Rhall00 - YIPPEE, CONGRATS!!!! WONDERFUL NEWS!!! I am sure you are over the moon! While the initial shock of the prospect of twins is daunting, just think that for all the heart ache you have gone through you could get two babies in one shot!! That is what I keep reminding myself. I will be anxiously awaiting the results of your ultrasound. It sure it nice to get a strong beta number on the first go!

I think that is the best news of the month!!! Keep us posted on your progress!!!

Kelly - thanks, thanks, thanks for all the great information!

Carolyn - glad to hear Prague is a great place for a visit -- we are looking forward to going -- maybe even more so than to our upcoming summer holidays, which we desperately need! :D
Have you made any decisions yet about what your next steps are going to be?

rhall00 -- CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wonderful news to start the week! Keep us posted on how things progress!...guess your next 2ww has already begun till you have your 1st u/s... :D

have a great week!

Thanks, guys!! It still hasn't sunk in yet and I'm in a bit of denial. But my first u/s is next Tuesday to see if it's ectopic or not. Then we'll go from there. Certainly glad to join the BFP club, but terrified of the privelages of membership!

Kelly, you have such a good outlook on twins! I think it could be fun having them, but extremely daunting. Maybe once I have the first u/s it will sink in a bit more, but for now it just doesn't feel real. I'll definitely keep you guys posted on my (our) progress! :)

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread. My history is 3 failed IVFs, last one being 2 years ago. DH & I are now looking to do DE but probably not here in UK as average waiting time is 2 years. I am now trying to research where to go and so far it will be either USA East coast (sister lives there) or Spain.

Can anyone here recommend a clinic in either of these countries or even some websites that I could look at.

Thanks.

Hi Pauline - DH and I are looking at DE abroad after 2 failed IVF - we have been recommend CERAM in Marbella Spain by our consultant - but currently closed until 17th August for holidays or there is also IM in Barcelona - think waiting lists are about 3 months.

I know CRM in London only has a six month waiting list but is very expensive

keep us posted or PM me if want to chat

Good luck

Hi Carolyn

Thanks for this. My brain is in overload as I've been on internet and phoning London hospitals for past two weeks and I'd prefer to have clinics that were recommended that just pick something blindly.

Another friends, friend recommended CEFER in Barcelona but I will also check out CERAM in Marbella.

I'm trying to get all my information together so I can sit down with hubby over weekend and give him the options and hopefully from there make a decision and hoping he doesn't get cold feet again. After last IVF he swore never again so I'm gobsmacked he is willing to at least look into DE.

Will keep you posted on the outcome.

Have you got an appt yet with CERAM?

Hi,

Well I spoke to DH at weekend about a couple of clinics in Spain that were recommended and he has concerns about us finding a blue eyed/light brown hair donor.

He wants me to look into DE in Denmark/Sweden before we make a decision.

If anyone can help with clinics in these countries it would be appreciated. In the meantime, I'll check out the internet.

Thanks again.

Hi Pauline - I know Kate21 is going to Sweeden for treatment - not ED though but she was really impressed with level of service and how personal it was over there - send her a PM am sure she will be able to help with where she has gone :D

I suppose Spain would be easier for DH and I as we both have dark hair and eyes and I am very dark skinned - often asked if spanish/Italian/Greek cos of colouring - although i am not!!!

Good luck with search - keep us updated!

Hi Anj

I like you have had 2 BFN using my own eggs - both cycles despite max stimulation I did not respond well and tey only retrieved 3 and 5 eggs respectively - not really a qulaity issue just a quanttiy issue - RE suggested that due to age 39 very nearly knocking on door of 40 that I would get beter results with DE as would not be associated risks with Downs etc due to age and would more than likely get enough from ED to have 2 goes - especially as we are paying for all our treatment -initially i was gutted but having read first few pages of this thread where there are lots of references to nature v nurture and some other research I did I came to terms quite quickly with the decision - I look at it as though I am just borrowing a few cells to help achieve our dream - I will nourish it, it will have my blood running through it and I will give birth to it - I will be its mummy :D

Good luck with the decision and keep us posted with what you decide - take time to get over your BFN though as you need to grieve for that

Sending you big hugs((()))

love

Hi ladies

I was a regular visitor to this thread a while back. We went to IM and I got a BFP with our second transfer. Matthew is now 17 months old. (and perfect in every way!)

I just wanted to say to Anj, (and others in same position) that the decision to use DE is a very personal one. I just saw it as the next step to achieve our dream. I had a very poor response to IVf drugs and didn't even get to EC. As I was over 40 it had to be the next step if we wanted a baby of our own.

I consider Matthew to be totally ours and don't give the fact that we used DE a second thought. Like has been posted earlier, he has my blood, I grew and nutured him and gave birth to him.

To all ladies out there, sending you lots of luck and best wishes as you go forward. You are very strong to go through so much BUT it is worth it in the end.

Hello to all those who know me....

Keep positive
Hugs
Anna x

PS if anyone wants info about treatment at IM am happy to help, pm me anytime.

Thanks anna - what made you chose IM - was it recommended or just best when researched?? - our consultant has contact at CERAM in Marbella and is recommending that.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks Carolyn, I contacted Kate who put me in touch with someone in Sweden but no joy, they do not do unknown donor. So I then contacted clinic in Czech Republic but haven't heard back from them yet, not a good sign, I figure if they can't reply to my email at the start, then how good would they be if I went to them.

My sister in USA has recommended RMA in NJ as she knows of 3 people that went there and they recommend it highly. I spoke to RMA yesterday and they have a 4 - 6 month waiting list and also the cost is approx $35k which is around £17k.

I wanted it all to be this year but I guess that wasn't being realistic - you'd think I'd know better by now having been on the IVF road before. Here I was thinking DE would be so much easier :?

So, to me it looks like Spain is the only option but DH is still hesitant. I'm now thinking it will never happen. A friend of his has said his brother & wife went to Spain for DE so I'm waiting for DH to phone him for a chat.

So at this stage we are still no closer to a decision and I'm losing hope again.

Carolyn, have you heard from CERAM yet? I emailed them but still haven't had a reply.
