Hi All –

My bw was good, lining good, they are increasing my menopur to 375. I did some research today and it seems like its ok. Thanks to Dixie Chops question about when do I find out if the increased menopur worked, I called the doc and left a message. I want to know if they think it’s working and if not, will the change the meds. All that I’ve read says that 8 – 10 follies are on the low end of normal.

dixie_chop: you should ask your doc, but I think you can give an IM in the thigh if there’s no one to give it in the rear. Good idea to make the decision before the hormone levels escalate more. I may have to take that advice.

mom2luke: thanks for the encouragement. I started getting concerned b/c, I’ve had 3 ultrasounds. I’ve been stimming for a week now. However, my center does do batch cycling and they predicted that ER would be 4/26 – 5/2. I might be on track.

Good Luck Everyone…If you get a chance, post where are you are in your cycle. I’m trying to figure out where everyone is…

Well I finally started the injections! Day 2 of Lupron was a success. It really isnt too bad! I dont look when DH is injecting though. No real side effects yet, thank god! Will go for US, suppression check in two weeks!

In other news, someone from the clinic called me today and said that I have to bring payment of 8+K at my next appointment to cover all the expenses. I was like, WTF? I thought my insurance covered 90% of it and I called multiple times to verify that. Well the lady didnt know much and said that the pre-authorization dept will call me tomorrow. This totally ruined my night! Now I have no clue whether or not insurance will cover the procedures. And I already started the cycle which makes it that much worse! Argh, DH says not to worry, that there was probably a mistake, but it still stresses me out! And I have an exam tomorrow morning and Im having such a hard time concentrating. :( :x

Anyone else doing Lupron right now? Seems a lot of you ladies are way ahead of me. :)

Med Student Mom 2 Be: I too am paying for my IVF. My insurance covers fertility testing but not treatment. If you haven't done so already, you should ask your center for any other costs that you may incur so you're not suprised later. My center gives a sheet with all potential costs. They may not have charged you up front for blastocys (sp?), ixci, freezing, etc... Good Luck.

SarahD - I took my last BC on Wednesday, so this is the second day w/o. Just waiting on AF so that I can go in for my US and BW. They are calc that will be on Monday. Monday they will determine my ER and ET dates.
When do they start you on menopur?

Eve 2860-Congfrats on AF!

medstudentmom2b - I know how stressful the money part is. My husband and I also have no coverage like saraD was saying. We had to pay $20k up front before they would start anything. And then we were hit with a $2 pharm bill. it is so stressful. keep us updated on what you find out...

Kelly

Hi everyone,
Dixie-Chop, Hoping AF will come shortly.
The financial part is allways the hardest. Here in spain there is a two year waiting list for social security to pay for FIV and no insurence covers it.Insurence only covers the blood work. We have to pay up front as a deposit 3,500 euros and the remainder at the end about another 2,500€ The medicine is 1,800€ a total of 6,000 euros. I pray that it works or that I be able to freeze eggs to try again. i think instead of looking at the cost one has to think its worth it and hopefully everything will work.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Wishing everyone only good things.
Have a wonderful weekend

hey all--we,too, know the financial strain of all of this. we are self pay and it is very hard...we have cleared out our savings and checking accounts and often wonder if we have made the right decision financially. but when we get to hold our child/children i know it is the right decision!!

had my Er today. went way better then i thought. moderate cramping but nothing extra strength tylenol can't help. they retrieved 10 eggs and will perform ICSI with them. we will find out in a couple of days when transfer will be. so techinically i'm in the 2 week wait which is an awesome feeling! even better when i get the BFP!!

GL to everyone with the upcoming ER's>

Hi All -

Mom2luke: congrats on your ER, great that it went well. I’m so anxious to find out when my ER is. 10 eggs seems what I have as well and my doc was already recommending ICSI. Did they tell you how large they were? Keep us posted on the progress this weekend. Will they call you with updates? I’m so curious about the these next steps.

Eve2860: The shots aren’t bad at all. My menopur is IM. We went to the med class and watched a video. The best thing we learned is that you should stand “pigeon toed” (not sure if that is an American term only) and knees slightly bent. It relaxes your muscles.

Dixie_chop – should I just call you Kelly? I started the menopur the day of the suppression check. They say not every gets a period after the BC. I think I was off the BC for a week before going in for the suppression check. By that time AF had come… and it’s the one time you’re sooo happy to get it.
Anyone else have ER yet?

SarahD - When do you stop your BC?

I started to get crampy yesterday and this morning seems to be worse. When I woke up this morning and went to the bathroom, I am started to spot. I usually do that for a day before AF, but that may be different since I was on BC. I am hoping that it holds out for tomorrow so my ET can get pushed to after the 11th when the DH gets home. So backwards from everyone else here pushing their dates up. :-) I would be doing the same if he was home. So it looks like, I will be in for my US and BW on monday!!!

Hi all, just a quick update. They called me back to the clinic for E2 check and an ultrasound this morning. Tonight is my last night on stims and then we do the hcg shots tomorrow night. ER is now officially scheduled for Tuesday! They think I'll have at least 8 mature eggs, maybe more by then, so we're being cautiously hopeful at this point. This puts ET on Friday or Sunday. Eeek!

Does anyone know what to do with leftover medicine??? I have about $1200 worth of Follistum that I apparently won't need. They ordered me what they thought was 11 days worth, but I only did 7 days of stims (most at a low dose), so I have a lot left over. It feels like having gold in the refridgerator...

Mom2luke: congrats on the 10 fertilized. Keep positive now. What meds do they have you on?

Statsgoddess: Good luck on your ER. How big were your follies today? My center says hold the drugs until confirmed pregnancy. My center takes opened packages to use for the injection class. I read online someplace that there are some areas that take unopened packages to give to people who cannot afford.
