Kimber - this is my first time doing a cycle in the winter months and I'm not liking it! :D Who'da thunk it would make a difference? I hope the snow doesn't slow you down! Happy belated half-birthday!

As for 3d vs 5d -- each individual 5d has a higher implantation rate (50% vs 33% - on average). Therefore 5d have a higher pregnancy rate. But there are some doctors that think that some of the embryos that don't survive in the lab between days 3-5 WOULD HAVE become a baby, there is no way to tell. So if there are a lot of embryos, you can grow them to 5d to have a better per embryo pregnancy rate. If you don't have so many, you transfer on day 3, in case none make it to day 5in the lab, because some might become babies in uterus. Growing to day 5is also more expensive and requires more expertise in the lab. For my first IVF, I was only approved to do 3d transfer - since 5d is more expensive and there was no reason to think I needed it. So we trasnferred 2 x 3de. I got pregnant with twins, but lost them at 22 weeks. So my doctors wanted me to do SETs. But SET with 3d is a lower success rate (2x3de and SET with 5d have same success rates)... so we were approved to do 5dt. That's what we've done since.

Carol -
11/11/11 would be a great birthday! If this works, I would be due early November (7-10, depending on exact ER date)... so hopefully! Another July celebration! hopefully in July, we will all celebrate, but on the "pregnant after treatment" board.!

Amanda 1979 - you like penguins too? I love penguins! Margi puts those penguins up for me! I have a ton of penguins around my house and desk at work. I even have a hula-penguin on my dashboard who dances while I drive! good luck surviving the 2ww!

Lauren 1711 --
now y'all are jealous of my DH, but let me remind you - he aint got enough sperm! So he's not perfect... just close!

Rio - *you* started the WTF phrase! Cool! I'm a big potty mouth - oh well. I have years and years until my kids pick it up from me, no? My mom used to always joke that she didn't want to hear any of those f*cking swear words come out of our g*dd*m mouths! :D ---- you are due on my birthday? That's AWESOME! (btw, 7/31 is also Harry Potter's birthday, for reference)

Jeib - 17 eggs is great! I hope you are feeling better!

Kynlee - It's finally Februrary! Just 5 more days until you start your Lupron!

Tammy - good luck at your retreival - our 2ww might overlap - hopefully I'll be celebrating your BFP while we wait for mine!

Margi - your birthday is only 5 days before mine! wow! Lots of July on this board!

Anton - I'm sorry your office was annoying about your job. I have the same problem -- I told my boss about the IVF when we started it - abou 2 years ago. Since then, I've been passed over a few times. I think they are all afraid I'll leave on maternity leave and not come back.... but I still haven't! Grrrrrr. Annoyingly, since then, one woman in my office has left for maternity leave (she's due any day now) and another 2 are due in April. I'll have to cover all their sh*t. UGH. Oh well -hopefully someday soon my co-workers will be bitching about my maternity leave.... --- yup, here in Israel it's free until you have 2 kids (or turn 42, or have 10 tries with no pregnancies - neither of which affect me). Also, even after that, it's pretty cheap here. I hope to have my second kid and have lots of frosties so I can have more! We want a big family (3-4 kids)... but at this point we are hoping for one.

Kat - I understand the 'hanging up the towel'more and more... I really hope our appt with the adoption people goes well, so I can have more of an idea how our chances to adopt are. I think it'll be easier to stop the IVF for us if we have some other way of having kids in place. I hope the snow doesn't affect your appt and that things go really well.

AFM - S&S this morning---- and started stims this afternoon! 2 Menopur/day and I go back on Sunday! Hurrah! :D I'm in such a good mood from the party last night. For some reason I'm feeling really good about this cycle (but then again, I always feel optimistic until the BFN). Hopefully this is the one... I couldn't possible cross my fingers any tighter!

Hi Ladies,

Ok I got to catch up a little but I feel like being away for so long I am missing a ton of people.....

Hope is all I have - I'm an Operations Manager for a Valve Company, that makes valves for the military. It's been so crazy trying to keep up with work and juggle IVF. I am so happy for you..... 7 excellet embies??? wow that's great news! Prayers and baby dust to you! When do you ET? Keep me posted :D

Margi26 - Ok what did I miss?? Your coming to Cali for treatment? That is awsome, I am in Southern California. Where are you going for treatment? And if you don't mind me asking why California? Well all is good and I am super happy for you! :D

Tammy - 7 - 8 mature follies great news!!!

Jkulb - 17 - that is so awsome wishing you embie dust!

Amanda - I want to say that I read somewhere on this site of someone's friend who had a low grade embie transfered and the doctor was sure that she would not get pg and she did. I know when my girl friend did an IUI they told her that it wasn't likely that she would get pg the egg he could see was not of good quality, she ended up with healthy twins! Hang in there you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Kimber - 5 day transfer?? So awsome that is what I am wishing this time around. Hopefully I can get that far. Wishing baby dust!!

Lenora - Ya I was going to go with FET buuuutttt, when we paid for IVF, my husband and I paid for two cycles, when they told me that the FET cycle would count as my 2 IVF I decided to go for another freash cycle. For me FET would cost me only 3,000.00 for them to do. That is so awsome with your birthday it reminds me of how I feel about Thanksgiving. How is everything else going? Where are you in your plan oh and how was the trip? Soooooo need a vacation! :D

Sunshine- Wow 12? I can't imagine how that was for you with endo. I was really uncomfortable with 14 but endo on top of that? Wow you are a trooper.

anton - My husband also wants to give me injections. Ithink its so cool that he wants to be apart of it. Ya ok planing a wedding on top of all of this? Wow it's so much fun.

Lou - 18 inches of snow - I have my fingers crossed and prayers a brewin. Baby dust baby dust

If I missed anyone so sorry and baby dust to all muuaaahhh! I have to get back to work, my assistant is looking at me funny

Hi everyone! just a quick update: i went into work today and that was a big mistake. i don't feel well at all! feeling sore, nauseous, and tired. i took all my strength not to throw up in my car on the way into work...yuck!

anyways, got the call for fertility report, and out of the 17 eggs, they were only able to work with 10 of them. and out of the 10 good eggs, 7 fertilized. so i'm on my way to ET on saturday. today is a good day :D

gotta run...back to work! baby dust to all!

Leorira-For adoption homestudy just relax..I know easier said then done. I always looked for a family who had spoken to immediate family and friends about their plans to adopt and the acceptance level of everyone around (so definitely mention your mothr's adoption and how your family/friends understand that this child is your child regardless of the process from which they came), a good support system, a strong healthy relationship (which you and your hubby clearly have!!!), financial stability (dont have to be rich just able to feed, clothe, and put a roof over the childs head :D ), an understanding of how parenting will change your life, and most importantly your desire to become parents!!! You guys have it in the bag!!!!!!!

Dont worry about your house being spotless, clean yes, spotless no!! Good parents are flexible and understand life is so not about them and a spotless house anymore..lol...I USED to be a neat freak. My oldest broke me of that real quickly. I realized I would rather play with him then spend all my time keeping my house spotless. Oh yes, just make sure you and your hubby have discussed parenting styles, discipline, plans for extra curricular etc... You want the social worker to know you are serious about parenting for a lifetime not just that you want a baby. Again, adoption is an awesome beautiful selfless way to add to your family. I tell my kids all the time that mommy is the lucky one because God chose me to be their forever mommy!! They both know their adoption stories which I have told them repeatedly so they know how much it was meant to be!

As for everyone else....I am so excited for everyones stimming, upcoming retrievals, and and sending major PMA for those in the land of torture aka 2ww. I will have to do personals later as I am crazy busy trying to get my sons boy scout field trip planned. But I will say you are all in my prayers and my mothers church group as well. We send in specific prayers. You should see my list lol!!!!

AFM, no morning sickness yet...just really sore boobs (love my excercise bras..i sleep in them now) and having to go to the bathroom every five minutes. My ultra sound is 2/15. I am dying with these 2ww. I go for another beta on the 2/3/2011. My nurse just said to take it real easy as the next month was the busiest for the baby as everything is being made. She also keeps telling me to keep an open mind for the possibility of twins. So I am trying to remain calm.

jkulab - 10 is awesome! take as much rest as possible..

anton - cute photo!! and sorry to hear about your work..

kimber - 5 fertilized..thats a good number..good luck for your ER..

tammy - 7 -8 mature ones is awesome..praying for all of them to turn into good looking healthy embryos soon..

leora - yey!! we r stimming buddies now.…and your dh is soo sweet..mine never gets a clue even if i try giving him hints in all possible ways.. and you are right!! the joke about baby stealing can scare the hell out of social worker..;). hehe.. i was watching rules of engagement the other day, and had a good laugh when the adoption agency mistook their conversation about purchasing a rug, with that of adopting a baby..jokes apart, im sure the social worker is absolutely gonna love you both…

nwquiz - when are you expecting your periods? you should've played along with the celebrity thing..i would have got a kick out of knowing that im cycling with one..;).

krcaja - great beta!! i know you must be dying to hear that heart beat…good luck for a healthy pregnancy..

pauleen - good luck for your cycle!! when are you starting?

rio - thanks dear..i really hope im suffering from all these pain coz some really good eggs are getting cooked in there..if not too much in numbers, i really hope whatever i get are of good quality.. and hows your bean doing in there?? did you find out if its boy or girl yet?

afm - the pain has slightly subsided..started ganirelix the other day..3-4 more days of stimming..!! i have this funny imagination or thought that babies choose their parents, and many of them are making rounds invisibly, checking out potential parents and pick one when they find the right ones…so i joke to dh that we should act mature and responsible, otherwise we are scaring the babies away and might not get pregnant..! …so when he act silly, i say out loud, hey babies, don't get scared..he can be a good daddy..:D.. i think all these hormone overdose have pushed me over the edge..:(.

Sunshine.. I like your story about the babies choosing you... I rarely use foul language unless really provoked... so anyone knows I am extremely angry if the F word every slips out. But DH has a potty mouth, especially after being around his friends.. but I make him cool it around my kids. They are NOT allowed to use that kind of language around me. My 23 year old will slip sometimes and immediately apologize. But when DH does it I just look at him and say "really? do you think someone is going to give us a baby when you talk like a dirty sailor?" What you said reminded me of that.

Leora.. yay on starting stims!!! You are one step closer to getting that November baby! We have to remember that this month... anyone that ovulates or ha ER on 2/18 has a due date of 11/11/11 !

margi.. how exiting! California this month huh? Moving along... that's awesome! I hope we are all happy and fat with babies this spring!

krcaja.. congrats on the beta! Woohoo.. keep 'em coming ladies!

anton... nice to meet you... sounds like a beautiful place where you live.. and that is a handsome hubby you have!

kimber.. good luck on your ER!

jkulab... 7 fertilized is awesome! I hope they all make it Saturday. How many are you planning on transferring?

Amanda.. fingers crossed for you girl!

Lou... have you found your buddy PMA yet? I'll hold onto enough for the both of us!

Tammy... 7 or 8 is great. Hopefully both of us will have good news on mature follies tomorrow! Here's pulling for the over-40 ladies! :P

I go in for my u/s follie check tomorrow morning... hopefully they are growing like champs in there. Its also groundhog day and I had this horrible thought that I was going to have to keep re-living tomorrow and the appt everyday until we got it right! LOL I love that movie by the way.

OMG.. I don't remember side effects from follistim before, but I am sitting here wanting to cry. I couldn't tell you why... it hasn't been anymore of a stressful day than normal. Unfortunately I have one of those stressful, time sensitive jobs... but I really just want to break down and start crying. I hate feeling helpless like this. Its a good thing I work alone at home.

Lou - your beta is 2/4 correct? will be stalking you relentlessly to celebrate that big BFP of yours! Remember you are very PUPO - PMA! Image

andsahsa - my goodness you guys are going to have a full house! ImageWhen do you go for your fresh cycle? BFp dust!

Leora - yeah it was a funny time when we all let our potty mouths go in the Fall board!Image It started with WTF this and that then I asked Lauren when her WTF appt was, I never thought it would catch on! I still slip around DS and hope he didn't hear me! Yep great due date!!! I can't belive you got passed over cause of trying tohave a baby! Crazy! Hope your adoption appt goes really well! Menopur and follistim? This is it! You, DH and your little penguin! Image

Sweetpea614 - I didn't realize you had a DS and DD - you look too young to have a child who is 18! :) Do you have MF? I am glad you are opting to do one more cycle!

Anton - We also have Male Fertility issues, ours due to my DH's chemo for cancer in 99. He is also very sweet and feels bad about it, he gives me all the shots and mixed al the meds and kept track of everything. We paid around $12000 for IVF here in California :( no insurance either! I am so sorry to hear about your work struggles, my gosh! I can't believe how they treated you after so many years. I am so glad you are doing such nice things and helping some very special souls, hopefully this will bring you good karma and your BFP!!! When do you start stimming?

Margi - I am sure your labs are going to come back as good as those of a 25 year old! :)Image

Tammy - great news on follies! This is a lucky cycle! Great luck with ER and can't wait to hear about how many eggs you got! Super baby dust! Stay safe!Image

Kynlee - how are things progressing with you? Another fresh cycle?

Hi guys -

Had my first "stick and stir" appointment. I love this appreviation! cant stop using it :) It went well. The doctor didnt go into detail - just said "you are progressing like last time". Last time i had a small group of lead follicles and a larger group of slower follicles. i think the lead follicles ended up "overripening" by the retrieval time, by i ended up with 8 embryos anyways. So, they adjusted my meds mix (menopur up and follistim down) and told me that my retrieval is probably going to take place in the middle/2nd half of next week. Very exciting! they are keeping my total med dosage lower this time (follistim + menopur) to avoid my estrogen getting too high like last time.

So a little early to say how this lupron cycle compares to my antagonist cycle - will have to wait and see!

just a quick update: went to the clinic for echo and blood test. The number of follicles is not really improved much with the new protocol. 9 follies, 3 in left and 6 on right. Feel pains in my lower legs but don’t know why.

Looks like everyone is moving along nicely and a lot have their ER/ET dates planned. So exciting!! Looking forward to seeing lots of BFP's around here!

So my ET is tomorrow. And I'm so BLOATED! omg. I most likely don't have OHSS since I have had absolutely no weight gain or no problems breathing. My E2 was just below 3000 when they triggered me, too. But.. my stomach is so distended! It only got like this over the course of the last 48 hours or so. Husby and I went on a 4AM emergency run to the supermarket to pick up bottles and bottles of gatorade for me because I was freaking myself out. I've been trying to chug on those every chance I get even though I really don't like the taste (I got the low calorie one with the same sodium content). Is this bloating feeling normal? I talked to my nurse earlier today and she isn't concerned, but I kind of am! This won't affect the implantation in any way, would it?

Everyone who asked, we're planning on transferring 2 blasts tomorrow albeit my RE was really encouraging for us to transfer 1 since they're of excellent quality. However, we don't want to take any chances of it not working.

Hi Ladies,

Thank you so much for all the kind words & hugs. I really needed them. They made me feel sooo much better. :) I had to laugh at myself yesterday. My mind was so messed up because of the news I was pulling out of my driveway & I rammed into our garbage can. Papers everywhere! The neighbors probably think I'm drinking! :)

Kat - Glad to hear you are going to give it another try. I know what you mean about wanting to get back to normal life too. I have to say this bit of normalcy feels good. Now I just wish my rotten visitor would come. How did your appt. go? Were they able to tell you what they felt went wrong? My appt. is on 2/7. I have a lot of ?'s.

Leora - Cool web site. Thanks for passing on. Your hub is awesome! A 1/2 Bday. How sweet! Congrats on stimming! I know this will the one for you!! BTW I am a July baby too. July 20th.

LynnieCat - So very sorry about the empty follies. Hugs!

Tiger - How are you feeling? Are you enjoying being PUPO?

Lauren - Sorry you had to switch to IUI. I hope you get some answers at your appt. Hope you get that BFP!

Sunshine12 - Hope you are feeling better. Good luck on your ER on Sat. :)

Tammy - Good luck with the ER on Thursday! :) Hope you are feeling well.

So I have ?'s What does SnS stand for? And can anyone tell me how long it will take for AF to come after having taken Progesterone supposotories? And can you do IUI right after an IVF cycle? We are thinking of doing that but don't know if that's a bad idea. I will talk to my doctor on Monday, but just wondering if anyone out there has any opinion?

For everyone in the storm hope you home & safe & sound. Snow days are awesome, but I sure would rather be in CA! :)

Have a great night everyone! Grow Follies grow!! We need lot of BFPs! Rooting for you PUPO ladies!
