Hello Everyone

Post by sunshine.12 »

If everything goes as per plan, we will be doing IVF/ICSI in jun/jul. I am new to this process. Please bear with the silly doubts I may ask. I hope the tension of this ordeal will reduce by sharing the experience with people going through similar situation. I am on BCP right now, and will start the cycle once I get my periods on Jun 10th..My doc is planning to do a short protocol on me.

Good luck to everyone to get a BFP and sticky bean/beans...

I am so glad to see we are all on our way!

sunshine- welcome, your tensions will definitely be reduced by sharing with these wonderful ladies. Let me know if you would like me to add you to our list.

wicked- glad af is here and you can get on your way too.

stay positive- we say people are stimming when they are actually taking meds to produce eggs, or stimulate multiple egg growth and are on their way to their egg retreival (ER). So there are lots of injections, but the ones that are stims are ones like gonal-f, follistim, menopur...and others I am not sure of, but they are theones you are on for about 10 days growing the follicles to produce mature eggs. Hope that helps. Go luck for trying naturally this month, that would be awesome...

rosario- i don't know why these meds sometimes itch, I had it on and off through stimming, but it is all worth it.

deftones- welcome to the boards, are you from hawaii, or just like to say aloha? I am glad this is all starting for you, let me know if you would like me to put you on the list too and what your dates are.

kushka- this is an emotional roller coaster, we will all help you try and get through it

lisa- what is a test and teach? I have never heard that term before.

sabi- I am always confused on how to run the list with donors, b/c I know its a bit different. Is your donor currently stimming? Last time I ran a list we had a lot of people using donor, so I would pop them right into the 2ww when they had transfer, but if you donor is stimming, I can certainly move you up on the list.

So to all the newbies- Like I said, just let me know if you want to be added to the list. I basically say to tell me, b/c I have run these lists before and I use to add everyone and then they would disappear. We would all wonder what happened to them and never hear from them again and have a huge list of people. So just let me know you are here to stay with us for a while and I will gladly add your name.

Also, I never take offense if I need to update someone or got something wrong, just psot and say "Hey, CT_michele, can you please fix this or change this on the list." Those type of direct comments really help me to keep everyone up to date.

AFM, not much to report. About day 5 of bcp's, I am waiting to here my exact dates and protocol from the clinic, and I will go next thursday for my biopsy and uterus evaluation, they don't expect to find anything, but want to rule it out.

Ok, talk to you all soon, enjoy your week. I will try to post, but I have such a busy week/weekend coming up. My brother, who lives out of state is getting married t his summer, and this weekend we are doing a shower/bachelor party for them. The shower is at my house, so I have a lot of work to do!

Rosario - yey for starting stims. You will be our first BFP!!!! How are things going? When is your next appointment?

Ct_Michelle - Have fun with the shower and all the parties. My friend got married a couple years ago. Of course I was in the wedding and so was DH. DH was the best man. So both of us had tons of things to do and spent tons of money. I was so glad when that was all over and one with.

Angie - how did your follow up appointment go?

sabi - so when does your donor start all their drugs. Do you know this donor the donor? Hope the donor gets tons of good eggs.

ls4 - My shots class kind of freaked me out. I am not scared of needles but just seeing them didn't leave me a good feeling. Now everything has changed, I can't wait too shoot up again.

Kushka - Welcome to the board. Like you, I was unexplained for the longest time. After my last IVF cycle, they have now labeled me as dimished ovarian reserve. Not so fun because it just means tons of drugs for IVF. Don't worry too much, just take everything one step at a time and you will be fine.

deftonesmo - Welcome to the board and the IVF roller coaster ride. Glad to see you are excited to start. Keep us posted on your schedule.

Stay Positive - Glad to see everything worked out good on your CCT. Everyone has different protocols, some do BCP some go straight into stims. I would think if you are doing BCP's, then you would take those, wait for AF go in for a baseline u/s and b/w and if everything is good then you can start stims. Have fun during your mini vacation and enjoy bd'ing.

Wicked
- BCP's started YEY!!! Time always seems to fly by once I started BCP's. What protocol will you be doing?

sunshine - Welcome to the board. Ask away with any questions. We don't mind.

Tanya - Keeping my fingers crossed that AF shows here head sometime soon.

AFM - I have an appointment today to get my schedule worked out. Yey!!! DH has to go do another semen analysis tomorrow. He is so thrilled. Why can't we just tell our husbands that we need them to do take a test and then not get a million questions? It isn't like I am asking him to get blood drawn and get probed every other day like we have to do through. So what if you already had a million SA. This RE wants another one and this one is done under some high magnification so this test is different. Shut up and just do the test. Hehe sorry for my rant.

CT Michelle and to have fun 08...THANKS for the information. Everyday I learn more and more so one of these days, I won't look like such a Newbie! :?

And to have fun08, I know what you mean about the SA and DHs...I mean, come on! Uh, let's see....go have a big O or get poked and prodded by a strange male doctor in all places remote and then have cramping afterward...Hmmmmm............I think I'll pick.....gee, it's a tough one......(ok, sorry, just had to get it all out!)

And ls4, I hear you on the shots. When we went for our big consult, they reviewed all this information. When it came time to talk about and demonstrate the shots, I think I dissociated and went to my "happy place." Don't remember anything! UGH!

I'm so glad to see everyone's progress and I am sending the positive thoughts to everyone!

Hi

Thanks for asking about the appointment. The consultant said the cycle had gone well and embryo number and quality were better than expected. They said for the next cycle they would focus on getting a higher proportion of mature eggs but our numbers were typical of PCOS.

The consultant was not as nice as the normal one but we could not see him til next month!

He said he saw no value in acupuncture unless it was to relax.

So now he has given me tablets for five days so I will start AF and then I will start BCP and get dates for cycle from there.

I'm looking foward to getting started and with all the support on this board for each other this time.
Hope everyone is ok

Hi Ange,

Sorry to know that your first try didn't have better results. I have been told that expecting anywhere from 2-4 IVF cycles is probably realistic before having success, so I guess it's good to keep that in mind, even though it must be hard to get all excited with the first cycle and then get the bad news. Somewhere on this forum I read some really good advice, and that is to always have some kind of a plan, no matter what it is, if the cycle doesn't work. In other words, go in to it knowing what you will do next if it's a BFN (even if it's do nothing, take a break for 2 months, go on a trip, try again the very next month, or whatever you need to do, etc.). Maybe that will help this time around?

Good luck and keep us posted!

I am so sick and tired of all of the stress that comes with this infertility nonsense. I got a crabby call from the money person at my clinic wanting more money yesterday. I had thought we had a deal worked out and the timing of her call was awful. So, all afternoon yesterday I spent time looking for loans or credit options for infertility. The part that is so rotten is that my clinic doesn't work with anyof these companies. We got approved for one 0% interest card for 18 months only to find out today that my clinic doesn't work with them. I found another option and I just emailed my husband to ask if he could deal with it, and he said, no he's busy. I'm just seething. He was 100% on board with my first successful fresh cycle in '06, but with my FET in April and this FET in June, he seems indifferent. I don't think he has the true desire to have another child like I do. I think he wants one but if it means this kind of stress and hassle, he's fine with just our 2 year old. He really has no part because the embryos are already created and I can do all of the shots myself. It's been such a different ball game these last two cycles than the first time, so I'm struggling with that too.

Sorry to vent---

CT_Michele - pls add me to the list.
sunshine - Fresh June/July, on BCP

and have fun on the weekend.

sarah- its really frustrating when they forget to mention about some charges and only mention it in the end and then we have to run around arranging for the same! today we had an issue with claiming expense for my surgery with our insurance company, and I was upset about it for a while! but i put it in back seat, and is getting all excited about the happy things that can happen in jul..going to be optimistic till end..

to_have_fun08 - hmm.talk about the no. of pricks, cuts(i alrdy had 3 surgeries),pills etc tht we have to take...all DH need to give is sperm and moral support. :)

also anyone?how painful/uncomfortable is the ER and ET process?can we squeeze a short overnight trip(2-3 hours drive) in between ER and ET?

sunshine.12 - I am usually just fine after ER. Though some people are a lot different. After ER I will do home, take a nap and relax for a couple of hours. After that I am ready to go for the rest of the day. I have heard that if you have a lot of follicles you could be uncomfortable but I don't see why you couldn't take a 2 - 3 hr drive.

Sarah - Sorry for the financial mess. I know it is stressful. I hope you can figure something out soon. Maybe DH was busy at the time and had other things to think about. Men, what can you do with them? I am lucky enough to have 2 insurance policies that cover IVF, the only things I have had to pay for in the last year was my drugs for my cycles in 08. My drugs are now covered. So then DH has to go for this Semen analysis test tomorrow and it is a special SA test that goes under a higher magnification. The testing center doesn't take insurance so DH has to pay $150 out of pocket and was having a cow over that. I just wanted to say suck it up, you can live without $150. He should feel overly lucky that he hasn't had to pay $1000's of dollars for all this crap we have done.

Chris & Michele,
I start Lupron 5-15. Donor should be starting soon. Looking at tentative retrieval around june6-11. I need meds to get my lining in order I guess. I'll be taking a whole bunch of meds- I've got a big shopping bag full of them, yeah!! Not really. I do not know the donor. Saw pix & extensive bio on her. I went thru a broker. She's perfect! She is proven & the last woman she donated to is currently preggers w/twins! I'm very fortunate.
Hello everyone! We are all on our way. What an exciting 2 months we have ahead of us. Babydust to all!

Ct_Michelle Maybe in the list next to our names we can include what kind of protocol? What do you think about that?

wickedwheel Positive thoughts going out to you too =]

to_have_fun08 Lets pray we get our BFP this time around. I have a feeling that everything will be great this cycle for both of us. MY PMA is lost even DH says he is into the cycle more than I am. What can i do? I mean come on yrs of trying and 2 BFNs isn't what I want to keep seeing.

AFM:::I am now on Day 2 with stims. No itchyness after that incident which I THANK GOD! I normally feel some action around my ovaries when I am just on the Gonal F alone, but haven't felt anything and I am thinking its because of the Lupron they've added in the mix. I am currently on the No OCP Lupron Microdose IVF Protocol (for those who want to know).
IVF #1: Oct '08- BFN
IVF #2: Feb '09- BFP (Chem)
IVF #3: May '09- BFP
(Triplets lost at 21.5 weeks- Preterm Labor)
BFP: Natural Pregnancy March '10
Little Frank Manuel arrived 11.20.10
June '11 natural BFP sadly ending in miscarriage :(

Hi everyone

Just a quick post from NZ!

I start BCP's tomorrow and will start stimming next month.

Rosario & Chris - I am on a microdose protocol (same as last time). Buserilin x2 daily and gonal-f once a day. I will get my plan from the clinic in the next couple of weeks when I pick up my drugs. When I saw my dr after the miscarriage he said he'd do a higher does of gonal-f this time. I only got 5 eggs last time and from that 1 embryo so I guess they are hoping for a better numbers.

Tanya - sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Its a tough thing to get through. I miscarried at New Years and it took me a few months to get back to normal. My clinic suggested waiting around 3 months till I tried again. I didn't feel ready until now.

sarah - hope the $$$ sorts it self soon - the less stress the better!

I read on someone's post about acupuncture. Their doctor said it only really helped with relaxing. I haven't done the whole acupuncture thing through any of my cycles but I am this time. I felt so relaxed after my session it was amazing. I am going back again next time in the city but just wondered how many others are acupuncturing with their IVF?
