhelmed with her own emotions. My friends name is Shari -- so if you don't mind say a prayer, cross your fingers and send her some good vibes. We find out on August 13th if it worked.
