Jules g - thanks for the good wishes, how are you? If you get chance send me a message to let me know how things are going, as i quite often forget to check all the boards.


Jessica sleeps occassionally through the night but it is still very much hit and miss. The health visitor is now concerned about her weight as she is not following the centiles, she is putting on weight but not as quick as they would like. so she now has to be weighed weekly. She is now 10lb 13oz, anyone remember what their child weighed on this week or even week 12, she was nearly 8lb when born? It is so weird because i keep thinking people have to give birth to babies her weight and she seems massive to me. They have also just found out she has a clicky hip. so will have to wear either double nappies Or a harness, just waiting to see the doctor at Alder Hey.

She does seem to smile a lot also, hopefully she will stay that way!!!

Hoping Hendricks is feeling much better now, Julie.

Kristi - losing 42lbs in 3 weeks, that is amazing!!!

I actually lost at least 1 stone, plus all the baby weight because i was stuck in hospital, so i suppose it had its benefits!!! I think i need to go back in as my weight is going back up (too lazy to cook ).

Hi all!

Sue - great to hear from you. Worrying about baby getting enough food seems to be one of the most common things to worry about. As long as she is putting on weight steadily I'd be happy. Some just put in on at a slow and steady pace rather than all at once. I think Charlie was around the 9-10lb mark at 12 weeks. Some weeks he put on a lot (8oz!) and some hardly at all (2oz). We've decided to just get him weighed every few weeks now.

I cant believe how many of us have our little ones, and how quickly it's all going. Most of them are over 3 months old - OMG!!!!!

Charlie has had a cold, poor thing. Done the usual - in the bathroom, raised the mattress a bit, saline drops, suction bulb but it seems to make no major difference. Did take him to docs to check out his chest and lungs which were fine. Said there wasnt a lot more we could do other than what we're doing already. I just feel sorry for him when he finds it hard to breathe - bless!

RE: weight - please be careful. Especially those of you still breastfeeding. I lost all my pregnancy weight pretty much straight away, but without realising it I soon lost too much. Before I knew it I was almost a stone under pre-pregnancy and people were starting to comment. Anyhow I realised I wasnt eating enough - I forgot you needed 500 extra calories to compensate for feeding. So, just wanted to say be cearful and make sure you dont go too mad. Slow and steady!!! Am now really careful to make sure I eat - even if it means I don't get a shower!!! (sometimes there's not time for both!!). I feel much better for it - not so tired etc.

Hello everyone, glad to see all is doing well. Colin is now 3 months and one week old. Wow how time goes by so fast. He is know 15lbs ( a little chuncker) he is eating 7oz's every 2 hours. I still (knock on wood) don't have to us mylacon too much. Probably 2-3 times a week. About a month and half ago he goes to sleep around 9:00/9:30 and does not wake up until around 8:00am. I do feel so lucky. The only problem I am having is that the back of his head is flat. I try to lay him on his side but he ends up on his back. I was told to rub his head in a circlular motion, so I will try to do that. I posted some pics on the photebucket a while back will post more soon. It is so awesome to see all of you and your little miracles. I stiil look at Colin and can't believe all of this has happened to me. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I also got good new a few weeks ago. I am able to work from home and got a raise. I just have to go in for a few hours once a week so I will be spending all my time with Colin. Again glad to see everyone doing so well.

Hi All-

Madiva, how lucky that you can work from home, and got a raise too I'm jealous of Colin's sleeping habits. Although, Hendricks's is pretty good. Goes to bed at 8, up at 3, back to bed til 7.

Hendricks has a bad cold too. He's had the sniffles for about 3 weeks, but then everything turned green and he started coughing horribly. Doc gave us a Rx for amoxicillin and told us to use it if he wasn't improved in 3 days or was getting worse. So started that Friday night and Saturday night he had an allergic reaction. He went from perfectly happy to hysterical in about 2 minutes time. The hysterics lasted about 10 minutes and when he finally stopped crying he was covered in red hives. LUCKILY, we just happened to be at the hospital visiting friends so we went straight to the ER. He continued to cry for about 30 minutes until they gave him benadryl. I was sooo freaked out worrying that his airway was going to swell shut. It was so stressful too, not being able to console him. I can't imagine how parents with colic survive!

Hi everyone...

I hope the little ones with colds get better soon. I dread the day Lucy gets a cold. EYCI - I am like you...I don't know how it must be to have a crying baby you can't console.

Lucy is totally bottle fed now. It seems from her 2nd month birthday to the day, she stopped taking the breast at all. She screamed and wouldn't even latch on. So bottle feeding it is. I am quite emotional about it because I wanted to b/f her so much, and I really did enjoy it. But I have to try to get over it, cos she just doesn't like it so much.

Lucy has to get her immunisation needles on Thursday, and I'm so worried. I hate the idea of holding her while someone hurts her.... And then theres the worries that she might react to them, get fever etc. Oh well, wish me luck!

Madiva - what a sleeper! Lucy is pretty much the same as Hendricks, but I keep wishing she would go longer. The other night she did sleep from 8.30pm - 7.30am, but she doesn't do that all the time. She seems to always want to go to be early, which doesn't help me!!!

Sue - I can't help with the weight front, as Lucy was a big baby. she was 9lb at birth, so is tracking along a higher centile than Jess. I hope it all goes well. Re her hip - the nurse was also a little concerned about Lucy's hip. I have to get the Dr to have a look at it on Thursday. What does the double nappies do?

I also lost weight very quickly, but I think it had a lot to do with the stress of looking after Lulu in those first couple of weeks, and forgetting to eat. As well as lack of sleep. Anyway, it wasn't good for me, so I agree - everyone needs to be careful. This may have affected my breastfeeding early on, which caused all the problems later. Anyway, I still have a little jelly belly that I have to get rid of.

Hope everyone else is good - great to read the posts and catch up on how everyone's bub is doing. We are all approaching the 12 month mark from our cycle....how crazy how life has changed!

Just in case I talk about Charlie's weight again, and you think I went mad I thought I'd better let you know I miscalculated his last weigh-in!! I weighed him today and he's lost 2lb! I dont think so!!!!!!! So for those of you keeping track of weight, 2 weeks ago he was 11lb 2 NOT 13lb 11!!!! and today he's 11lb 11!!!!!!
The annoying thing is the weigh-in scales are in kg and I can only work in lb oz!! I read the conversion chart wrong! Should have seen the health visitors face today when I wailed "OMG He's lost 2lb!!" They panicked!!! But I grabbed his red medical book and realised what I'd done. Serves me right for writing in my own conversions cause I cant be bothered to wait for one of the health visitors to do it at clinic!!!!

So - at 15 and a half weeks he's 11lb 11. He-He!!!!

Posted a piccie on photo bucket. Wow - there are so many new pics since I last looked. I only had a chance to have a quick peek - Bella - I love that piccie - SO CUTE!!!!!!

Does anyone else miss the luxury of reading with intensity the posts on here and thinking about what they're gonna write before they do? I find I have a few moments to scan the posts, and quickly write something. I then post it and realise it makes no sense, is ususally completely self-centered and any advise I do give is half-hearted. I'm so sorry! I really do miss it!!!

Right - talking of making no sense, now I've got to go. I have around 3mins before he wakes (yes, I swear he has an alarm clock in his cot!) and I have a chicken in the oven which is probably burnt!!!

Hi again,

Bella, the double nappies just restricts movement and so allows the joint time to mature, the legs end up stuck out in the ten-to-two position!!! It does look really funny when you see it.

Well i have just baked jessica's feet, well what i mean is I have done a clay cast of both feet. Daddy held her up in the air while i pushed each foot in the clay, actually turned out alright, will just have to get a photo to go in the other side of the frame.

Hi All - I have been browsing through everyone's updates and finally have a little time to post. All is well here. Isabella has been sleeping through the night since she was 7 weeks...the only issue is she is so active it takes a long time to get her down and relaxed to get to sleep. She is laughing and 'talking' up a storm. We have had bouts of very bad gas/colic(?) and need to give her herbal suppository at night and 'magic drops' to help alleviate the pressure. Isabella has rolled a couple of times - but nothing on a regular basis. I have posted a picture of Issy at 2 months.

Hey everyone! Seems like the common theme is being amazed at how old our babies are getting! Mine are 4 months now. Wow! They are changing like crazy. They are each around 12 lbs. They are sleeping 10 hours at night and get up once at 3am to eat. They have their 4 month physical & immunizations on Friday. They are watching TV now, which is hilarious. They "talk" and laugh. And they are starting to teethe...drooling & sucking on their hands.

Does anyone have experience with the amount of their breastmilk going down? I'm not producing quite as much as I was before. I used to be able to pump 5-6 ounces every 3 hours. Now I'm only getting 3-4 ounces each time. I've been doing extra pumping to help it increase after I breastfeed. And taking the herb Fenugreek. And eating oatmeal. Any other tricks?

Kristi - try a 'red light' (infrarot in german)...they are cheap lamps with a red lightbulb..the heat is supposed to help produce more milk and massage your breasts (or DH ) when you have the lamp on them. There is also special oil you can buy...these things worked for me when I was BFing...we are solely on bottle now.

Thanks for the tips, Tracii! All of a sudden my breast milk increased again. Doctor said my stress may have affected it last week. I just spent 5 days at my mom's and with all the help and nothing much else to do at her house I guess I unstressed!

I expected to have several posts to read after being gone for 5 days, but it must be everyone is busy! Gee, I wonder what everyone is busy doing? ha ha!!

Hi Ladies -

H had his 4 month check up yesterday. He's 16pounds 9ounces (90th%) and 26.5 inches (75%). I don't know where he gets in from, as DH and I are not from big sized families. Although now H and I have matching double chins (Yep, I'm still on that treadmill trying to lose mine)

So, how do you guys put your babes to bed? Still swaddled, or just a blanket over them, no blanket at all??? We've always used a SwaddleMe blanket with H, and he will be out growing it soon, but it seems that when I just put a blanket over him (during naps) he manages to pull it up over his head so I'm nervous about this. He's not rolling over yet, but still manages to move all over in his crib at night.

We got the go ahead from the doc yesterday to start solids! We will just try rice cereal for now, up to 2 bowls a day as he gets used to it. At 6 months will start to introduce veggies and fruits. We're going to try this out on Saturday and I can't wait to see how it goes.

Julie, I have some of the same things going on here. We had our 4 month check also. Tyler is 12 lbs 15 ozs and Brady is 12 lbs 3 ozs. Both are 23 inches. We got the go ahead to try solids also, but doc said I may want to wait a month since they were preemies. We're starting with rice cereal also, once a day for two weeks...then twice a day for two weeks...then veggies...then fruits. Sounds like fun, yet also sad because that really means they are getting older!

I was wondering the same about sleeping. I still put them in the swaddler wrap thing at night too. And blankets over them for naps. The swaddler is getting tight, but I'm afraid they won't sleep as good with just a blanket, plus they kick it off. And it's cold here.

I also am thinking I need to move them out of my bedroom (sleeping in a pack-n-play bassinet thing) and have them start sleeping in their cribs in their bedroom upstairs. Oh boy, that's a big step for me!

Oh, Brady got sick from the 4 month immunizations. He had a fever for over 24 hours and was VERY fussy. He cried non-stop. Luckily I was at my mom's and you can imagine how Grandma loved to take care of him.

Well, moving to cribs, unswaddling, eating solids.....how did we get this far already?

We used to swaddle Charlie in the early days but then he found his hands and got frustrated by the swaddle. We now use a "dreampod". Also known as a sleeping bag or "sleepod". It's great - there is no way it can go over the head and you "zip" him up in it. It keeps him warm but is safe. We used to just pop him in a sleep suit and then the sleep bag as everything said not tolet them get too warm. But as it's got colder, we've popped a light blanket over the top and at the moment this is working well. Not sure what the temperature is with you guys but you can generally get them in different togs - 0.5 (hot weather!), 1.5 (warm) and 2.5 (cold!!). You can get really cute designs!!!!!
Oh - but the transition didnt go soomthly. He took a while to get used to the sleeping bag but now he knows that it's bedtime when we put him in. I can't recommend them enough!
