Gray - welcome to the board and congratulations on your triplets!!! I'm also pregnant with triplets and had (and continue to have) the same exact emotions and feelings you describe. Between transferring 3 embryos and U/S we also did a lot of joking about triplets - but then it became much less 'funny' when it came to be true. We are extremely excited and feel very blessed but we are also overwhelmed with all that needs to be done to prepare for them and what lies ahead of us with trying to adjust to 3 new babies at once (this is also our first pregnancy)! Although they do give you lots of warnings about it being a high risk pregnancy - try not to let it stress you out too much. I'm almost 20 weeks along and so far everything has gone fairly smoothly and all 4 of us are growing just fine! I did have a little spotting early on - which they said was normal b/c your uterus has to stretch so much, but besides those few minor spotting episodes, we really haven't had any complications yet. That could all change very quickly but I think it is better to try to stay calm and optimistic and not let all of the "high risk" stuff worry you too much!

We - glad to hear you had a nice vacation! I would love one of those right about now :) Sorry to hear you are on bedrest again - has the bleeding stopped for a few days yet? I hope you are doing better and able to resume semi-normal activity soon :) I also looked at the mini-cribs a little when trying to decide what to get. I was a little nervous that our kids would outgrow the length of them as cribs/toddler beds long before we would be ready to put them into a twin bed. My husband was a big baby (~13 lbs when he was born) and has been taller than average his whole life - I think he is ~6'4" now. Maybe if you are expecting smaller/shorter babies, the mini crib would work ok for you. We ended up getting Ikea cribs - the Sundvik style. They were more compact than most cribs we saw in other stores but still full size crib mattresses and later you can remove the one size to make it like a toddler bed/day bed - so we expect we will be able to use these for a few years at least. Initially we will probably put all 3 in one so they are close, but by a few months I expect they will each be in their own crib.

fvrogers - I plan to keep working until they put me on bedrest. I'd love a little extra time at the end to do final prep for the babies but ultimately I would rather use any of my vacation time for after the babies are born.

JenMink - how are you doing? That is awesome that you get 90% of your pay during maternity leave and tax free! Is there a limit for how long you can be out on maternity?

Tuffy4u - we are starting to look for a nanny - I think with 3 it is going to be a necessity. I'm just hoping we can find someone who will fit well with our family and schedule.

DragonDad - congrats on your boy and girl - it is exciting to have a mix when you are having multiples! Thanks for the info on the Chinese animal year - not sure if I'm ready for 3 dragons! My induction date will be right around yours - if I make it that far...

Moorebaby - I'm glad to hear it sounds like you are doing well! April 5th is just a little over a week a way - you are almost there! Very exciting that you bought a house!! When do you plan to close and move? Will be a very busy, eventful and special spring for your family! They said if all goes well they will let me get to 37 weeks - I would be thrilled if we made it that far but am personally hoping to get to 35 weeks. The 32-33 weeks that they say is normal for triplets scares me a bit - I would prefer they don't have to be in the NICU for too long.

AFM - Everything has been going well but we are all getting SO big so quickly! Up until about 3 weeks ago I felt like I could still disguise my pregnancy if I wanted to - these days I don't think that would be possible at all! I've still only gained ~10 pounds and I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow. Do you think that is ok or should I be trying to squeeze in some more mini-meals? I already feel like I am eating constantly! Last appointment all 3 babies were still at or above the typical size for how far along they are. When I go next week, I am going to ask the dr about my weight gain to see if they are at all concerned. We've been driving the minivan for a week now - I am still adjusting but do love it! We got a used 2012 Toyota Sienna with leather seats so we plan on driving it for a LONG time! Worked out perfectly that someone had just traded it in after only driving it for a month or two so there was only 2500 miles on it - no accidents, or anything - they just changed their mind. We are happy with it so far - and glad to have one more thing checked off our to do lists! I've been working on my registries - my first shower is in a few weeks - can't believe how fast this is all happening! We did pick a color for our nursery so we've been working to empty that room and my husband starts painting it this weekend. Before we know it, we will be filling it up!!!

Hi everyone!!! I know I haven't posted in FOREVER but I do stalk all the time. We are having our newest little love next Wednesday (scheduled c-section), and I am ready! I am very curious about how it's going to be with a newborn and my daughter who will be 2 on Friday though! Being an only child, I have NO frame of reference for this whole sibling thing. I am still at work and will work up until Monday (I go all the way to the end lol), and I am tired but feeling pretty okay. Glad to see all you ladies doing well and moving right along with your miracles. Welcome to the newbies!!! :D

Maria - we went with two low profile convertible cribs (I'm only 5'). I think we may put them both in one crib for a bit before separating them out into their separate cribs though.

KBilsy - glad everything is going good so far!

Gray - congrats on the triplets and welcome to the group! I'm only pregnant with twins but can relate to the anxiety of having multiple babies to take care of. Its kind of funny because the 1st trimester I was totally stressed about miscarriage and the 2nd trimester totally stressed about preterm labor. Now that I am in the 3rd trimester its really starting to settle in that there will be two babies to take care of at once! So a bit of a delayed reaction on my part :)

AFM - Had my U/S at 27 weeks 2 days today. Baby A was 2lb 6 oz and Baby B was 2 lb 8 oz. Doctor said that was a little above average and was very pleased. Yay!

Thanks everyone for all the welcomes! I teared up reading the responses .I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Wehavehope:  thank you. It helps to know everyone has a certain amount of anxiety along with the joy of this whole experience. I definitely think this forum is going to be priceless for me. Its nice to talk with other who are going thru this especially with ivf. That's great about your two, now five to be! But yes, that would be a big surprise too! Congrats.

kilbilsy: hi so glad to meet another triplet mom. I'm 35 so we are around the same age and my beta numbers were close to yours too! Thanks for the advice and positive perspective. It's only  been three days ! since we found out and we haven't really been able to celebrate. You are so excited they are ok on the u/s this week and then you feel sad because there all this stuff out there saying theres such a high risk they won't be ok. I did buy dr Luke's book and they said to set a goal of gain 24 pounds by 24weeks with high protein diet if you were normal weight before pregnancy since triplets stop gaining weight sooner than singletons in later preg and higher weight gain earlier in pregnancy seems to result in less preg complications and greater birth weight. Another recc i got was for 50 lbs for total pregnancy. I dont know how realistic that is but it sounds like something to talk to your doctor about. I am really happy to hear that your pregnancy has been so uneventful , that all of this is possible ! and  I 'm crossing my fingers praying for the same. Thank you!

Bodie: thanks! I think that is exactly how I'll be too! Congrats on your babies I

So far I have emailed the two high risk obs in my town and a perinatologist. Getting prompt responses so thats good. Thankfully still have a few weeks left with my RE. Next u/s on Monday.
Thanks again everyone!

Thanks for the input ladies, it is greatly appreciated. I am leaning towards 2 weeks off because we will be doing a lot of stuff last minute when DH gets back from Kuwait. He gets back May 31st, so the crib and larger stuff will not be put together until then. Plus we will be doing our childbirth classes June 2nd - I know that is cutting it close, but it was the best we could do. Anyways, with me taking off a year from work I figured it wouldn't make too much of a difference. We are at 30 weeks and counting!! Baby showers are coming up and I am starting to get a little excited/nervous :?

Gray - Welcome to our little gang! Congrats on the blessings, I know you will find great support here. We have had a few triplet mommas come through. Here is praying that you have a smooth pregnancy.

We - Glad to hear the bleeding has stopped. Good luck with your ultrasound, I hope you find out the genders.

JenMink - How long do you get to use your disability insurance? Mine will only cover me for 8-10 weeks which is why I am trying to decide when to start my leave. How have you been feeling?

Sending hugs to everyone else.

Hi Fvrogers!

Well, in CA you get 4 weeks paid before and 6 weeks after for vaginal/8 weeks for C-section. In addition you can take I believe another 12 weeks after the 6 or 8 but it's only 55% of your income which is a little tight for us. I am not 100% sure what I am going to do at this point. I think once Landon is born I will probably want to take the cut in pay regardless of how much we have to cut back. Congrats on 30 weeks!! How exciting to be on the countdown my friend.

Hooray for team pink Maria! Your twins will be able to share clothes. Oh, and SOOOO happy you're down to just spotting! I have my 16 week appointment a week from tomorrow, but my doc doesn't do the anatomy scan until 20 weeks so we may not be able to find out gender until then. There's a chance we might, though, if she has to do an ultrasound to check heartbeats. I haven't had them able to distinguish them yet using a doppler. Have you?

Oh, and regarding cribs. Everything I've read says that they can share a full-sized crib until they can move around, ~3 months. Not sure about the mini cribs. They used those at DDs day care and they seemed fairly small so I think you'd probably want to start with 2 if you go with minis. We already have 1 full sized crib from DD so we'll start them both in that and likely just get another full sized as well. The room we'll have them in is big enough to accomodate 2 full-sized. I am debating on purchasing a twin bassinet though.

Bodie, you are getting so close! How are you feeling moving into your 3rd tri?

Gray, welcome! I guess the good thing for you is having no kids to start with, you won't know if it's any harder than raising a singleton. Having DD who was a very good baby (though she is a hellraising preschooler now), I'm nervous about the difference between one and 2.

kbillsy - it all depends on your starting weight, I think. If you started out very thin then yes, I'd be concerned and think your doc would be too. I'm at 15 weeks with my twins and have already put on about 18 pounds!

AFM, I have been battling a killer cold for a week and a half. I've had to cut my dairy way back which I know is not ideal for the babies, but the amount of mucus would be intolerable otherwise. Knock on wood, it seems to be breaking today. Babies seem to be fine. I've felt a little bit of movement already. It's interesting because it feels different than singleton movement. With DD the first things I felt were like flutters. WIth these two it's more like they are shifting to get out of each others' way. Has anyone else noticed this? It seems very early but then I felt DDs flutters at 15 weeks and they say that you feel twin movement earlier.

Thank you so much friends. It's sure been an amazing day. So we were told that we are having two girls but I know that it's never 100% sure until the babies are born but the u/s technician was pretty certain. Tge doctor that looked at all the films said that everything was normal but that duet the babies position they were unable get a real good view of both their hearts. They were able to view the four chambers an all wad normal but they like to typically get additional views. So they are recommending another u/s in two weeks. DH is so happy and so are the kids and the rest of the family. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you all for your love and support.
