Dolly - am on to FSH!

Post by Becky28 »

Hi Dolly,
Had the scan this a.m, and - hurrah! - did the first FSH jab there and then. Much confusion for a while as the doctor who did the scan didn't speak much English and seemed worried by the amount of follicles on my ovaries and thickness of the lining . . . so I had a good old stress about having to take norethisterone and start all over again . . . but then the nurse said it was fine, and what they'd expect to see with someone with PCOS (i.e. me!)
Now got a day 6 scan on Mon 14th, and a day 10 on Fri 18th - egg collection should be early in wk beginning Mon 21st July. Phew! Lots and lots of luck for Thurs, Beck x

Hi Beck, Excellent news! I bet it was stressful! But you are on to the next stage and that is all that matters. I think the next couple of weeks will fly by because you will be backwards and forwards to the hospital.

Roll on Thursday - the sniffing is beginning to give me real headaches. But, I think I remember the nurse saying that I have to continue sniffing (but only once a day) even when I start stims. Do you still have to take Buserelin?

I'll let you know how I get on on Thursday.

Love
Dolly

Hi Dolly,
I know exactly how you feel - I've had a stinker of a headache for the last few days; rotten isn't it. I do have to carry on with the Buserelin injections, but the nurse said the FSH should cancel out the side effects, so with luck you've only got a few days of it left -hang on in there!
Are you feeling okay aout injecting? I do it into the roll of flab on my tummy, and it honestly doesn't hurt, and is just mind over matter the first time. Had to laugh this a.m. when the nurse got a WHOPPING great needle out - Rob said my face was a picture. Thankfully it turned out to be the 'mixing' needle, and the one that goes in is still super-fine. Phew again!!!!
Take it easy and 'talk' to you Thurs, Beck x

I've done injections before - I had 3 IUIs last year - but I have to admit I didn't get on too well with the injections. My husband, Kevin, has to give them to me - I tried once or twice to do it myself - but couldn't. I have an autoinjector and I am so glad of it because I know there is no way I could without it. We did them in my legs - but I think we might try and do it in my tummy as well... just to add a bit of variety!!!

When I was doing my last IUI - I was sat in the living room one evening with all the drugs and syringes, mixing and then tapping the syringe.. and I realised that if anyone saw me (we have flats opposite) they must think I am a right junkie! Must remember to draw the curtains this time!

Do you find that everywhere you look at the moment you see things about IVF/ICSI. It seems there is at least one article in the papers every day (and loads of programmes on the TV). Maybe there has always been a lot in the press - but I am only noticing it now!

Don't work too hard ..

Dolly
