30 follicles!

Post by Claire »

Hello,

I'm feeling a bit anxious today, and very tired.
I had a day seven scan today and there are 30 follicles, 15 on each ovary.
That's good but my hormone levels are rising too high too quickly so they want me back tomorrow for another scan.
I'm just praying they'll settle down a bit before EC, which could be monday.
I'm not sleeping very well either which isn't helping. The mammouth journey through the thick of the traffic everyday means being on the road for 5.45am, so I'm not sleeping properly because I'm worrying about getting up in time
My tummy feels like a rugby ball and is very bruised!! :(
Never mind, sorry for whinging, just feel that way out today.
I've felt fine until now, not getting enough sleep is not good for me, I'm one of those people who needs their full 8 hours - I'm a zombie otherwise
Hope everyone else is feeling okay today, we're certainly pushed through the mill with all this.
take care,
love claire x

Hi Claire - my last IVF cycle ended up with me being admitted to hospital due to contracting OHSS but before I was diagnosed I had the same syptoms as you as in lots and lots of follicles and tummy felt bruised.
The medical staff at the hospital told me to drink lots of milk and eat lots of protein to try prevent any problems?? I think the follicles sap the protein from your body but don't quote me on that!
I ended up in hospital on a drip to replace the protein but I am sure this wont happen to you!!

You could try drinking milk though - It cant do you any harm!!

Good Luck and let me know how you get on tomorrow!

Hi Claire

I had the same experience last May are you at St Mary's?

They thought they might have had to cancel my collection but they let me coast for a few days with no injections and managed to still go ahead with the collection. They then froze all 7 fertilised embryos so all was not lost. I then had to wait for about 3 months to have one put back which at the time felt like the end of the world!! But after a good hol with my hubby it flew by.

Try and stay positive I know the hospital will try and do the collection if its safe for you.

Take care

Hi girls,

Thank you very much for your replies.
Feeling increasingly uncomfortable, there are now 36 follies - I certainly don't do things by halves! :?
The hormone levels have increased again today, but the nurse said they hadn't risen as much as they'd expected which was a good sign.
They haven't lowered the dose yet, but the doctor said he was still concerned I might go too high for ET or at the worst case not even EC
But, I'm remaining optimistic and if that does happen well there's not a lot I can do about it. I certainly don't want to develop OHSS.
My level was 8454 if that makes sense and it's day seven.
They will allow me to go to 17,000 at EC but they won't proceed if it's higher than that.
I just feel so bloated, it's as if my tummy doesn't belong to me :? .
Oh well never mind, I'm not the first to feel like this and I'm sure I won't be the last.

love claire x
PS - Gaynor thanks for the advice, I love milk and cheese so I'm having lots!

Hi everyone hope you are all ok.

Just thought I would update you all.

I had my ec yesterday, it went ok. I am quite uncomfortable today though. I got 18 eggs and today have had to make the very nervous call of finding out whether any had fertilised.
12 had fertilised, but one was poor quality and as I am having a total freeze they suggested not freezing it. So we have 11.

I was very pleased with that and quite releaved that the treatment is aon hold for a short while. I have been feeling uncomfortable lately will lots of follicles and taken to my bed the last few days. So wil be glad to try to get back to normal for now.

How long can you feel rough for after ec, I am really bloated and feel very uncomfortable is that quite normal?

My thoughts are with you all.
Take care

Hi ... Just to say I really feel for you .. I may have told you this before (?), but I had terrible bloating and pain from day 5 of stims last time. By the time I got to ET I felt so rough, I really wouldn't have minded if they said it couldn't go ahead. Looking back now, maybe it would have been better if it hadn't. Oh, there's so many maybes ...

I hope your levels remain under the 17K, and you can hang in there until Monday :) I'll be thinking about you !!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies, I did read them when you posted them and they have helped me over the last couple of days.
I've just come back from st mary's, armed with the hcg injection, but I have to wait to see what the blood test says before any decision is made.
The levels were 12,380 yesterdayand I've been increasing by 4,000 every day.
So if that pattern continues today, then I should be okay for hcg tonight and EC on Tuesday.
If not they'll let me coast for a couple of days, like you did Sarah, and see if the levels drop sufficiently.
I feel mega bloated and a bit nauseas but I think that's down to not eating properly. DH made me a bacon butty and I managed to eat it before and enjoy it, so I feel a bit better now.
I had a scan and follies measured between 17 and 18 - which is just right! Some good news at least
Fingers crossed for the phone call at 1.30pm!

love claire x
