Worried at 6 week scan.

Post by jordan »

I had a positive result 2 weeks ago with my 2nd IVF. No real pregnancy symptoms as yet but I went for the 6 week scan today. They said my left ovary was still very enlarged and that it was pushing against my uterus and squashing it. The nurse said it was perhaps not giving her a claer picture although she could see two sacs. They were both smaller than they should be (one in particular) and that the test was inconclusive. I have to wait another week to see if there is any development. I haven't had any spotting/bleeding at all and the pain I had initally has worn off - probably due to my ovary. Is there any hope or should I prepare for the worst ? Nurse said she couldn't definatley see anything in the sac but could this be due to my squashed uterus ?
Jordan.

Hello Jordan

Sorry, I can't offer any advise to you. Just wanted to say good luck with your next scan and I hope it is all ok - I think the nurse would have told you if you were to expect the worst, so don't give up hope.

Sarah x

Jordan

I hope you don't mind me popping over from the Pg After Treatment board, but I just wanted to tell you about my 6 wk scan. All I could see was a heartbeat - a little flicker in a bit of fuzz you could hardly have seen it. I was told at the hospital that they sometimes don't see anything at 6 wks. I also had a very swollen ovary - they thought it was a large cyst. I had a few cysts during my IVF (had to have an aspiration during the cycle) but this was enormous compared to the others.

Anyway, after a lot of stress, the pregnancy has gone ok in the end. At the 8 wk scan we could see a little baby with arms & legs. The cyst had gone by the 12 wk scan (although I sufferred a lot of pain in the couple of wks before then that I think might have been related).

I hope everything is ok with your pregnancy - I am sure for the moment you should not give up hope.

Love
Dee x.
