*NEW* Twin mommy-to-be

Post by wantinglilones »

Hi everyone!!!

I'm expecting twins in June and would love to join this thread. It took me awhile but I actually read all 70 pages of posts from you gals and the info/insight is amazing! I hope that I can help keep this group going for some time.

I'm 14 weeks along after my first IVF attempt and all is going very well. No m/s (thankfully) or any other issues to speak of.

Now everyone is just waiting for me to "pop" so they can see me being pregnant. Its amazing how even though I'm not really showing yet that people (friends and strangers alike) want to rub my tummy. I don't have the heart to tell them that they are just rubbing me - not the babies! Oh well.

I'm afraid that this pregnancy is going almost "too" smoothly and that I'll have to pay for it when the twins arrive. Did any of the moms have this problem?

Right now both babies look and sound great. We heard the hb's for the first time earlier this week. That was such an amazing sound. Just trying to keep the weight gain to a minimum as I was already a bit fluffy when I got preg. :-) Gotta keep the holiday snacks at bay.

We are hoping to find out the sexes of our twins right before Xmas. Everyone is dying to know and they keep asking as if I'm holding on to a secret. DH wants 2 girls - we'll see if he gets his xmas wish. Do any of you expecting moms want to find out the sexes?

It's cold and rainy in SoCal right now. Hope everyone is having fun getting ready for the holidays.

Send updates when you can - I'm off to get ready for a holiday party.

Wishing everyone the very best,
Lisa

Lisa- Congratulations and welcome!!! I also read the entire thread when I first started posting, but it was a whole lot shorter back then!

I really didn't start to show until 18 weeks or so. I wore regular jeans (stretch fit though!) until then. I only gained a couple of pounds by week 20, but I made up for it at the end! Don't worry, you will soon be wearing the X-large pregnancy tops!

Kim- How did the Santa breakfast go? I have been getting out of the house with the boys more often lately. If it doesn't go well, I just go home. You can only stay in the house for so long, before you start to go nuts!

Lisa--Congratulations! Welcome to a whirlwind ride! You are very lucky you don't have m/s. It was horrible. As for the smooth pregnancy, enjoy it! You had to work very hard to get where you are, so you deserve a little joyride for now....trust me, you'll have a lot to deal with soon enough! I put on the pounds pretty early in my pg--my face totally gave it away that I was preggers. I was soooo swollen from the hormones! Good luck avoiding the sweets!

Laura--the santa breakfast went pretty smoothly, actually! We were a little nervous because the kids woke up WAY earlier than normal this morning. So, they were pretty tired by the time we got there. The did well with Santa--no screams, and they chilled in their car seats for a while when dh and I ate our breakfast. However, then some other babies started screaming, and that set Ellie off. So, we left soon afterwards. They needed a nap, and I didn't want to torture any of our tablemates! All-in-all, we were pleased with how they were...even being tired!

I'm going to post 2 pics on the bucket so you can see...

Lisa congrats on your twin pregnancy. I started to show around week 15, didn't start gaining weight till week 20.
Enjoy your pregnancy, I also didn't have any MS and it was a blessing.
Girls here are amazing, I am glad they can share their experience with us, it is priceless.

Hey everyone! Seems like I have been away or something! We have actually been working hard at getting the babies back on track! WHEW!!! What a job!

Faithandhope~ What a great photographer! You will have some great photos fir sure. We had this local gal at a place called Cherished Images do ours. (www.cherishedimages.net but her web page is 8 years old) We ended up going with a package deal called "A year to Cherish" where we can go back and do 5 sittings in a year to capture them in every stage. It turned out to be a much better deal but still $$$!!! It is worth it though. We did some of those great naked baby shots as well! I'll show everyone when they get here next week! Thanks for the compliments!

Kim~ Glad your Santa experience was a good one. What a nice Santa! The photos are ADORABLE! I'm a sucker for a baby photo and they just looked sweet as can be! Those babies are clones of your two for sure! I had to show dh and he agreed! They are getting so big! :(

Lisa~ CONGRATS on twins!!!!! It is so much fun! Hope you have a smooth pregnancy. I had no m/s and had it so easy with the weight thing. I had only gained 28 lbs. in the end but had great sized babies. Go figure! My preganancy really was great and super easy until hospital bedrest at 32 weeks out of nowhere?? It's such a blur now. Good luck!

As for the Bodie and Annelise. . .we are despertely trying to get back to where we were befoer the ear infection. Right now they are both screaming in an attempt to get to sleep. Both are so tired and desperately need to sleep but it's been like starting over for us all. Bodie was so miserable that we had him with us at night because otherwise he kept her up all night. We were at the RE 3 times last week!!!! The antibiotic killed off too many good bacteria and now he has yeast. Will it ever end?? Poor little guy. I swear I had more sleep with newborn infants! So this is what sleep depervation is?? I hear silence!!! :D :D :D Making progress everyday at the very least.

We too had a Santa outing Saturday. Our NICU has a holiday party for the graduates every year and as always they slept through the entire thing. This santa left a little something to be desired but what can ya do?

Better jump in bed while they are sleeping. For whatever reason we can't get over waking up twice a night still. Baby steps! Any suggestions?

Take care everyone!

Kholtan....so sorry to hear about Bodie! Bless his little heart! I wish I could help you with your concerns, but I have no experience YET! However, I just started reading the book, Everything you need to know about Twins, triplets, and more so when I come across good information that I"m sure you have already read, I will remind you! (-;

I think I am going to sign up for pictures like you were describing where I take the twins every 3 months for 5 sessions. It is expensive, but I think well worth it!

Kholtan....I was reading through early messages....can you give me the contact information for the insurance for the NICU?

As for me, you girls were right....I had convinced myself I must have hypermesis (the severe form of morning sickness) because I could barely function, threw up all day long and couldn't get any food or liquids down, even with Zofran! However, I'm almost 11 weeks and it is getting better! Not 100% better, but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I'll post again after my first OB appt. tomorrow!

Faithandhope~ My supplimental insurance company is Colonial Life and Suppliment. You can also use Aflack and AARP to name a few. You can have as many policies as you would like which I didn't know. It saved our bums!!! We came home to a check, free of tax, for $32,000.00!!! It pays $1000 per day, per child in the NICU. A woman in my Mother of Twins group had 3 policies and got $90,000 within 2 weeks of being home! It usually only covers the first 30 days but it only cost me $11 per month. WOW huh???? I would recommend it to everyone! Especially since multiples have a higher chance of being in the NICU. The triple trouble thread should all get it! Also, you can sign up if you are already pg. It doesn't matter.

Both my babes are taking a nap so I better get something done. Good luck!

Kholtan--How neat the your NICU has a party for its graduates! I think that's so sweet. Sorry to hear about the sleep situation. We're going through some wakups of our own, due to teething. :? I think we'll be dealing with this for a while. I hope Bodie's yeast clears up. poor guy. (By the way, you only gained 28 pounds during your pregnancy????? I am sooo jealous! )

Faithandhope--I'm glad the sickness is getting better! It should clear up very soon! Your photographers website looked gorgeous!

Malinka--how many days dear? You've got to be ready to POP!!

We got our 6 month photos today. Not as good of an experience as last time. BRaeden was very fussy. We had to schedule an early morning session, so his nap wasn't as long as he'd have liked. I managed to get some good shots. I'll try to post a few on the bucket today or tomorrow. Now, I've got to get Christmas cards made...I was waiting on their pics!

Here's to some sleep tonight!

Hi all

I have posted 5 new photos of Harry and Bronte - they have really grown since the last lot I put up. Both are rolling from their backs to their tummies. Harry is starting to hold his bottle and Bronte is nearly sitting up by herself

Kimberly - I hope Bodie feels better soon - poor guy. It does not take much to upset the routine does it?

Faithandhope - in a few weeks time hopefully that ms will be gone :) Good luck on your OB appointment.

Kim - can't wait to see your little ones. I did have a look at the santa one - too cute! I don't think Bronte would like that as she has started to respond with eyes welling with tears and drop the bottom lip to situations she does not like.

Malinka - are you still with us?

Welcome Lisa and good luck with your pregnancy :D

Malinka--You're doing great! Every day you can keep em cooking just makes them bigger and better! :D However, if I were a betting woman, I would guess that you're going to have them this weekend....I don't know...just a hunch I have! Either way, what wonderful Christmas gifts you're going to have this year! How fun! ENjoy your last week + before they arrive. If nothing else, just watch TV and read. At least it can take your mind off your discomfort! I hope!

Di--The babies look wonderful! They look so much alike, I think! THat's great that they're rolling from their backs to their tummies. Ellie keeps trying, but BRaeden has no interest. He's cool wherever he is--ha ha! Isn't it GREAT to see them start to sit up more! I just have a feeling when they're more stable, we'll at least be able to sit back more and watch. Well, let's hope, right?

We're still plugging away at the solid foods over here. Braeden is a much better sport. Ellie hates the cereal. I mean HATES it!

Have a good night!

Hi all

The babies are growing up so quickly. Those last photos really makes that clear and I see them every day :D

Kim - Both mine are eating and Bronte likes it better than Harry. Both love the sweet veggies and not so keen on the cereal which I mix with fruit. Have you tasted it? It is so bland no wonder they don't like it much.
Just you wait until they roll. It adds another dimension to things  Harry rolls over when he gets bored with his toys and he hates it! Hates being on his tummy. Bronte is sitting up really well and loves to stand and hold her weight,. Harry is no where near that. He is so big (not fat) that I think it is hard for him. I thought that about rolling over but he did it first, so who knows.

Take care all

Di

I am hoping that the twins being mobile will give me a break as it can get so exhausting trying to entertain them a lot of the time.
