HELP LOW HCG

Post by princess »

I went in today to have blood work done and my HCG was only 467.
Last Sat the 28th when I got the BFP it was 166 . It doesn't seem to have gone up very much. I am very scared.
Love
Joy

Hello Joy

If you look on the beta nos website (address is given on 1st trimester thread) it says that your HCG\beta should go up every 2 dys by at least 66% which yours has. When I first had mine done, it was 52 on day 13 and 81 on day 15. This I think was approx 60%, that was 3 wks ago and last week I had a scan showing a heartbeat. I became obscessed by the beta\hcg levels because mine didnt conform to the norm.
Also, if you find posts on jenf, she had a very scary time with HCG levels at the begining and she is due to have her baby soon I think! Her posts really helped me.
Take care of yourself and please dont worry too much.
Love Kim.

Joy

Sorry, after checking that website I couldnt find where it mentioned at least 66%. This figure has been mentioned before by other people on this board and if you check out www.earlypregnancy.org.uk/guidelines.asp (I could only get into this website by typing hcg 66% on search engine and its under cardiff & vale NHS trust) it does mention it here. (This is also a useful website for facts and figures on scans). It also mentions that 15% of normal pregnancies will have abnormal doubling times! When I was worrying about my HCG levels, I really wished at that point my clinic had done HPT and I would have been none the wiser and enjoyed the early days more. I couldnt relax until my scan because of these HCG numbers not being 'normal' yet my instincts told me everything was ok at the time.
Take care Love Kim.

Hi Joy

Kim is right...........I had a nightmare.........my levels were 240 and they only went up 80 within 2 days and the same again within the next 2. After 4 days they told me it was over and not a viable pregnancy and to stop all meds. The following Tuesday I had to get the hcg checked to make sure it was falling and instead it had gone up loads to over 800!

I did have IVIG the day after the first one for NK cells and don't know if this had any effect??

There are always the predictable hcgs which most people get......and a few unpredicable........as with everything in this game.......I think the whole HCG thing is a bit of a grey area even for the drs..........there are some people that deliver health babies who start off with HCGs around 10!

Hold tight Joy and just pray for the best possilbe outcome........my heart goes out to you as I still live that senario over every day.......my 3rd trimester buddies will tell you what a panicing, neurotic wreck I have been ever since!

The website is www.betabase.info

Good luck hun and keep us informed.........fingers are crossed and be warned.....you will never stop panicing.......I am 36 weeks on Monday and still knicker checking!!

Hugs

Hi

Thanks Jen, I was hoping you didnt mind me using your experience, it certainly helped me with my HCG worries. Hope everything goes well for you, not long now!

Joy, hope you are doing ok. Thinking of you-I know what its like to be going through this, but your levels are still classed as 'normal' so im sure it will be fine.
