0030 - DF and I go to bed
0130 - Maya wakes. I go in, she shouts 'MORNING'. I give her some water, switch the light on and give her a book.
0230 - a loo visit, she's still awake but reading quietly
0315 - she's shouting again, she grins at me and says 'poo, poo, poo'. I change her nappy.
0430 - more shouting. Go into to see her minus her sleeping bag and socks (it was minus 17 this morning), laughing and holding onto the cot sides whilst jumping, shouting 'jump, jump, jump'
0515 - another loo visit, she's asleep now
0545 - she's awake again, give her a water biscuit to keep her happy
0600 - one of my neighbours struggles to clear the ice waking us up
0715 - I can't persuade Maya to wake up now....
I'm so bloody tired!
Not really complaining though, she was super cute on each visit!

I know exactly what you mean about them being so adorable though -I was off with Jay yesterday - at lunch time, he's really gone off fruit, so I decided to try him on some fruit tinned in its own juice as I thought he might prefer it. No chance - I put a few tinned strawberries on his highchair table, then he chose one - squidged it and examined it for ages, then rubbed both hands through his hair. I saw him, burst out laughing, so now everything he eats he rubs a bit in his hair to make me laugh! So adorably cute I just couldn't laugh along with him!

Hi Sally, yes here's hoping to a better night's sleep. I'm super ratty and tonight is DF's one weeknight off in 3 weeks, I think he'd prefer to not be here. I'm downregging so mood swings are today's treat, have PMS and am super tired - a terrible combination.
Jay and the strawberries made me lol! I know what you mean about the hair thing. We taught Maya to put a little shampoo on her hair in the bath. She still does it but also with anything else by the end of dinner tonight there was sour cream, pesto, a shrimp, a piece of penne, kiwi fruit seeds and prune yoghurt....ew!
Will Jay eat kiwi fruit? we've found them to be the biggest consistent winner. She can now scoop the flesh out with a spoon if we loosen it a bit first but has always wolfed them down, along with very ripe pears which she forces in with both fists!
Gotta love 'em!

Alice sleeps really well for quite a few weeks and then we have one of "those" nights which by co-incidence was last night!! She woke at 3:00am really crying and after attempting to sooth her and get her back to sleep (she's 11 months), we went downstairs. I sat her on the floor to switch the fire on and she immediately smiled, grabbed the remote control for the TV (one of her favourites!) and kicked her legs with glee!!
We played for a short while, I gave her a warm drink of milk and then we went back to bed (our bed, not her cot - think this was probably part of her plan all along!!) She soon snuggled down, lying horizontally across the bed, and drifted off to sleep.
It is so physically tiring at times - you just get so desperate to lie down and rest but ......... hey, the rewards so outstrip the hard bits dont they?

thanks......but she woke last night at 0100....we both tried and tried to settle her but at 0300 she was still roaring away - we live in a flat over another small baby so I'm always loathe to let her cry for too long.
At 0300 DF brought her into our bed, she lay down between us and acted like she'd sleep, she's not slept in our bed for 18m. After 10mins I heard a very quiet noise and found she'd been sick all over herself and the bed. In near total silence! After we changed everything, she fell back to sleep in her cot and all looked good.
At 0700 I woke her and she was immediately sick all over her own bed (+ just changed pjs, toys etc).
I went to work and DF had to take her to a house sale meeting. She threw up all over him in the meeting, luckily the other guy also has a toddler daughter and understood.
Lastly, a water pipe cracked outside our block this morning and we've had no water since mid-morning. No washing of all the piles of stinky laundry.....oh joy!
As if it couldn't get any worse, my broadband provider has just quoted 3-6 to move our subsription to our new house. I work from home so now feel sick at the prospect of no internet/email. I offered to pay the 500 quid (yep) express connection charge but was told that was only for new subscribers not existing. I'm about to do battle...very tricky when I don't speak the language well enough.
Feeling very sorry for myself.

Its just the worse thing when you want your little one to go to sleep and he/she won't. Alex spends majority of his nights in bed with us. Its one thing to have a good nites sleep. People say I am making a rod for my own back but I can't be a zombie all my life.
I hope things improve.

Hi Debra, I have not been on for ages but I was so impressed by your heroic handling of Maya during her entertainment night I had to write a few lines. I know from the other posts of yours you follow the routine (god bless Gina Ford and those who told me about her, I think it was Tracey). We also do the routine with Alex and nadia and it helped us to no end to sleep through. I find it scary to hear that even with the routine Maya spends some nights awake, isn't there anything in the Ford books that can help with that?
Hope you are better in the meantime, with sleep and the broken pipes and the cold...
