Hi Ladies, happy Saturday!

Good news Rittie, glad to see all is well. Your Dr sounds very good and sympathetic to your symptoms. You asked about maternity leave.....my Dr recommended that I stop work about a month before my due date, so that's 9th March. This is a Friday so will probably do that. My headteacher is being fine about it and just said to let her know. I suppose it really depends on how things go.....watch this space. :D

Hope everyone else Ok and enjoying the weekend
Take care all
Hugs

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and enjoying their pregnancies. I can´t believe I am almost 24 weeks along! Things have been going well for me other than that for about the last two weeks, I had EXCRUCIATING pain in my rib area (right under my bra line on the right side). It hurt so much that I would whimper at night whenever I tried to move. I saw various explanations on the internet - muscles separating, ribs expanding - but it hurt so badly I didn´t want to move a lot of the time. Fortunately, within the past few days, is seems to have eased up significantly. Has anyone else been having any pain in that area?
I am getting settled here in Brazil, where I will be for work for the next 2 years. I love it here but the heat doesn´t go too well with being pregnant. Oh, and I went to see an OB here (who I quickly thereafter fired) and all he could talk about was how I must have been eating like a pig to have gained 35 pounds already, how I would end up with stretch marks and cellulite everywhere and would never be able to hang on to DH since there are 1.2 women for every man in my age group (honestly, he said this!!) and that he would FINE me if I kept gaining weight like this. Fortunately, the next MD I saw was a wonderful woman who I loved and who told me that since I am still UNDER the normal weight for someone my height at 24 weeks, there is nothing to worry about as far as weight goes. I know Brazilians are focused on appearance and all, but this guy was just too much!
Well, hope everyone is continuing to do well and look forward to updates. No more scheduled scans for me at this point - just monthly office visits.

Hi Claudia,

Most interesting story about the Brazilian OB and how unprofessional and RUDE. Glad you got over that quickly and found yourself a new doctor that you like. Good luck with her. Hope you'll be very happy with your care and new life.

All the best

Riley, I hope you are feeling better. Things here are fine, and I am slowly recovering from my cold (and my in-laws super long visit).

Anna and Rittie, glad things are going well for you both. Other than the usual aches and pains, it sounds like things are smooth. Rittie, I can't believe that people are just now noticing you are pregnant! I just looked fluffy for awhile, but now I have a nice round belly, and I am just cooking 1 in there!

Claudia, I litterally could not believe what you said about that doctor in Brazil. It is crazy how different things can be in different cultures. My neighbor is from Brazil and I hear stories often, so I look forward to sharing yours with him.

As for me, I am doing well. I have felt a bit like I have been back in the first trimester with my sleepiness/laziness. I am sleeping like 9-10 hours a night (with bathroom breaks of course) and when I wake, I still want more sleep. We have been working on the nursery since we got some things for the baby for Christmas. It feels so real now that the room is coming along! I had an appointment at the midwife last Friday and all is well. Normal heartbeat (yay!), normal weight, and normal BP. I don't go back for a month, which disappointed me. After that though I will start going more often.

I hope everything keeps moving along nicely for you all. Take care!

Hi ladies,

Claudia- I cannot believe what a moron that dr was!! What an idiot!! I am glad you found one you like though. I wonder how many patients that man actually retains? Their culture must be messed up if he has very many.

Lucy- I am feeling better. I just have a cough keeping up now along with the bathroom breaks. I need to get started on the nursery. I am jealous you are ahead of me. I was all ready to get going on that after christmas, and then got sick and haven't wanted to do anything.

I had a glucose test last week and was nervous cause a have a family history and I am overwieght. But I talked to the dr's office today and they said my blood is normal, so no gestational diabetes.

Anna- I am jealous you are leaving a month early. I don't have to move around alot at my job, but I just want to be done so bad, cause it is so boring sitting here alone all day in my office. I am not returning after words, so I am ready to be done now, but need that insurance and maternity leave, so I am stuck! I'll be working up to the day if I stay healthy.

Hope you are all doing well!

Rude doctors and nursery building going on. We are having babies!
I too finally made a move over the weekend and ordered my cribs, mattresses, and changing table. Still looking for the right stroller which is a more daunting task than I expected. Very few infant twin travel systems to choose from in stores and the shipping on line will break you.
Don't know about you ladies, but I am really beginning to struggle with back pain. In fact, after my shopping / dinner trip on Saturday, I was stricken to the bed with pain. This went on all day yesterday and has bled over into today. In fact, I missed work today due to discomfort. Going to be a long 4 more months...
In other and more exciting news, I have been feeling both babies moving for about two weeks now. The one who was very still and quiet has taken over as the active one. They never get going at the same time so I can distincly feel two separate boys, kicking and having a good time. DH and DD have both been able to feel baby A and now it is more real to them. I like to just sit and watch my belly move and smile (and dream about them, of course).
Try to stay healthy, all. It's that time of year and none of us need it. Take care of yourselves and your bumps and I'll chat with you soon.

Hi Ladies, hope everyone Ok today

Claudia, sorry to see you have had so much pain. Hopefully it has subsided now. Strange about that OB.....there are some funny people in this world!! Good to see you gave him the elbow and met a decent MD.

Lucy, glad the cold is getting better. Most people I know have been struck by this over the last few weeks. Good to see all is well with the bump. I wish I was as organised as you about getting the nursery ready, we haven't done a thing yet!

Rileydee, bump buddy, good news about the glucose test. With regards to maternity leave I shall stay at work as long as possible if I continue to feel Ok.

Dione, hello, another person who is organised....I look through the catalogues and find it very difficult to make any decisions on what to buy, there is far too much choice, well done for ordering your stuff! Hope the back pain resolves itself, doesn't sound like fun at all :( Like you I love to sit and watch my belly move, it makes me smile!!

Hello Ladies, where is everyone? It's very quiet here this week!!!

Just popped in to say hello. DP and I went shopping for the first time yesterday looking at prams, cots, car seat etc..... wow, it's a whole new world. Soooo much choice, we were quite overwhelmed at first. We eventually found a very helpful assistant who seemed to know what she was talking about, listened to our questions and helped us make some preliminary decisions. How do you ladies do it so effortlessly? I felt like a child on its first day at school with no idea what to do! I couldn't even fold up a pram properly after 3 demonstrations...I was so slow....HELP!!!!

Anyone got appointments this week? If so good luck and keep us posted.

We have an appointment on Tuesday, just a check up , no scan. Hopefully all will be well.

Take care all

Hi Anna, Hi everyone,

We went shopping this week as well. We've now decided on the colour and theme of the nursery. Chosen the Cot beds, the dresser and will probably buy a change station. I can see the room the way we want it done now. Its a shame the sale for baby furniture and stuff are not that great, we probably will save 10%, but thats better than nothing I guess. So we'll be ordering the furniture shortly. We've also chosen the pram - the choices for good quality twin prams are very limited and definitely aren't in the sale. My darling sister had decided to give us the pram as a present for the babies which we are so grateful for, as thats more than £600 including the car seats.

We had planned to build an extra room Loft conversion and although we signed the contract with the builder in October and they had promised that they will complete the building work as close to end of Jan as possible, we are still waiting for a start date. This is getting me very upset. The project manager is coming to see me finally on Monday and I am starting to practice deep breathing today to not just team him apart when I see him. I now hope that they'll be able to complete by end of Feb. And fingers crossed that the twins don't come too early, we'll be ok.

Went to see the physio about getting ache and numbness in my legs when I sleep. She said she can't detect anything untoward and gave me a body stocking to wear for extra support and a bump belt to wear for when standing or walking longer periods. All very practical but so ugly... wonder how all these celebrities can walk around with their bumps hanging out with no support whatsoever... hmmmm

I am a bit down because of the stupid builders (oh and we showed up for ante-natal class but they couldn't find our names and sent us away) but am cheered up by the nursery plans. Guess its going to be a busy week sorting things out. Hope everyone's well.

Rittie

Hi Everyone,

Not much happening here. I started back to school last week and I will be volunteering over the next 10 weeks at a Hispanic Center where most people do not speak English. I don't know if I mentioned it before but I am attending classes to get my teaching license so I can teach elementary kids. We are required to spend one semester working with people of a different culture than our own to experience what it is like to be a minority. It will be a great experience, but I am so nervous!

Anna, I understand what you mean by being overwhelmed by all of the baby stuff. That is why I got started early, because I needed time to do my research. I think the best thing to do is to go with your gut and try not to look back on any decisions. If you see something you like, go for it. I dwell on things and shop around so long that I confuse myself usually. After doing that for awhile, I realized that I can't be stressing about crazy thing like that! Just pick one, and move on! The internet is a great way to read about reviews on items as well, so I could pick out some of the items that other ladies have used and liked. Good luck to you!

Rittie, I am sorry about your discomfort and I hope your bump belt helps. I can't imagine how crazy things must be with you hoping to get the remodeling project done. I really hope they get started soon. Try to relax and hopefully everything will fall into place. Good luck!

I have to admit that I am getting nervous about the whole birthing process. This is something we have dreamt of for years but the birthing process has been blocked out of my mind all of this time. Now it is just weeks away and I can't imagine how this beautiful little girl will come from inside of me and end up in my arms.

I hope you all have a good week! Anna, good luck at your appointment, let us know how it goes. Hi to all of you quiet ladies out there too. I hope things are going smoothly.

Hi Everyone! Sorry it's been so long. I was having some computer difficulties for awhile.

Hubby and I got the big news right before Christmas--we are having twin boys!!!! I had an appointment with my regular OB yesterday and they were looking good. Today I meet with the peri and we should get some 3D ultrasound pics.

I'm really big for 21 weeks, and my back has been killing me too. It's hard to sleep at night, but I'm always tired.

In the few spurts of energy I've had, I've gone shopping with Hubby to pick out baby stuff. We have the stroller, car seats, cribs, and bedding. We've been very productive! It was hard to choose at first, but I spent a lot of time researching on the Internet. My docs all recommended that I buy sooner than later because I won't be very mobile for long evidently. It has been harder for me to be up and about for long periods of time, and I too have had a hard time breathing. I won't feel like shopping once I get really big!

Hi Ladies, happy Sunday! Hope everyone enjoying their weekend.

Emmie, many congrats on your boys. Have you decided on any names yet? Hope the back eases up and you can sleep a little better.

Lucy, I read your post with great interest regarding the experience of being in a minority before you can get your teaching license. Wow... nothing like that happens in the UK. Hope it goes well. I bet it will be a very interesting and rewarding time. Good luck.

Rittie, you sound busy. How is it going with the body stocking....... has it helped at all? How disappointing about the antenatal class, have you rebooked? Hope the builders have got their act together and things are looking up for you. Keep smiling, sending you some PMA through this trying time :)

As for us, we had an appointment last Tuesday with the consultant. All went well. Everything was as it should be, urine, BP, bloods, measurement of uterus etc.... My only symptom is my very swollen ankles which no-one seems worried about. It just meant that I had to ditch my boots and buy some shoes! Glad to report that I feel fine and friends comment on how I am 'blooming'. Fingers crossed that it continues like this. Off on a conference next week, so I'll say bye for now and 'see' you all soon.

Good luck to all with appointments and scans this week

Hi ladies,

Anna, I'm glad to hear everything is well. I'm beginning with the swollen ankles also. I had an appointment last week 1st thing in the morning and everything was ok, but my bp was 140/80. I thought this was high, but the nurse said, its a little high, but its ok. I can't believe we have 70 + days of this with everyday getting more uncomfortable.

Rittie, I hope you are able to find some relief. I hate contractors. We just had a front door and storm door installed by Lowes. You would think that was a simple thing, but no. When they installed it, the door handles were hitting each other and the storm door wouldn't shut. It took us so long to get them out to fix it after being on the phone with them constantly promising to be there and not showing up. DH is a great carpenter and is learning alot about other stuff. He used to build custom homes, so we've decided we are never hiring anyone to do anything again. He will just do it. I know that probably won't really happen, but man, what a bad experience.

Emmie, congrats on your boys! I hope you can find some relief from the back pain.

Lucy, good luck with school. I'm sure you'll do great. I'm getting nervous too. I got set up for childbirth classes beginning the 1st week of march, so maybe knowlege will make me feel better.

Hello my Big Belly Friends!

How is everyone feeling? We are fine, just growing and staying busy. My little girl has been very active lately. At night my stomach starts moving in all directions and we just sit and stare in amazement.

My new volunteer work began last week and it is going well. Oh, and my husband and I took and all day childbirth prep class this past Saturday. It wasn't so much on breathing techniques as it was on what to expect. It went really well and was very interesting. We watched 3 different births (something I really didn't want to do) and got a lot out of it. I still can't believe she is coming out that way!

Anna, I have to tell you (and all of you ladies) about this shirt I bought. You mentioned that people commented on how you are "blooming" and there is a woman that went to my clinic that started up a maternity tee shirt business online. She has a shirt that says "In Bloom" and I ordered one not too long ago! I get so many comments on how cute it is. The place is called maternity in bloom. Let me know if you or anyone else wants more detailed info through personal email. I hope you trip goes well, traveling and pregnancy aren't always a fun mix.

Emmie, congrats on the boys! Do you have any names? Does anyone have any names picked out yet?

Rileydee, I hope your blood pressure stays put. They say it starts to climb up in the 3rd trimester. I sure hope it doesn't climb too high!

Everyone have a great week and take care of those bellies.

Hello ladies! Glad to see everyone is uneventful and planning out the details at this point. I can't believe that no one is having any issues other than swollen ankles. How fortunate are we all?
Me and my boys are doing well. In fact, the past two weeks have been the best of my pregnancy. Back pain finally subsided and acid reflux / heartburn is under control (thank goodness for rolaids). Other than a heavy belly, I am feeling great! Had dr and u/s visits last week. The boys are 1 pound 11 ounces and 1.12, which they say is right on target. Only surprise was they are both now heads up. The doctor says not to worry, that they have plenty of time to turn.
DH wants to put the nursery furniture together this weekend. I guess since football has a break this weekend he wants to get it done before Superbowl next weekend. The cribs finally came in and we picked them up this weekend. The mattresses and changing table have been in the nursery for 2 weeks. It will be nice to see it out of the box. We bought the stroller and car seats last week, now I need to get started on the little details like lotions, body wash...hopefully I'll get tons at my shower.
We have lamaze coming the first 2 weekends in February. Also have DD signed up for a sibling class in March. February will be so busy with preparation that it will fly by!
26 weeks already...just around the corner. Can anyone believe it?
Have a great week!
