Kimberly, thank you very much for your information (dumb Q: What is an RE? Reproductive expert? I see the term a lot on the boards)...
And congratulations on your babies! They sound like a joy...

Best with Bodie...if he's not only spitting up (which could mean you'd have to get his heart checked too), and if he is freezing up, have you had him checked for epilepsy? Do his eyes focus and does he space out when he freezes up? I agree with you that you need to get as many doctors as possible involved for the poor little boy...

Hopefully it is a 'stage' but it must be hard to not have the answers!

Best of luck to you all

Hey Woodcliff~ ALright, I think I'm an idiot! Seriously, I always thought RE here on the web site has meant just the same as Doctor. Plain old simple DR. I guess it could be what you suggested but now I'm confused as well. I meant Doctor????? Maybe someone else will tell us both!

As far as Bodie goes, my Pediatrician called a Pediatric gastro something Doctor and they both strongly believe it is reflux. He still focuses and can be comforted but he is just uncomfortable and can't find relief. I guess the meds can take up to 10 days to work so we are going to try something in the meantime that coats his tummy and throat to ease his discomfort. I hope it works. The little guy has the BIGGEST grin ever and is sucha sweet baby. It jsut makes me feel bad that Idon't know what will help him. Keep your fingers crossed!

RE stands for reproductive endocrinologist, i.e. fertility doctor.

Woodcliff- I had a peri and an ob because I had identical twins. With ID twins, there is a risk of twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which can be deadly for the babies. I saw the peri every 3 weeks for a level 2 sono, until the very end when my blood pressure went up. Then I saw my OB every Monday and the peri every Thursday.

With a regular twin pregnancy with no problems or complications, I don't think you really need a peri. They are only needed for high risk pregnancies.

Kholtan- Nicholas has reflux and has been on Prilosec for months. It has made a huge difference. He is now such a happy baby and I no longer dread feeding him.

Kholtan...awwww, I'll think good thoughts toward Bodie...it's awful for an adult to have reflux, must just baffle the poor little baby! You sound like you have such great medical care...best to you!

Laura, thank you...I never would've guessed that was what RE meant! And also thank you re: the peri advice...and congratulations on your identical twins! So many positive stories on this board...

Happy Holidays to you all...stay in good health with you and your babies!

LauraLou~ Were your little guys symptoms the same as Bodies'? Getting stiff as a board, putting his head back, straining, eating a little but often, just plain uncomfortable, hard to stay asleep long? Just curious. How long did it take to get the meds to start working? My Dr. said it can take up to 10 days! YIKES!

Thanks for the input! You have given me great hope for my little fella!

take care~

Yes, he would get stiff and move his head around to avoid the bottle. He also spit up a lot. He was so unhappy. He would cry and cry and nothing seemed to help. It took about a week for the Prilosec to completely kick in but I noticed a difference after a couple of days. We tried Zantac first but that didn't work. Prilosec is a compound that has to be made at a special compounding pharmacy, but it's worth the effect to get it as it works so well.

Wow, ladies, busy day! :)

Okay, where to start!?

Woodcliff, congratulations! I, too, have boy girl twins and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! THey are so much fun right now! You're at a fun point in pregnancy, too...the 2nd trimester is delightful. I hope you're feeling that way! I did not have a peri. My pregnancy was pretty uneventful until I got pre-eclampsia at 36+weeks. (Although, I do know my OB consulted with the peri they work with to confirm that I was ready to deliver. I just never met him.) I do know a gal who had identicals, like Laura, and saw a peri due to the twin-twin transfusion issue. Oh, just to warn you--prepare yourself for some ignorant people--they WILL ask, "Are your twins identical?"--and yes, you'll have to point out that one of them has a "water spicket" (that's what my dad says!). Yeah, I've heard that there are a few boy/girl identical twins in the world, but seriously--you'll hear that question SOOOO many times! :D

Kholtan--Oh, how I wish you would have delivered before me! You are very inspiring with the bfing. When I was going through all that pain you could have cheered me through! (I know you did, but you know, I could have used your "expertise"!) I, too, thought bottles were a pain in the butt....but when your nipples are on fire all day long, you just give in! I can't believe yours are already too long for the pillow! Do you have the EZ2nurse one? I still have mine, but I guess I should find a new home for it, huh? My tata's are no longer functioning, but still overflowing in girth! ha ha! [By the way--I've seen pics of ladies tandem feeding 2 year olds...no joke...freaked me out a bit! They had to criss cross, but it worked for her!] As for rolling over, don't freak. Every baby does it in their own good time. For instance, yes, braeden did it really early (but like I said, he was just pissed off enough and figured it out). Ellie took much longer. BUT, now, she's rolling both ways and he's not. They'll do it when they're ready. Mine used to hate tummy time too, but I was a stickler and would make them get on their tummies several times a day. They need it to build back strength. I don't know the average "range" for rolling over, but as with everything, I'm sure it varies. Your pediatrician will check for these milestones at each visit. By the way, does your ped always do their growth charts with their actual age or corrected age for being early? If he goes with corrected, then yours would be around 10 weeks, which I'm sure is still fine that they haven't flipped yet. I thought of you when I was getting my hair done tonight (long appt--color and cut!). I can't fathom taking the babies there. Good for you! By the way, we need a more recent pic! Do you have one with SAnta? [Oh, one more thing...have you tried swaddling Bodie? It might be worth a try since he's so uncomfortable. Maybe you already have...]

Laura--I totally agree! Braeden actually kindof "hugged" me last night, and I just melted! He's trying to kiss me too...of course it's just open-mouthed and slobbery. Good luck with the tubes. My teaching partner's daughter just got them, and she's been doctor visit free for a month! Yeah! It really made a big difference for her. Keep us posted. My boy is a lightweight too...I'm sure they'll be fine. I bet once they feel better, their weight will go up. It's gotta be hard to eat when you hurt.

Malinka--Yeah, the twins are home together! Good luck! Sleep tight!

Have a good night gals...I'm off to bed...rough day at work today, and there's not enough wine in the world to fix it. Although I will try!

Hey everyone!

We are all tucked in for the night so I thought I would quickly type and head to sleep myself. Dh is gone snowmobiling for two days (Jelous!) and the babies and I were entertaining my girlfriends tonight. WHat fun they have being tossed around now! Poor friends had to partake in bath time and the bedtime routine. Nice to have so much help but sure doesn't explain why they got to bed and hour late??? :?

Thanks everyone for all the help and suggestions! He has been happier today then yesterday which is a relief. Time will tell. . .tick, tock. . .

Kim~ The salon will soon be a thing of the past but for now it's always been easy. I go on a day were they are actually closed other than the two girls who are there making extra money. She is actually my nephews mother and so I get that perk but it's also because I wouldn't have the fumes for myself while pg or the babies. Lucky for me for now!
That's great you still have the faux boob job! I grew too. . .to a B cup! I was robbed!!!!! The pain has been bad in the past but I had my own cheerleaders letting me know it would go away soon. You did a great job and put in some fabulous effort.
I'm not sure about our Pediatrician and what he mesure??? I'm sure he said but I can't recall now. I know that they are itty bitty things even at their 10.5 lbs. but theya re growing at a good rate and even have rolls!!! It's so cute!!! I'll post new pics asap! The Santa ones aren't great but I do have some cute ones from the other day!

Better get to bed or I'll be up before I fall asleep!
Take care everyone!

Hey everyone, I hope all is well. I have a question, is there a chart that shows where you should be measurment wise for the week your in.

Example: When my DW and I went in for our 8 week scan, the babies both measured 2.03 cm. I was at Barnes and Noble nosing through a book that said that twins are usually 4 cm by then. Is there a chart of somesort that show this.

Thank...and Happy Holidays to all

vickersx3~ Sorry I can't be amuch help to you but I will say that if your OB or RE aren't worried then you shouldn't ne either. Also remember that those measurements can have a large range of error. You can always call your DR. if you feel the need to. Good luck to you and I hope all is well. I wouldn't worry but that is easier said than done.

We are off to see a specialist today. My Ped. thinks he would rather be safe than sorry and I agree. Bodie had a pretty good night and evening but since a lot of Dr.'s take the holiday off my Ped. wanted me to see him since it would be a week or more before I could have the chance again. AM I being too neurotic? Be honest. I need someone to tell me if I am. Either way I'll report back when we get home.

Anyone planning on having more children who already have twins? Just curious. We had to pay to freeze our embies this month and I was just curious.

Take care~

Woodcliff, congrats on your b/g twins!
I also had an uneventful pregnancy till I developed cholestasis of pregnancy around 35 weeks.
I didn't see peri , but I had us every month and us tech would just carry growth results to my Peri and come back with his feedback to me. So it wasn't face to face visits, but he was supervising I guess. I tried to set up an appt with him once, just because I decided that I need to be seen by as many doctors lol as possible, but the nurse at my Peri office said, no, if you are fine and have no health changes in your pregnancy , Peri won't see you. However when I called at 36 weeks and told him I have a cholestasis of pregnancy they were able to make an appt with me in 2 days, and provide a phone consulation the same day.

The only advice I can give you, speaking from a my own experience, DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL YOUR OB IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. BE PERSISTANT. Unfortunatelly, most obs tend to disregard our concerns, if they think we have an univentful pregnancies and treat us as none different then singleton pregnancies.

My 1st night with twins was ok, I thought It would be worse

Kimberly you are not being neurotic, you are being a good mom. Indeed with all those holidays coming it would be hard to help lil Bodie . I wouldve not taking any chances as well. Please let us know what the docs say. HOpe everything will be fine.

And thank you Buckeye for the congrats...I look forward to the b/g twins, who have JUSt started fluttering around, my hubbie felt one this morning and that was a real moment to remember!

Kimberly, you're being responsible, NOT neurotic...and your doctor is listening so that is good...best of luck with Bodie.

Well, we have returned and it turns out the little man does NOT have reflux. WHEW! He still has thrush from the antibiotic he was taking for the ear infection before. My Pediatrician was right a few weeks ago when he said he thought that is what happened but he didn't respond at all to that med so he thought he was wrong. That is how we ended up down another road. The specialist today said I should see relief by Sunday night or Monday morning. WHOOHOO! He also eased my guilt over the many Dr. visits. He practically promised my son would be back by X-mas!
:D

I better run while they are in the last nap of the day and get something done. I think I'll do it with wine!!!!! :D :D :D Big sigh of relief here!

Malinka~ Glad to hear your night went well. Isn't it sweet to see them there together sleeping? Makes the insomnia well worth it!

Have a WONDERFUL night everyone!

Take care~

Kimberly--glad it's not reflux! So, it's thrush? Good luck. I hope Bodie heals up fast for you now! [And by the way, you are NOT neurotic. You are a mom. That's what we do nowdays!?] I think it's funny that having two girlfriends helping actually took an hour extra for bathtime! SEe, we twin mommies have learned to be VERY efficient, huh? :) As for your salon, that is a GREAT situation to have! As for the BB's...I started off as a B/C and went to a D! YIKES! Now, I'm back to a busty C, but they still look ginormous to me. I've lost most of my baby weight, but due to the tata's, most of my shirts still don't fit right. As for future babes....we weren't able to freeze any embies. Out of 10 eggs, only 6 fertilized. Of those 6, only 4 made it to day 2. Only 3 made it to day 3. We ended up putting all three back in (they said the third probably wouldn't do well with being frozen)...and we have our twins to show for it! SO, I CAN say that we won't go through IVF again. BUT, we haven't entirely ruled out future bambino's that come from a flippin' miracle! Of course, there are many many days when we look at our beautiful healthy babies and say, "How could we possibly ask God for anything more?". So, to answer your question--probably no more for us, unless some freakish accident happens! And at the rate I'm interested in sex....HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! PRobably won't be happening anytime soon!

vickersx3--congrats! I wouldn't worry at all about the measurements. Your doctor will be keeping a very close eye on them, so I'm sure s/he would let you know if there was a concern about size. Just enjoy this magical ride you've just gotten on! It goes by soooo fast!

Malinka--glad your first night went pretty well! Hope tonight's just as good! Do you have them sleeping in your room? If not, are you constantly peeking in on them? ( I remember doing that many nights!) Do you have any help right now?

We are good. Today was my last day of work before break. THANK GOD! Now, I just have mommy job for 2 weeks. The babies are doing great with feeding time--it's getting much easier. BAd news, though...Braeden has managed to catch aNOTHER cold! ugh. I'm going tto try and find this snot sucker thing my friend recommended. It's from Europe, I think? She says it's marvelous...much better than an aspirator?

I"m off. Have a good night!

Kholtan--enjoy your time with dH away--at least one less person to help take care of, right?

hi girls,
Kimberly I am glad it is not a reflux, what a relief!!!

Kim, no , they are in a nursery, across from our bedroom, yea, I am pretty much up every two hours just to pick on them. Honestly, I can't hold my tears back when I see them in their pack and play, and I thank G-d everytime for sending me such a gift.
I also hired a live in nanny, we will see how it works. So far she is a tremendous helper.

Sorry about your embies, maybe future will bring in a surprise for you if you are ready:)
