Egg retrival and embryo transfer done, 2ww on!

Post by hopeful_009 »

ALEXIS:

Today is the big day for you, right? Hope the blood test is a huge positive. Am sending all sorts of good vibes your way.

As for me, the egg retrieval went really well. We managed to get 14 eggs and by the next day we had 11 embryos. Yay! Am so proud of that fact alone I cant tell you.

Anyway, of the 11 embryos my Doc was pleased cos we had 5 really good blastocysts and on Wednesday (yesterday) we had two embryos transferred. So now I wait. I am trying to stay as calm as a I possibly can. I am on a complete high because I know that there are embryos in my uterus. After four failed IUI's and constant wondering whether I could even get to an embryo stage, we're here.

Please let me know how the blood test went. I would also appreciate if you could tell me if you felt any tweaks and twinges during your 2ww. I have already had some lower back pain but that may be just the Cyclogest talking.

hopeful_009: congrats on the transfer! It'll be no time at all that you'll get that beta test done.

AFM: I just got back from my 3 day transfer. It went really well, other than the fact that my bladder was going to explode! They got a great u/s picture of my uterus and we got to see the embryos transfer (or, at least the fluid that contained the embryos). Out of the 4 eggs that fertilized, all 4 were put back based on my age (42) and that I have had 4 miscarriages most likely due to chromosomal issues. it still scares me a bit that they put back 4 embryos. I could handle twins, but I don't think I would want to go through a pregnancy of more babies than that. That's not healthy for me or the babies.

Anyway, I asked about the embryo quality and she said 3 were grade 4 (highest grade at my lab) and 1 was grade 3 because of some minor fragmentation. She actually said one of my embryos was "cute" because it started to blast by day 3, which she said was very good. I'm so happy with the results so far! All I need now is a + beta 2 weeks from now and a baby that sticks!

rsdrisco: This all sounds GREAT to me! I, too, am 42 so I am totally cheering you on and hoping for the best! I won't have my ET until sometime in August (but will do ER the first few days in July), so I have a much longer wait than you. In the meantime, take it easy, relax, think good thoughts, pamper yourself, and I so hope that this is your time!!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed....

Hi ladies! It sounds like everybody has been making great progress in their cycles:) I had my beta test today and have a BFP!!! I am very excited, but also very nervous. I had some spotting today already. My doctor's office said it is pretty common, but to call back if it increases or if I get crampy. After so many months of trying, the last thing you want to see if anything close to red! So, I cautiously optimitic. I will have another beta drawn on Monday, so hopefully my number will continue to increase. I'm telling you, I think this month is a pretty darn lucky month for our group! It feels like there have been a lot of BFPs, doesn't it?

Lauren, rsdrisco and Hopeful_009: welcome to the wonderful 2ww! Let me know if I can be of any support to you during this time. For me, it felt like such a long time to wait! I had a few IVF friends that I got together with...it really helped me to hear about their experiences and talk about ours. I tried to keep busy too!

Lauren: How are you feeling? Are you still experiencing the OHSS? What is the date for your beta test?

rsdrisco: That is wonderful news regarding the number that fertilized and also the high quality of your embryos. I understand your worries about having multiples...in my mind, two seems manageable, but more than that can be scary/overwhelming/medically complicated. I worked as a antepartum nurse for about 2 years (this was 8 years ago), and I saw some triplet moms and 1 quadruplet mom who were in the hospital for bedrest and monitoring...it was amazing and yet hard on these women to be in the hospital on bedrest. When is your Beta test?

hopeful_009: congratulations on your embryo transfer too! It is so exciting knowing you have fertilized embryos inside, isn't it? My husband and I were on a huge high knowing our embryos were inside of me:) When is your beta test? You had asked if I felt any tweeks or twinges during my tww and believe me, I was watching, feeling and listening for anything to make me think I might be pregnant! I did have cramping for a couple of days after my transfer (not right after, but it started a couple days after), which in my mind was the embryo/s implanting. Other than that, my boobs have been incredibly sore all through this process...that continued and they may have gotten a tiny bit bigger. Other than that, absolutely no signs! I truly thought I would be able to "feel" if I was pregnant or that I would feel different. I was so wrong on that! Now that I'm thinking more, I think I may have had to pee a little more and had heartburn a few times (which never happens to me).

Cuppycake: Please let us know how the fertilization went...we are all thinking of you!

Stay Positive: Glad to see you are continuing to post :D That's exciting that your injections start in about a week! Please keep us posted on how you are doing!

Abogenpohl: Welcome! I believe your ER is tomorrow, so best of luck with that:) Please let us know how that goes!!

Saunagrl: Any news for you?

Hey all,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still sending sticky baby dust to all! Everything is going well here. I have been having "sludge" discharge twice now (brown mucousy stuff) sorry if TMI but they said it is normal as long as no cramping. The U/S showed some specific hemmorage type thing (forget the "technical name") but it is ok. I had *TMI warning* diarrhea today with alot of stomach pain so I called in to the doc just to make sure everything was ok. He told me to "put my feet up and relax!" LOL ok no problem... with the fatigue I have... I can do that!!
We are going to Pittsburgh this weekend to see DH sis and family so this should be interesting (how to rest and relax without letting everyone know) LOL

Otherwise, no interesting symptoms except occasional (thank God) nausea and constant fatigue.

Good luck to everyone and lots of babydust to you all

Alexis:

Most excellent news girl. This is so encouraging. Try not to stress about the spotting. Am sure the doctors are right. Thanks for the info on the niggles. Yesterday I had some lower back pain that seems to have disappeared today. I am trying not to imagine too much and just let things be. Am still excited though and I can tell that my hubby is brimming over but is working really hard at trying to keep it all inside so that I dont get too caught up in it.

Stay Postive:

Chin up girl. Your ER and ET will be here sooner than you think and we'll all be here to cheer you on.

rsdrisco:

Be strong. Wishing and praying for lovely strong eggs that become cute strong embryos.

Alexis: Congratulations on your BFP! That's awesome!

I get my beta blood work done a week from Tuesday (6/23), but I can't wait that long to find out if it's + or -. I will be taking a pee stick test before then (probably Saturday at the latest). I can't imagine waiting for a phone call to tell me if my IVF worked or not. If it's -, I need to know before they call. Heck, I have a bunch of cheapie tests, so I might just take one each day this week to see if it ever goes +. But if that starts driving me nuts, I might stop that for a while.

I'm curious, who among us likes/needs to wait for the beta test to see if the IVF was successful? I can see it both ways. Just wondering...

Hello Everyone. Just an update on things here. On friday I had 9 eggs retrieved total. Was very sore afterwards and crampy related two endometriosis. It went quick about an hour and I don't remember anything after the iv meds given :? Little discharge from dark brown blood and betadine used during procedure. I used heating pads and pain meds for relief. I also got first injection of progesterone. Today my doctor called and told me of the 9 eggs 6 fertilized with the ICSI process. :D Looking at monday the 15th for embryo transfer at 11:30 but depending on what cell stage embryos are at by then. May have to wait till Wednesday or Thursday. Doctor agreed on 4embryos for transfer. For now I am getting the intramuscular progesterone injection daily. My hubby gave me first one at home today which makes cnd day total 4 them counting yesterdays. It was a breeze!
I am still very tired and sleeping alot.
Thanks everyone for asking. I pray all goes well for each and everyone of us!!! Lots of BABY DUST to all!!! This is going to be a good month for sure. Got to keep the attitude positive!! :)
Will check back here again soon when I can think more clearing.......very tired.

ALEXES Congrats to you!! :D I am so happy for you.
Keep us posted on progress. :)

I wanted to share this little fertility prayer I found online.

Almight Creator, hear this fertility prayer and the wishes of my heart. You know my deep desire for a child--a little one to love and to hold, to care for, to cherish. Grant that my body may conceive and give birth to a beautiful, healthy baby in Your holy image. Guide me in all my choices so that this conception, my pregnancy and my baby's birth are in line with Your will. Heavenly Father and Holy Mother, hear this prayer of my heart, mind and spirit. Amen.

God Bless everyone here!!!
Love,
Amanda

Hey Ladies! How is everyone who is still on their 2ww doing? I am halfway through tomorrow morning. I am going CRAZY! I had menstrual like cramping for like the first 5 days, but those have subsided. I now have SUPER sore bbs... I am still trying not to do to much, and am feeling a bit down. It is hard just waiting around! I know all of you can relate. Last night was the first time I thought to myself... "hey, I might be pregnant!" I am so used to not getting my hopes up. Last night I realized that there were three embryos placed in my uterus. There is a chance that I could be pregnant! I am hopeful.

cuppycake: My clinic made me rest for 20 minutes after the ET and it was an EXCRUCIATINGLY LONG 20 minutes because my bladder wanted to burst. Then they wanted me to rest that day and the next (not bedrest, but just don't do anything crazy). I'm not supposed to have intercourse for the next two weeks or do any jumpy type exercising. So I plan to walk on the treadmill starting Monday (5 days after ET). I usually run on the treadmill, but I think they consider that "jumpy exercise".

USMCwife14: I hope the BFPs keep coming!

AFM: I am in PAIN today. Nothing I can't handle, though. I have major AF-type cramping. Also, I took a pregnancy test (internet cheapie) on Saturday (7 days after my trigger shot) so I could start testing it out of my system and it was negative...completely white. This morning's test had a very light line. But I'm thinking it's still the trigger because it has only been since Thursday (3DT). I don;t think there's a way I could have implanted already AND have a test show a line. So I will continue to test with the internet cheapies every morning to see what's up. It's one way to keep me occupied. Now I have to go lie on the couch for a while.
