Hi Tiger,
A spring day sounds lovely, is quite cold here in Brissy today!!
Know what you mean about looking forward to starting the program, I felt exactly the same way qhen I started IVF!!
Belinda
Hi everyone - I can't believe it is Thursday already - hurray, one more sleep until the end of the week!!
Deanne - hope your blood test went ok (today?) and that you have the ok to inject - we have been doing ok with the needles, although I would have to say that I prefer the sniffing - each time I have the needle ready to go, I worry that it will hurt, but really, it doesn't. Its weird, because some of the injection sites are invisible, while a couple have left bruises, not sure why there is a difference. Had to go to Brisbane and Sydney this week, no problems taking the pen and needles through security onto the plane which was good.
Bel - how was the trip to Sydney? how long were you there? How did Annie go on the plane? we were staying at bondi opposite the beach, it was pouring and freezing cold, but went out with some colleagues for dinner on tuesday night to this little greek place - fantastic, they have a mezzes night on Tuesdays, bit like tapas - we had the best lamb, potatoes, risotto, calamari, haloumi etc, bit like having yum cha, lots of little plates to share
Barbara - how did Donna go with her EC and ET? Hope she is feeling well and positive for the next couple of weeks
We have an ultrasound for 8.15 tomorrow morning and then find out when EC is likely to be - sometime next week - as we move through each stage the whole thing seems to become more and more real...
Deanne - have you thought about how many embies to transfer? We keep on swinging between one and two - DP is terrified at the thought of triplets . . . so I think we will probably go with one!!
My step daugher has just started a job at McDonalds (she is in first year uni) - she doesn't have a car but it is close enough to walk when it is light. She finished at 12.30 this morning, so I went to pick her up - slept half an hour, put out one cat, slept half an hour, put out the other cat - driving to work this morning, bleary eyed, thinking - if everything works out with the ivf, this is what it will feel like this time next year - so having a 19 year old and 2 cat is maybe good preparation for a baby?!?!
take care everyone

Tiger, I'm off to Sydney tomorrow, hopefully Annie will go OK in the plane, she has two teeth now (have I raved about this already..probably!!), so that is upsetting her a tad, but she is such a morning person and we fly down at 6am, so cross fingers all will be OK!!..You're volunteer work sounds really interesting!!, are you working with people with mental illness' such as Schizophrenia etc, or with people with Intellectual Disabilities??, I've worked with the latter in a former job with the Department of Family Services in Qld, was fascinating, but very hardgoing at times..Hope it's all going OK!
Barbara, great news about Donna's egg collection, remember it only takes one embie to make a baby, and two to transfer is fantastic news..Also great that there is potentially one to freeze!!, wishing her all the best for transfer today. Tell her to take it easy during the dreaded two week wait!!
Josie, your trip to Sydney sounds fab, I love Bondi, my parents live on the beach on the Central Coast (about an hour north of Sydney), it is just so lovely to be near the water..Good luck for your scan this morning..It is 7:45 am at the moment, so I'm guessing you're already at your clinic (unless you live right next door!!), let us know how it went and when your egg collection will be..Is a big decision the one versus two embie transfer thing..Annie is fabulous and I love her dearly, but I don't know how well I would have coped with twins!!!!..but then you just would I reckon, you'd have to!!!!!!
Jo, wow, you're really coming along now! Hope that the ultrasound this morning went well and that you've got a date for the EC. I'm glad to hear the plane travel didn't cause you any problems either.
Yep, I've been given the go ahead to start injections tonight. The nurse said that if all goes to plan, I should be having my EC a fortnight from today. So now I'm just hoping these next stages go smoothly. If we're lucky and do make it to the embie transfer stage, our Dr's advising us to transfer only one for our first attempt, based largely I think on my age (32). We'd seriously consider transferring two on any future cycles though. It is a tough decision, isn't it!
Barbara, I'm sending you and Donna every best wish for the ET today and the next two weeks. Good luck!
Belinda, have a safe trip tomorrow. It looks like sunshine for the weekend, so it's perfect weather for being by the coast - enjoy!
Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.
Cheers

Had scan on Friday, not sure if it was good news or not - I think that I had really high expectations of how my body was reacting to the meds - at this stage, we have three follicles that are 14,12 and 10, plus another 10 or so that are under 7 mm - apparently we need three good ones for them to go ahead, so it looks like it will be ok, continuing on with sniffing and injections, another scan and blood test on Monday - it has really made me stop and think - I was pretty casual about the whole thing, as have conceived two children without intervention, and expected that 'my' side of things would be textbook, with only concerns re DP and the effects of the vasectomy (which we won't know until EC day, when they aspirate the sperm). Now I am starting to panic that we have left the whole thing too late (I am 37 in October) - just need to take a breath and relax and see what happens in the scan on Monday - DP extremely supportive, so fingers crossed that all goes well.
Belinda - hope the trip went well!!

Jo, hang in there. I'm sure you're both going to be fine - it's still early days yet. I hope the scan goes well today and brings good news. I'm glad your DP is being supportive - it makes such a difference.
Try and get as much rest as you can in the next couple of days - I've heard that it's as important to rest and relax in the lead up to the EC, as it is after the ET.
Take care,
Deanne

Barbara, I hope that Donna's ET went well and that she is taking it easy. What day does she test? Let's hope she gets a BFP result (and you get your grandchild). I will keep my fingers crossed for her.
Deanne, how is the injecting going. It is really not such a big deal, is it? Those needles are sooo tiny.....thank goodness!
Jo, how did your scan go today? The best indication of likely egg numbers is the results of your E2 bloods. The levels should be between 2-6 hundred for each mature follicle. My clinic likes to see the levels at about 10000 prior to EC. Did they give you these results? Try not to worry, a lot can happen in the last few days of stimming and it really does just take one embryo to make a baby! That being said, I found the period between the scan and finding out how many eggs had fertilised to be the most stressful part of the treatment...so telling you not to worry probably won't help.....try to relax while you are worrying!
Not sure if you are checking in Belinda, but I hope you have a great holiday. Do some shopping for me!
MissMolly, hope you are ok. You are obviously busy planning your fabulous trip. Just think, when you get back you will be able to watch all those sex and the city DVDs and say "I've been there....I've seen that". Yay.
Howsit going Tiger. How did the volunteering work out. Is it something you think you will enjoy and continue with? I should imagine it would be really rewarding...and fun!
Well, winter has hit Central Queensland. I had to drag the heater out and close the house up tonight. I have dogs and cats curled up on all the sofas and there is no room for me. I hate winter. I went to Airlie Beach for the weekend and I didn't want to come home...it was about 10 degrees warmer at night and really relaxing. Oh well, back to work and back to reality today!
Hope you all have a great week.
Cheers

Barbara, sorry for not replying sooner but have been taking it very easy. My EC went well & I got 10 eggs of which 4 fertilised and 2 were transferred. How is Donna doing? Hope ET went well and that she is now taking it easy.
Pauline, I had been wondering how you went. Donna had 3 out of 6 which fertilized. One was frozen, but apparently quite a weak one 2 cells). and two transferred, one 4 cells and one 2 cell. This was done on Friday last 20 May, so waiting like you. All being well she goes for a blood test on 1 June.
Donna is a child care worker and has a couple of kids in her room who like to punch stomachs, so she weill have her work cut out keeping them at bay.
Good luck to you all with your various stages.
Will keep you posted
Barbara
Josie - I'm no expert, but I think your follicle numbers sound very normal. It really is no indication as to how many eggs you will get on the day. Hang in there - EC is just around the corner.
Heather - Airle Beach sounded lovely! What a way to spend the weekend. When we are away, we are going to do the Sex and the City tour - so touristy, but sounds so fun!!!!!!!!!
We had our follow up appointment yesterday with out Dr. He was really pleased with how the cycle went, however he feels I may have had boarderline mild OHSS (my pain was quite bad for several days, and I was really bloated). He said if we have to go for another stim cycle he won't increase the dose of puregon. He has booked us in for two back to back natural frozen cycles. I am just waiting for AF to start, so ET won't be too far away - yippee!!!! I also got quite sick from the progesterone, so I don't have to have that for these cycles. He said my natural progesterone levels are really good, so I most likely had too much. I am so relieved about this - I hated the progesterone sooooo much. I got really bad diarrhea (so if tmi ). It was so bad that I almost couldn't leave the house. He also told us that he is having a lot of success at the moment, with at least five pregnancy per week!!!!
Have a lovely day

Heather, I hope you're keeping warm and settling back into work. It's always hard after a break away in the sun!
Miss Molly, it sounds like you're on track for a much smoother run this time around - good on you.
I got the go-ahead to start injecting last Friday. DH has been doing it and we haven't had any hassles. I hardly feel it actually (must be all that padding on my tummy!).
Hope all of you are doing well.

Fantastic news MissMolly. It will be so nice not having to go thru all the drugs, etc and it can happen really quickly. I bet you can't wait. Your doctor's success rates sound promising too. They say that life happens while you are making plans....sounds like booking an o/s trip might be the trick to a successful treatment!
Deanne, glad the needles are going ok. I am sure that a bit of tummy padding helps the whole process.....I certainly didn't have a problem finding a bit of tummy to pinch!
Jo, I hope the scan went well and you are feeling more confident. Not long to go now!
Best wishes to all for a great week.
Cheers
