Well I hope you have a wonderful weekend I am sure you will, thanks for the tips I do try but when he cries it gets to me so off I trot into his room and sort him out. I have shattered today because he went to sleep and was back away at 00:25 and then he wanted to play and I kept saying it is night time but he wouldn't have any of it, he was so restless, eventually he did go back to sleep think it was about 04:00 when I had to love him to sleep. I will certainly try it again tonight if he cries and leave him for a bit and see if that makes any difference.
He's asleep now, typical when I can't get any sleep in the day!! lol.
Anyway I best let you carry on with some work, take good care and look forward to your posts on Monday. Kiss for Jay.

I think you're right - you're goingto have to be really hard, andit's going to be really upsetting short term but I do think it would be a good idea to leave Alex for a bit. I've read that you can leave for a couple of mins, then go in and soothe (don't pick up or talk) and leave the room again. Then the second time leave it a couple of minutes more and so on. I've read it takes 3 - 4 days to crack., but it will hopefully make him realised that if he does wake he'll have to go back to sleep. Does Alex like a dummy that you can give him to self-soothe with?

Well I know you won't read this post till Monday, He's only just gone to bed at 21:00 and already awake at 21:40 I let him cry a bit and he kept on when I went in he was lying funny in his cot so I have put him comfortable and he's quiet again now. I never wanted Alex to have a dummy to be honest but he wouldn't be without it now. When he cries I do try to give him a dummy but he still cries. Well give it my best shot over the weekend and see how it goes and will let you know. Was well pleased today because Alex had some home cooking he had potato, cabbage, carrots, and gravy and he eat it all. He also had a full mashed up banana and a jelly and eat that. I may go and get him weighed Wednesday to see how he is doing.

LOL - I can't believe how much all these babies eat!!!!!! LOL
Sam tries to gag every time he gets anything lumpy - I think he's just a lazy so and so. As for finger food......
I suppose we'll get there eventually - it's not doing him any harm and you'd NEVER believe he was so early looking at him. LOL

Hi Shell - unfortunately had a totally 
weekend - Jay had a really high temperature all weekend - ranged from 38 to 39 which is 103F I think. He seemed OK in himself, eating and drinking OK, but kept getting really hot and tetchy. We were so worried we took him to the out of hours on Sat morning and they gave him some antibiotics for an ear and eye infection. Then because DH and I were so worried about him we kept arguing and snappping at each other so a totally crap w/e all in all.
Jay's a bit better now, and went in nursery all smiles yesterday morning with a normal temp, but got sent home at 3pm with a temp of 39. Then he was fine last night.
I sopke to the Health Visitor who said that if his temperature is going up and down, he's fine in himself and eating/drinking OK then it's more than likely his teeth. He hasnt got one yet but is dribbliing a lot and has red cheeks so I think she's right.
How was your w/e? How is Alex's sleep? Just thinking - whenever Jay wakes at night and seems more playful than he should be - I keep the room dark, avoid eye contact, put his dummy in and stroke his head and quietly tell him several times to go back to sleep. Also, this is very daft but before he goes to sleep I tell him that if he wakes in the night and it's dark, to go straight back to sleep because mummy, daddy and the cat are all asleep too!. Sometimes he gets stuck on his front or at an odd angle in the cot so I just put him straight then tell him to go back to sleep.
Hope things are working out a bit more but it sounds as if Alex has got into the habit of waking at midnight for a play!
Zoe - please don't talk to me about lumps. Or finger food. What a nightmare. Jay gags and often vomits a bit when he encounters a lump. I've found the only thing that works is to give him small lumps and feed small mouthfuls. I read that at 9 months he shouldbe on chopped food but no chance! It's just so horrid when they choke isn't it!
Must dash - forgot I'm due at the dentists in 40 minutes - eeek!

Back from the dentists - no fillings! Hurray!
Zoe - my health visitor gave me a good tip - babies can choke/gag on things like breadsticks so try Morning Coffee biscuits as they go really soggy very quickly. Jay's managing well with those, and buttered toast but if he shoves too much in he gags. Then looks at me like it's my fault!
Girls - any tips please for lumps/ finger foods and gagging!

Thanks Sally - I'm LOL though - breadsticks - not even dared to go there!!!! LOL - I'm talking about lumps in 'from 7 month' baby jars !!!! Thank goodness Sam's not the only one - I'm with you, no chance on chopped food yet! Resigned and bought a hand blender in Asda - I've decided it's not worth the fight when he's grouchy...He loves dairylea triangles, but I'm no longer giving them as apparently they're very high in sodium content - bummer.
Well girls, Sam had his first night of broken sleep last night (I know I shouldn't complain) since he's been sleeping all night. Poor wee beggar, I think it was his teeth. He proudly shows off his ONE bottom tooth when grinning like an idiot - but I've dared to look in the mouth tonight and the two top ones are about to break through - oucha. Rotten luck, I had a parents night tonight, so I'm really knackered now...
