Hola Everybody

Started deregging today! WooHoo! Was very proud of my needleship. Finally on road! The karma roundabout really worked wonders today and I'm feeling mighty positive. Probably buoyed by the choco banana breakfast overkill. The question - how much is too much Nutella?
Me walking to work after 5 kilos of crepe.... Image

Nes - think Embryo Velcro! Am sending cyber uterine super glue! Good luck.

And good luck to all in the oct ivf sisterhood

Morning everyone.

Nes - That's great, like everyone else I'm practising my telepathy and telling your embies to settle in.

Steph - Goods news. Hope your ET is smooth and successful.

Little R - See a little prick doesn't hurt (said the actress to the bishop)! Well done.

Well I went for my second scan yesterday to see how my DR was doing and for some reason the buserelin hasn't kicked in properly because I had a medium sized follicle and the lining of my womb is quite thick. I've had an injection of Ovitrelle which I believe will make me have a bleed and of course will continue to DR. I have to go back next week. I'm praying that by then something will have happened. I'm already one week slower than anticipated so by the end of next week I will have been downregging for four weeks! No wonder why I haven't been feeling any side-effects, I don't really want them but I do now! The nurse tried to reassure me saying that this won't affect the overall outcome of the treatment. How long could I be downregging for? There is nothing in Zita's book on time limits. Anyway shall just have to continue injecting and praying. :?

Take care.

Camilla, I had an extended DR this spring. My clinic wanted to get me started but the long Easter holidays meant they had me DRing for nearly 6 weeks. I don't think any harm can come of extra-DRing, provided it's under supervision.

Steph, I hope ET went well today.

Don't forget October buddies, let me know your test dates and I'll add to you to the ever-growing list :)

Good luck,
Debra.

Hello October Buddies!

Thanks for the yoga advice a while back. Maybe I'll just stick to chocolate instead - safer and yummier!

It's so helpful to read all of your diaries and find out what you're all going through. It really helps me as a first-timer because I can get some idea of what to expect.

AF arrived yesterday. I've been DRing for 9 days now and I'm booked in for a scan on Tuesday 11th to see if the DR has worked (I haven't had any side-effects, so I'm a bit worried that it won't have worked) - Camilla, I hope things start working for you - the wait must be really frustrating.

Nes, wow, what a roller-coaster you've had! I really, really hope your two little embies are holding tight and growing well. I'll keep all my fingers and toes crossed for you. I can't imagine how agonising the 2ww is!

How much time do most people take off work? Do you book holiday off or take sick leave? And when is it best to take time time off - before EC as well as afterwards? I've told my boss that I'm going through an IVF cycle but he doesn't know what to expect (and neither do I!).

Sending out lots of positive vibes to everyone...

Jeni, IMO there's no need for time off before EC. Some people book from EC+ off (different people respond different ways to EC, sometimes painful afterwards, sometimes not). I think many people take the first week off, more if they can. Again, some take holiday, others ask to be signed off. I prefer to work as it helps pass the time BUT I only work (very) part time, for myself and in a stress-free and non-physical job.

Jeni, there's a time off thread over on the PG board, as the people who answered obviously got +ves, you might want to check it out.

Thanks Debra - that sounds like top advise. I'm pretty stressed at work, so I might try to wind down a bit before EC and then take a week off from EC onwards.

Best of luck for your results on the 20th...

Evening ladies! Hope everyone is doing well.

Nes - Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Hope you are getting much needed rest. Sending lots of luck and good thoughts your way. :D

Looks like there are a lot of us this month. So best wishes to all.

I start downreging tomorrow. This is my 1st IVF so I really don't know what to expect. :?: I am scared, but will do what is needed. Hopefully all goes well for EVERYONE here. It's nice to know that I am not alone.

Talk to you soon,
Stephanie

Hey buddies!

Have a quick question for you?
I'm using Puregon and have never used this before...is it normal that it really stings when injecting it? :?: :?: :?: :?:
I wonder whether it is me or simply normal?

Stephanie - this is my first IVF too and pretty nervous although I have done treatments before.

Camilla - love your sense of humour ;-)

Hope all is well for all of you....

Lots of PMA

Hugs,

Little R

Hello everyone

Debra - Thanks re downregging, that's really reassured me. Good luck for 20th, another date for us to keep everything crossed for. It's great to see those dates increasing.

Stephanie - I think the anticipation is worse. Once you start you kind of enjoy it in a strange way because you know you're on the way.

Jeni - I know I'm not planning to do very much after EC and definitely not after ET. I can't add anything to what Debra said (sensible advice) but as much rest and chocolate and *Colin Firth (*replace with preferred man of choice) dvds as you can manage.

We are going to the outlaws this weekend as is our duty every now and then (and as we are hopefully going to be busy in the coming weeks) and have not forgotten to request a roast lunch before we come back (makes it a little more appealing!).

Hope you all have good weekends and will chat next week.

Take care.

Dear Little R

I use a different brand name but find that some days I feel it more than others. My DH does the injections and tries to distract me and is very good at jabbing me so I don't know. Someone might have something more useful to add.

Keep up the good work. A girlfriend of mine used to live in Dubai, she lives in Canada now so has gone from one weather extreme to the other.

HI Girls!
Wow, what a lot I have missed over one day. All I can say is good luck to everyone in the stage you are in..............
As for me- HOORAY! My doc, the magician, who said 8 eggs, possibly up to 11, actually got out 12 eggs! Very excited. I just found out that one was immature, BUT out of the 11 eggs- 8 fertilized!!! I am happy with this. I am doing a 5 day transfer and will get an update on Sunday how the little ones are doing. I was talking to my mother- in- law last night and she asked if the eggs were out. I said yep, they are out and at the clinic with DH's goods in a petri dish hopefully smoking a cigarette right now.. He, he. Apparently the atmosphere at the clinic is very romantic!
Have a good one! Luck to all.

Steph

No wonder you're happy - that's a great number!!

You take good care of yourself over the next few days and get plenty of R&R in preparation for your transfer.

Big hugs

Little P

Hi everyone!

Steph - Great news! I am excited for you. Get lots of rest now. :D

Camilla - Thanks for the words of encouragement. Yes, anticipation can be stressful in itself. Hope you are progressing in your cycle.

Jeni - Please send an update after your scan next week. Good luck.

I had my 1st shot of Lupron today. Not nearly as bad as I thought. We will see if any side-effects show up after a few days.

Everyone have great weekend. Best wishes to you all.

Hugs,
Stephanie

Little R, I've always used Puregon and to be honest 99% of the time it hasn't stung. This time I hit a nerve once and really felt it, I also bruised heavily which was a first (this was my 4th fresh cycle with Puregon). I've never tried icing the area beforehand but have read that others do this for other shots. The only thing I learned to do was breathe out heavily as the needle went in, it distracted me and helped alot.

Steph, way to go with 8! Good luck with ET next week. Lol at the petri-dish joke, you've got to laugh sometimes. Our doctor gave us a photo of the catheter releasing the embies (invisible of course) doing its thing, eg. sort-of-moment-of-conception. Oh how they laughed at my jokes about romantic occasions....

Good luck all you October ladies...
