Sue, I didn't realize you hadn't told your family. Wow, how do hold that in for so long? How fun that you are having your scan tomorrow. Can't wait to hear if you can tell the sex. I can't believe how far along we are already. I'm with you...much slower lately! That tells me I have to hurry and get the shopping done & nursery set up in the next few weeks before I completely poop out. Excited to hear your results tomorrow!

Hi everyone - I haven't posted in ages, but have just caught up on all the goss.

I was one of those 'placentas in the front' people too, and didn't really feel any significant movements until about 20 weeks. Although....I did feel things at times quite high (above my belly button) at around 18 weeks, and I thought it was too high to be the baby. But when I had my scan at 19 weeks, my little girl's feet were firmly planted above my belly button while she pushed her bum out. So they get around a bit!!!

Kristi - my first name is Belinda, but all my friends call me Bella. I thought it would be nice to give my little girl my name as her middle name, but Bella is a nice variation & something that is special to me. If/when we have a boy, he will have DH's name as his middle name too.

We started painting the nursery (all white, and will add a little soft pink to the picture rail when my parents stop helping...). As for theme, I really like stars, so I have a mosquito net with little stars on it, and am going to attempt to make my own artworks in pink & green with stars...we'll see how they go!

Am getting very maternal and starting a sewing course next week! My mum can't sew, and I can't either. I thought I would learn so that our little girl has a mum that can actually sew her school uniform!

I know it's been very hot in the northern hemisphere (US & Europe), and it seems unbearable, but I am so jealous! It has been so cold in Sydney, and raining, which is strange given we have been in drought for years. I have had to stop my walking and getting lazier by the day!

Only 10 weeks left of work!

Bella.

Hi girls!!!

The movement is awesome - defenitely more frequent!!! I get alittle panicy when I don't feel it so I bend over a little bit which allows for a good kick! Hope everyone is doing well - If I can make it through this week I will be doing great!

Hi girls! I love reading about all of the things you are buying and the way you are decorating your nurseries. You are giving me lots of good ideas :) We are waiting to find out the baby's sex before we decide on a theme for the nursery. Just 18 more days to wait!!

Mel - I was appalled when I read about your midwife's reaction. I mean, doesn't "emergency afterhours midwife" kind of tell you that she should be willing and able to take your calls after hours. Sorry she gave you attitude - I hope you gave some right back!

Someone, I think Terri, asked about my name that is picked for girl - which is Layna. My dh is Spanish, Dutch and German and I am Italian and German - so we had German in common. We were searching on the baby names site for German girls names and Layna (Leyna) jumped right out to us. We love the meaning of "Little Angel". Since I am most likely having a Christmas baby - I wanted to name her Layna Noelle (for Little Christmas Angel) but my dh doesn't like Noelle because of some girl he knew in high school (go figure). I am still working on him though.

RE: movement. A week ago I was worried because I hadn't really felt much of anything. Just a couple of flutters that could have been stomach bubbles or something. Well that changed over the weekend - I feel little thuds and thumps all of the time - mostly when I am sitting on the couch at night. It is incredible! They are very subtle - my dh can't feel anything from the outside yet. My doctor said not to be worried if I don't feel movement until I get past 22 weeks. So don't worry girls - it will happen!
And like Jessica (Jamato) said - I tend to always feel a "thud" whenever I bend over.

I have had a lot of round ligament pain the past couple of weeks too. I will feel little pains in my sides then sometimes what feels like a menstrual cramp in my uterus - but they never last more than a minute.

Dottie - haven't had the same pain you speak of in the heel of my feet, dear. I have realized, however, that my calves and feet in general tend to be more sore when I wear shoes or sandals that have any kind of heel on them. I have started wearing mostly flat shoes due to this reason. Maybe that could be what you are experiencing?

HI Mums-2-Be!! 8) Had another scan last night and Isabella is doing great..she is already 650grams and still VERY active. I have not detected a pattern but seems to me she is always moving around and kicking me :D Everything with me also looks good - doc is still happy with the weight gain - so far about 6kilos..now the rest of the weight gain should only be Isabella. In a couple of weeks I go in for the gestational diabetes test.

Are you all taking classes? Because of my travel schedule and not being in one place for very long - doc recommended to do breathing lessons instead, so today I will call to setup some sessions. We also get a private tour of the clinic so we know what to do  But that is about it as far as preparing for birth! Scary!! But I figure it is nature working at its best!

We are in the same situation as Mel_P in regards to the nursery...our main place to live is Vienna where we have a small apartment :( ..so the baby will have her own room but will be shared with the office/guest room. But I will try to do up a corner of the room so she can have her private area. There are so many beautiful nursery items out there!!

I am off to the US next week 8) ..family time and shopping :D :D :D

Hope everyone is doing well!! Any bump piccies to be posted on photobucket?? I am going to buy a new digital camera so I will post sometime next week.

Cheers, Traci

Hi all,

well i had my 24 week scan and 'bubble' was all tucked up, would not perform for us at all, so guess we will only find out the sex once s/he arrives. We couldnt even see the face or any limbs, guess it is the shy retiring type!!! All looks fine for dates though, so that is good. Guess the nursery will be in the jungle friends theme by Catherine Lansfield.

take care

love

Oh, bummer Sue! Well, it doesn't sound like you are too bothered by it. I can't believe it was hiding from you. Must be he/she wants to be a surprise to you. Glad to hear all looks good though, that's what matters!

Sue e - Sounds like your little one wants to keep you in anticipation :D I am happy everything is looking good! Have you told your family yet?

Today I have to go buy custom-made compression socks! :( I had bad varicose veins in my calves prior to being pregnant (always waited to get them fixed until after baby is born)....now they are really horrendous and I can't even wear shorts or skirts because my calves are SO ugly  Not much I can do except get these socks made and wait until after breastfeeding to get surgery....but it is all worth it!

Question....does anyone know if it is possible to print out a forum?? I thought I would print our discussions to keep (because it really is a log of our pregnancies) and wondered if anyone knew how to print specific timeframe or pages???

Hmm tracii what a clever idea. I never did write a single page in the journal that I bought, but of course we do post here all the time, so what a great record of sharing how we have all been feeling.

Like you too then will be thinking about how to decorate the corner of the room that will be for baby! Although truth be told, she probably wont even get her own corner, is she's willing to sleep in the hammock she will be right by me and DH from day 1 (until DH goes mental!!. Its only when I read about everyone kitting out there nurseries with stars and jungle animals that I want to rush out and find somewhere else to live so we can have a nursery too!!

Sue, good to hear your still in communicado. What a secret squirrel! how the heck have you kept it this quiet? There is just no way I would have been able to hide the football hanging underneath my sweater!! Is it the caution that is keeping you from yelling from the rooftops? I hope you can finally believe that you are pregnant, and really relish every moment of telling those close to you. Its a special time. I just think about how many times I prayed in my head and dreamt about being able to tell my family I was pregnant, and then not beleiving it when I could finally say it. Enjoy

Bella, if you think sydney is cold, you should try WINDY wellington. Its called windy coz theres a CONSTANT southerly and its been freezing and pelting with rain for months!! To think that when my DH dragged me over here from the UK, I was filled with his visions of a tropical paradise in the south pacific ... hah! I keep getting told how lucky am I to be pregnant in the winter months with my own personal heater. So am holding that thought whilst I try and find polyprops that will actually fit over the bump.

Lisa, it was me who asked about Layna, coz we have the name Little angel for our bub too. How weird also that you were thinking of Noella (I think its lovely), my DH threw a very similar "Noema" into the mix (Maori for November) but that got vetoed by me.

Waffling. Again. Hope all is well with everyone. Dotty sorry to hear about those feet. I did hear that from a couple of people in my pregnancy class, but cant remember what the remedy was supposed to be (how about getting a lovel foot soak and massage from DP???!) I am just finding I have a sore back when I wake up in the morning.

Hope everyone is well

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Bella - I bet you enjoyed the break from the rain - wasn't it gorgeous here in Syd? We picnicked at Cremorne Point on Sun and enjoyed the sun and the view 8)

Mel - that midwife was a cow to treat you like that - I hope you complained.

I am surprised to hear so many of us with front facing placentas - glad that I am not the only one though. Have not felt any more definite movements since last week - which were like the classic bubbles being blown through a straw, but have felt 'flutterings' daily which I am starting to think are probably the bub - hard to tell with the damn placenta in the way!

We also have not started decorating a nursery. We are moving at beg of Feb - so around 6 weeks after bubs due date so it is probably pointless. He will be sleeping in our room in a cradle to begin with anyway :)

Tracii - I started pregnancy yoga this weekend - think it will be great for helping with the birth. Anyone else doing yoga or any other prep?

Can't believe we have all come so far! The time seems to drag except when I look back and remember what a milestone I thought 8 weeks was. Not too long to go now!

Take care mummies,

Hello Ladies,

Tracii - Yes i told my family last wednesday and they were all chuffed, had lots of squeals down the phone, little sister has told anyone who knows me in the world !!!!! So secret definately out, it does feel good. We will probably pay for a 3d/4d scan nearer the time to try and get bubble to reveal itself. At the minute we are buying nice boy and girl clothes which will end up costing us a fortune when we wont use half of them.

Bet you look sexy in those compression socks!!! Does the varicose veins hurt? sorry i havent got a clue about them. yes, definately worth it!!!!

Kristi - not too bothered by it but i just wanted a nice scan picture were it actually looked like a baby!! But i was in 2 minds anyway as to whether to find out or not. How are you?

Mel p - glad the football is progressing well. I am still worried all will not end well, i guess i cant really believe IT IS happening for us, at last after the many tears shed.

Just got to go and meet my new MAP kid (like fostering but with 16 to 18 year olds)

Hi everyone else

lots of love

Hi girls!!!

Hope you are all well - its been HOT here in the states - had a slight break last night and today but by wednesday the are predicting 100 degrees - which means the air quality will not be great - anyone looking for me after work, I will be floating in my pool!

I defenitely feeling movement more often - my placenta is posterior so I have been feeling little things since about 16 weeks getting stronger each week - last night was the most fun though! I was using the doppler and Logan kicked it and i felt it from the outside!!!! Then this am after breakfast, I was relaxing and he kicked me 4 times and I actually saw my TUMMY MOVE - it was amazing!

Jessica, I love watching my tummy move too! It's so fun. Imagine how they are going to move in another month or two or three.

Yesterday I bought all my nursery room furniture, including 2 cribs. And I bought the most fabulous HUGE comfy rocker/recliner that almost fits 2 adults...so it will be perfect for me to rock/feed both babies. I plan to breastfeed if it works well. What about all of you?

Here's a fun topic no one has mentioned. SEX! Ok, so sex was non-existent in the first T for me. I didn't dare and I was too sick. 2nd T sex was great! With the third T around the corner my interest is slowing down as I slow down & get bigger. Anyone else care to share? hee hee
