Hi tx,
How exciting to be going through IVF in the middle of the holidays.... It would be the greatest gift of all! We're holding off until February for our next attempt, but want you to know you have joined a good forum that offers tons of support here. Also you might also like to check out the December Thread--if you haven't already where several are going through IVF treatment right now too. :)
Wishing you the Best!
Sunshine

Kynlee, sounds like you are getting into the Christmas Spirit with all the holiday shopping! I never know when to stop shopping, that's for sure! :D Today I'm trying to wrap up the "menu" for our party. DH laughs at me whenever I say menu, because we're not a restaurant. lol but I do like to get carried away in the kitchen this time of the year too. What are ya'll favorite Christmas candy? Anyway I'm praying to the Warm Weather God to bring us a pretty Saturday next weekend so we can paint santa ornaments with all the neighborhood kids. I love this time of the year with getting together with all our friends and loved ones. Of course some do put the fun" in dysfunctional, but who doesn't have a crazy family member? Oh it's the holidays and we only see them once a year, right?...On my mom's side, we have a really huge family with many first and second cousins, and my dh said last year the only thing he remembers someone saying the whole time we were there was "Who's car is that parked out back behind mine?" -Wait maybe that was me! No seriously I'm just glad we don't exchange gifts there. Yesterday in Wal-Mart as we were waiting at checkout, I met this young girl who told me she had 37 cousins, nieces and nephews to buy for. I said why not play Dirty Santa? She said we do on my side of the family, but his side won't go for that. She said she has to start right after Christmas and hit the clearance sales in January, I was like what, that is just insane. We agrees that sometimes it would be easier if everyone had skype, definately would be less stressful you know. Okay sorry for all the rambling, but by now you know how fussy I can get!

Justsolast- like Kynlee said the Lupron wasn't bad at all. I liked using an ice-pack on the area before and after, but most importantly be sure you rotate sides (R, M, L) in the admomen every night, that way you don't bruise.
Yes we believe you are so right, this time next year will bring us 3 new joys in our own life! (and I don't mean triplets)
Yes we must remain friends no matter where this journey takes us! :P

Sunshine- Yes I am on a shopping spree for the HOlidays, But I am a shopaholic so Idont mind... I am a girl that likes to find a good clearance rack lol... As for a large family, I coudnt even begin with how big mine is... i have 3 brothers 2 sisters 12 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews that is not including the million and one cousins i have lol... And believe me I have a few crazies in my family, but whats family without ONE nut... lol I love to cook especially for lots of people... I am Italian and My mom always cooked so I learned from her :) Dont worry I call my Holiday Feast a Menu too... :) ( apps, soup, antipasto Main coarse and of course dessert) We are going to Christmas at my neices so I am making a Lasagna and a pumpkin roll ( that's everyone's fave even though it more of a Thanksgiving dessert everyone request it year round ) :) What kind of Christmas ornaments do you make, are they the cookie ones that you high gloss with sealer??? I lost my recipe for those and I wanted to make them this year.. We cut down on everyone we have to buy for on CHristmas we now just buy for the kids and his Mom... It was getting to be too much...

Kynlee- I actually cheated and bought 18 cute (ready to paint ceramic ornaments) at Hobby Lobby last week...Since everything was 50% off $1.00, I kinda went haywire! I considered making them myself, but wanted to go the easy route. You might can find that recipe on Cooks.com under dough ornaments possibly, but looks like it would be a FUN tradition to get back into.

My biggest challenge is forecasting the weather for next weekend! We had planned on using the decorated gazebo and a couple of tables outside, but not sure it will be warm enough down here. Last year everyone was on the beach- IN SHORTS Christmas day, so you kinda never know what to expect one weekend to the next, but hey that's what the fire-pit and smores are for, right?

I so love anything Italian! I wanted to ask if you might have a great chili recipe? I found one last night on "my recipes.com" called Chunky Beef and Tomato Chili, that we might give a try, but really love playing with spices.
I'm thinking a really good cheese dip might compliment this pretty well. But my goal is to keep things simple, if I can figure out how! Last night I played with my Christmas cookie cutters and whipped up some peanut-butter cookies and drizzled hershey's syrup- oh my just sinful!

Anyway, You're so right, Christmas presents should be for the kids, but for us--it's the gathering and LOTS of fabulous food!

Sunshine-That sounds fun hanging outside painting ornaments and making smores... Wish we could do that in RI but it is so cold here already that I would never be able to sit at the firepit I would still freeze lol.... I do have a easy Chili recipe that is delicious and also a GREAT cheese dip recipe I will inbox you when I get home from work to send it to you :) I will have to go look on cooks.com for the recipe for dough ornaments, my aunt had it but she is forgetting everything and has no clue what we are asking for so I figured I ask around :) Talk to you later :)

Just so lost- How are you???

Hi ladies!!! Welcome txcplforivf!!!
I'm here. Just working tons of OT trying to put some duckies away for the procedure. I did, however, come up with a wonderful gift you guys could get me for Christmas, pay for my IVF!!! Not don't you guys trip over one another trying to get to the mailbox to mail off your money, I am more than happy to accept the full amount from you both. They take VISA, MasterCard and cash.

Just joking. I have not been out there shopping. I've done my shopping either online or special orders. I've got 25 immediate relatives (parents, siblings and their spouses and the nieces and nephews) to shop for so hopping from store to store isn't an option right now. So my burst of excitement and holiday cheer happens when I get home and see a box or package waiting for me. It's like I'm cheating because I get the gift first since it ships to me and I get to open it THEN I wrap it for them. I've gotta find life's little treats anywhere I can. :D (that must sound like a pretty sad life). But I do enjoy that.

How are you guys? Anyone tempted to buy a gift for our baby for next year? I declare I'm so close to finding an ornament or stocking or something to represent my mind state of already KNOWING my new bundle(s) of joy will be here next year this time. Kind of a way of saying..."see, mommy was preparing for you last year and here you are" Yeah, I can be a bit touched sometimes. I'm just soooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!

Justsolost- You are too funny, if I were rich I would send you something lol Well I guess if you are ignoring us for OT to pay IVF I will let it slide lol :) I wish I could get some OT, my work has slowed down so our hours got cut and My husband will be getting laid off once the snow starts so Winters are a tough time... SO SO excited that I have some kind of plan, when do you get yours? ANd where are you from?

Kynlee-oh no. Laid off? :-( I'm so sorry. Is it just for the winter season? How about you? Do you think your hours will pick up soon? I sure hope things work out for you guys. I know its easier said than done but try not to stress. Especially with the procedure coming up.

Maybe when we wake up in the morning we'll have IVF cash under our pillows like we lost a tooth and got money from the fairy godmother. :-)

I'm down south so other than some low temperatures, we don't usually get snow or anything like that.

I got a call from someone at the office today and they said they'd be mailing me my protocol. I said okay but I was in shock because I wouldn't figure they'd mail me something so important. Wouldn't they like sit me down and explain this stuff to me? I'm going to give them until next week when they're supposed to call me for a status check, in hopes the lady was wrong. So I'll ask them for more info then. I dont know. But I'm the last person that needs to be figuring out medications on my own. I hyperventilate when having my blood drawn. It takes 2 people to do it, 1 to draw & 1 for me to focus on so I won't pass out. I REALLY dont need to be fooling around with needles without instructions. Now you guys know my sad secret...I'm a chicken. I plan to go to the local college here for the nurses in training to give me my injections. How sad is that? (shaking my head)

Actually Just-so-lost, I think it would be brilliant for them to come to our house and give us the injection every night. Why not? It's like Home Health Care in a round about way and I know some of us would be willing to pay for that! The truth is once dh gets the hang of the injections it's not so bad. Just have to make sure it's not given too fast and like Kynlee said he pinches up the skin first before giving the injection.

Kynlee, we hope dh getting laid off is just temporally. You mentioned snow storms, does he work outside?
It's funny how we are react down here to even sleet in the forecast, Everyone gets in this panic mode, runs to the store and cleans out the bread and milk. Never understood why, since bread molds, and milk sours! But hey it wouldn't be the south if we acted any differently.

Justsolost- Your so funny, believe me I am a chicken to... I actually called my Dr office the first time before I did meds and they had someone sit with me to go through the whole box of meds and they showed me how to do it ona pin cushion, I was still nervous so I watched a video online from my pharmacy.... My DH did the first shot for me and then I told him never again so I did them ALL myself... Wasnt to bad I promise they look scarier then they really are... As for My DH he gets laid off every winter due to weather cause he works on roofs, he will pick up side jobs here and there but bills are always higher in the winter so it sucks... I wont get myself worked up over it, I have too much on my mind to look forward toso me and DH will focus on that while he is laid off... He will be able to go to DR appts and stuff with me so im excited about that... :)

Sunshine- with all the Mone we pay they should have nurses that give you the shots at home :) Everyone does get in panic mode and the market is packed lol I dont crazy cause its not like we are goingto be bound to the house for the month and sometimes i think thats how people are thinking... I go to the market to get dinner stuff for us but I dont go to crazy :)

lol Kylnee, you all get so much snow. It hasn't snowed in Pncy, Florida since 1989 but I am from Alabama and lived in Georgia for 5 years, so I have seen snow, but probably couldn't drive in it. We'd have to have the police "snow plower" clearing off the pavement and heaven forbide if we lived on top of a mole hill.
