congratulations hopeful and sbr! wow, it's great to see all those BFN in these thread!
today is my 8th day post transfer of 3 day old embryo in 4 cell division.. i woke up early am with very soft stool, and 5 spots starting to erupt in my face.. i felt like AF is arriving, just tonite i have streaks of blood with progesterone gel after wiping. DH told me it's expected.. i hope my little emby make it.. i dont want to feel sad.. i want to stay positive during this 2ww.. somebody mention.. this is worst than the 2 weeks injection.. i agree with you! im too scared to do the POAS... though the clinic gave me two urine stick pregnancy test to be use on the early morning of 23rd of april.
hazel- hoping for your embies to grow and develop well!
babyluv- goodluck to your beta.. did you do another POAS.. per your question.. im in ireland.
wishful- we are just days apart for beta.. on first 2 days post transfer i felt my boobs a little bit tough, tight and sore but then the feelings are gone. im ravaging for food as well..
somebody mention about sex as well.. dont you feel like it? i felt it 10x more intense this time, RE said no intercourse during 2ww. DH have 2 spots in his face remember he got chiken pox last jan.. and the children he use to give lift have measles 4 weeks ago .. i hope those diseases keep away from us!
cymplicity- congrats on another good beta number...I am suprised at the long wait. I had my first u/s at around 6 weeks and then also almost every week after that. I actually saw my ob for the first time at 8 wks when I was still going to the clinic. I continued with the clinic until 12 wks, so I am suprised they are waiting until 9 wks...maybe they were booked solid? You will defnitely see the hb by then. It is still fine though, but I would go crazy for a month in between. That was the hardest part about going to only the ob, 4 wks in between appts when I was usued to them every week at the clinic.
mel- maybe I did rub off on you! Make sure you let us know when you poas again. It is still too early for you, but who cares about early...I love taking the hpt's. Maybe I like it so much because it is the only I get to do it and will be suprised by the outcome. It is impossible for us to get pregnant without ivf, so I never wonder if I am pregnant, so no need for hpt's any other time...so I guess I get my fill of them during cycle.
And the pregnancy hormones....they definitely revved me up! I wanted it all the time when I was pregnant! It was probably annoying to dh, don;t get me wrong, he enjoys it, but because of his low testosterone, his sex drive is naturally low, not like other guys who want it all the time. So our relationship is kinda backwards, I am the one who wants it a lot, and then when you add the pregnancy hormones in the equation...lol I remember after my c-sec, it killed me to have to wait 6 wks...of course I didn;t make it that long...lol
I think after IVF, we were told to wait until about 8 wks we were given the ok to do the "deed." But we waited longer, because we were too nervous, I think we waited until close to end of first trimester, just to be safe.

The nurse that called sounded really excited and actually said "congratulations" this time and didn't just throw out a number. With her being excited I felt like I can breath a little now. I figure if they are comfortable not seeing me for that long, I can be comfortable too.

1st IVF - 3/2009, ER - 3/26, ET - 3/29 BFP!!
babyluv- I am so sorry to hear your news. Age is on your side...and you can wait and try again in 6 months or you can talk to RE and start again as soon as possible. There are a couple of ladies here doing an FET a month after their BFN. Do you have any frozen embryos? I would definitely talk with your Dr about what he thinks you should do next. Just know that there are hundreds of stories here about women who were not so lucky on their first try, but have still had success. My thoughts are with you and dh right now.

Good afternoon everyone. Just wanted to update you - the clinic has told us that 5 of our 6 eggs are showing signs of fertilisation, so we are over the moon at the moment! ET is going to be Monday at 11.45am - we are going to call early Monday morning to find out what sort of quality the embies are so that we can decide how many to transfer. If there are any of really good quality, we will just transfer one, otherwise we will transfer two if the quality is less good.
Michele - I still can't get over the number of follies you're growing! How are you feeling - are you very uncomfortable? I'm looking forward to reading today's update from your frequent flyer programme visit! If they are still thinking ER on Tuesday then I guess that means trigger tomorrow night? Yes, they had me trigger when my follies reached about 20mm, but they had previously said that anything above 18mm was fine. And sorry to hear that they don't want you swimming for a couple of weeks, I know you really wanted to be in the pool with Ella for her lessons.
Sari - I'm so happy for you. What joy you must be feeling after a 15 year journey!
aims - hope DH is recovering nicely from his operation. Spotting every Tuesday, lol! At least it's predictable!
Melanie - pleased to hear that your bloods came back OK. As you said, not a biggie for the clinic to do it for you, but probably something which you would have been getting worried about otherwise! And I'm not sure that doing ER under a local was that big of a deal - I think the fear of the unknown was worse than the reality. At my clinic, they give you an injection of pethadine to 'relax' you (even though for me it did absolutely nothing) and then when you go in, they put a canula in your hand to give you antibiotics and in case they need to put you under (I HATE canulas!). So far as the actual anaesthetic is concerned, they use a speculum and 'wash' your cervix first (horrible sensation!) and then inject local anaesthetic around it. After that, you really feel nothing when they put the probe through your cervix - the actual retrieval bit for me wasn't too bad on the left ovary (just a bit of a tugging sensation) but I felt it a bit more on the right (sharpish pain when they pierced the ovary and collected each egg). But because I only had a small number of follies on either side, they were truly only in each ovary for about 2/3 minutes. On the upside, I was alert before during and after the operation so once I'd had a cup of tea, a biscuit and a wee, I was allowed to go straight home. And I didnt have the horrible 'getting-over-a-general-anaesthetic' feeling yesterday and today. In fact, I feel pretty good today, and now that I've found out that ET isn't going to be until Monday, I'm going to go out and play golf tomorrow!
tiffichels/Heather - welcome! You will love it here, this is such a wonderful thread. So what was your fertilisation report on Friday and did you have ET today or is it tomorrow?
faith - another hello! Re your cold symptoms, I wouldn't worry too much, but do take good care of yourself to get them to disappear as soon as you can. From what I know, it should have no affect at all on how you follies grow. I believe the only concern is giving you a general anaesthetic if you are full of flu, and you are a little way off that stage yet!
sbr - so happy to hear that you're on course for your FET. That's fantastic.
dys - can't wait to hear another BFP following your beta today! Then you can stop the HPT's, lol! Wouldn't it be fascinating to know what percentage of the HPT's sold all over the world are to ladies having IVF??? As a group, we seem to test WAY more than people in the outside non-IVF world...
Neffi - so sorry to hear that your HPT's aren't bringing good news, but you still have three days before beta. Fingers crossed...
Latino - hoping to hear great news from your beta yesterday...
Carolyn - hope you are managing to distract yourself in your 2ww. Have you been doing any more retail therapy?
babyluv - so sorry to hear your news. (((((((hugs)))))))
josee - good luck today at beta, I'm thinking of you!
Hopeful - congratulations! So you were another HPT girl, but did it on the sly! I swear, between us IVF ladies, we must single-handedly keep the HPT companies in business!
Trying - on the question of sex, the info sheet the clinic gave me said not to for the 2ww (even though there's apparently no scientific reason to say it makes a difference) and, if you get a BFP, they prefer you not to until you've had the first scan at 7 weeks. But unless you're planning to do it hanging from the chandalier, I honestly can't see the harm. Again, think how many women in the real world of non-IVF baby-making have sex after they have got pregnant but don't yet realise it!
sportsmom - so how did you get on at your first u/s and how many follies did they find?
estrellita - hurray, you're stimming! How are you finding it?
kline - keep the faith... As you'll have gathered by reading the thread, everyone's symptoms are different and mean different things, so your AF symptoms could really be anything.
Cynthia - you seem to have had great beta numbers but sorry to hear you've such a long wait until your first scan! How are you finding using the heating pad before injecting? Does it make a difference?
trx - how are you getting on with your stims? Am I right in thinking that you are due to have your ER middle of next week?
Whew, so many people to catch up on! Hope I caught most of you... Sorry to anyone I missed!
Take care,
Hazel

Wow Hazel...I think you might have gotten everyone!
Hazel- I am so happy to hear that 5 of 6 are fertilizing, that is awesome! And good for you for being able to get a round of golf in this weekend...hopefully you have nice weather there. I admire you for doing just local, I think with the number of eggies in me right now, they would be in each ovary for a while, and be poking a lot! I am actually not as uncomfortable as I had thought I would be. I remember this time last cycle, I was very uncomfortable, so I expected to be double uncomfortable with double the eggs, but I feel fine. I hope ER won't be double the pain...eeek!
oh, and what is a canula?
dys- Where are you? I can't wait to hear the good news, and I am curious to know your number...just a couple more weeks until we will be preggo together...then we will have to take a trip to babies r us...our how bout those pedicures we both deserve?
faith- I think a sore throat is fine. i know everyone wants to be 100% during this time, but people get sick all the time and ivf continues. I have had stuffiness and a sore throat through most of my stimming and RE is not concerned.
So I went this morning for another scan and bw, RE did it this time. There are a lot of eggs in there! He only had me right down the big ones, and there were probably 12-15 between 14mm and 18mm, and then there were about another 10 or so around 10mm. He said I do need one more day, so I will do one more stim injection tonight, a ganerelix in the morning and trigger tomorrow night. Retrieval will be on Tuesday, and transfer on Friday. I thought with how many eggs I have they would let them go until day 5, but he said they freeze on day 3, so transfer will be on Friday and they will freeze the rest. He reminded me not to worry, since I got pregnant on a 3 day transfer last time. I told him as much as I love him, I was happy not to have to make the drive for the next 2 days, since I have been there 6 days in a row already.
I am currently trying to coordinate dh's TESE. It needs to be on Monday, and of course the office is closed today and tomorrow, so I am going back and forth with the answering service and on call dr (who is not our dr). So hopefully we will know by tonight. My RE will also be calling by 6 tonight to tell me my dose for tonight and what time to do trigger tomorrow and what time to be there for retrieval on tuesday.
So I will check in later to see how everyone is, and to give a final update after RE calls later...I can't believe this week is finally here!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Of the 8 eggs we got on Thursday, 6 fertilized so we will be going in in the morning to insert 3 (might freeze the rest depending on condition). We'll be using Assisted Hatching this time since it will be our last try. I'm gonna move over to the 2ww board so I can vent appropriately. Good luck to all of you!!
