2nd timer-
Much much congratulatiions !!!! Well, I found out my beta results... BFP !!!!! I adopted your "pregnant till proven otherwise" mantra, and I guess it worked for us both! Lots of luck, and enjoy! (I am in shock and disbelief.) My beta was 168. Do you know what that may indicate?
Good luck to all you ladies. Keep well, and PMA and blessings to all.

YEAH!!! Congratulations Sharishu!!! That's so WONDERFUL!!!
168 is a good strong beta. Most web sites say average on day 14 is 100. With much higher #'s multiples are suspected, but not always. Do you have to go back in a couple of days to recheck?
I haven't even got my beta yet, but I feel like a load of bricks has been lifted off my shoulders. I hope I'm not celebrating too soon.

Congratulations to both of you Shari and 2nd timer - that is great news. Keep us posted with your scan results and your pregnancies.
I spoke to my clinic and they have said to carry on with my pessaries until friday and test again. They don't do beta tests so it is just lots of HPTs for me. I have got a small amount of brown blood today so I guess that is the start of my AF. I am going to start again as soon as poss and probably not going to share my eggs this time as that may have made a difference. At least if I don't share my eggs I should end up with more embryos to freeze and then won't have to go through this whole process for a third time.
Thanks Ros, I do still hope you get a happy surprise on Friday.
If this works for me like I'm hoping it will, I think letting the eggs go to day 5 blastocyst is what made the difference. Is there anyway you could try that next time? I also highly recommend acupunture prior to the transfer.
Haven't heard from the clinic yet. I hope I'm not celebrating too soon.
Thanks for the advice 2nd timer - what is acupunture supposed to do? I have never had it before but my chiropractor clinic does do it so it is something that i could try. I will also speak to my Dr re the 5 day blastocyst transfer. Anything to give the next attempt more chance at success.
I have been thinking about any possible reasons that it could have gone wrong this time and the only things I can think of are:
- the transfer was not the easiest possible - apparently I have a curve in my uterus which meant that they have to have a 2nd attempt to put them in with a different instrument - the Dr said that they had gone in fine but I can't help wondering if that could have been the problem.
- also I had a massive cyst (6.5cm with 200ml of fluid) which they drained on ER day. Could this have been a problem?
I guess there doesn't really have to be a reason but I find it hard to believe if I did exactly the same again that it would work next time.
Congratulations Sharishu & 2nd timer!!! I'm so happy for that news!
I have to make my test on Monday Dec.10, but I just make a HPT right now and it was negative. I have been with pain in my back and pelvis since monday, I don't know what to think anymore.
But it's really nice to read your possitive stories and to know that you have passed succesfully what i'm experiencing right now. (sorry if my english isn't that good).
Well let's stay possitive! Sharishu and 2ndtimer God bless u always!
Tita- if your test day is Dec. 10, it is REALLY too early to test now.
2nd Timer- thanks for the beta info. I do go for another test on Friday. It's really early so I'm just trying to pace myself re: excitement, etc.
Ros- Hoping good things for you Friday. Based on what I read, it seems the beta number multiplies VERY rapidly, so logic tells me even one day could make a difference. Good luck!
All my best wishes for BFPs all around!

Ros-
To answer your acupuncture question: I called an acupuncturist (who came highly recommended) to schedule an appointment for after my ET. He suggested to rest up the day of ET (although I know many do it on the same day, before and after ET) and instead come 2 days later. I did, and so had one treatment 2 days after ET. He explained that at this stage, he is targeting points which strengthen the uterine lining to make a warm, thick environment for the embryos to latch on to and "nest" in for the next 9 months. So at different stages of pregnancy, depending on need, he'd focus on different things (to avoid early labor, etc.). I decided to try it after a friend (45 years old) got pregnant with IVF + acupuncture. She also told me that a number of her friends (her age) succeeded with IVF once trying acupuncture. It doesn't hurt, and it's relaxing. He also gave health tips (moderate exercise, get sleep, eat well, drink green tea). Hope this helps!

I still haven't heard from the MD office yet. It's driving me crazy!!! Sharishu, I know exactly what you mean about pacing yourself. It's just so early and plus, I'm still in shock from the +HPT. I don't want to go overboard and actually consider myself pregnant just yet. I think I'll feel much more secure after finding out my beta. And then finding out the beta on Friday!
Ros, many women have acupuncture 1-2 week before a cycle & during stims. It's supposed to help increase blood flow to the area. I only had it a couple of times during stims, then I found out I would at least have 20 follicles so they said I didn't need to come back until ET day. My MD just mostly wanted me to have it on ET day because it helps to relax the uterus & make it more receptive. I can tell you it really, really helps to relax you before the transfer. On my 1st three transfers I was so nervous that even though I had valium one hour before, my heart would be racing & I would almost be sick to my stomach. The last two transfers with the acupuncture, I could have slept through both.
Tita -you tested way, way too early. Put the HPT's away & don't think about doing that again until at least Saturday or Sunday.

2nd Timer and Ros-
Just to add to what 2nd Timer was saying, I do believe being more relaxed at ET is crucial. Last time, my bladder was SOOOO full, I was in pain, and that made it hard to go once I was able to! I was not relaxed at all, and did not have a good feeling. This time, it went much more smoothly. The more relaxed, the better, I say.
Also, during the acupuncture, I closed my eyes and visualized 2 embryos kind of 'breathing', attached to the uterine lining. I do this a few times a day now, with deep breathing, each time making the embies 'grow' just a little bit in my mind's eye. One thing this visualization does without a doubt is relax me and send me positive energy. Sometimes I also repeat a mantra, eyes closed, with deep breathing, such as "I will be pregnant for 9 months, and give birth to healthy babies." Just thought I would share these tidbits, which most certainly have been helpful for me.

Sharishu,
I picture a pink light emanating from my uterus & glowing with each breath. During the acupuncture I would try to imagine the pink light spreading throughout my body. I try to do the pink light meditation each night. I've also been using aromatherapy during the day time to stay calm & centered this cycle. I really really like your imagery & think I will start borrowing it -as long as I get good news today.
This last ET I completely emptied my bladder right before the MD came in. He said I didn't need to be completely full because I'm thin. It didn't seem to affect the MD being able to do the transfer at all and it really helped me to lie on the table longer.
2ndtimer
Many congratulations 2ndtimer and Shari - that's fantastic news. When do you have a scan?
Ros - very sorry you got an BFN. I did an egg share on my very first IVF cycle which didn't work for me and didn't for my second when i got pregnant. It is a lovely thing to do but it does limit your options. Being selfish next time might help!!
2nd Timer- Cool how we both spontaneously used imagery during the acupuncture. Isn't it relaxing? I hope you get your beta results soon. If the HPT came out positive, I am sure you are pregnant, but just to put your mind at ease. Plus, I'm sure you want to know the number.
Please G-d, may our numbers keep rising and our peanuts keep growing strong and healthy!

OK...drum roll please...
my beta is 437!
I am so excited. I know this is going to work out. I refuse to think any negative thoughts! I just told my DH & now he's scared to death thinking we might have 5 babies. I reassured him that it's two at the most.

Holy cow, great news 2nd timer!! It DOES sound like a high number. LOTS OF LUCK, and stay positive! I really must tell you, your positive attitude has helped me more than once during this 2ww. Definitely a breath of fresh air. So thanks.
Think positively, brave women!
Later,
Shari
