Congrats on the BFP Gina and Wonderce! So much is going on now I cant keep up.
NY I have been thinking of you. We live close (well sort of) and I was really praying for you that it would be your time.
Everyone else I am thinking and praying for you all!
DH had his TESA on thursday. Poor thing is swollen and bruised. Anyway the lab said they saw some sperm and it should be enough for the ICSI. I am praying! I was actually allowed to see the sperm under the microscope and boy those guys were swimming around. It was kinda funny cause I had to take the specimen to the RE's lab after the TESA and its about an hour and a half away so I drove with the vials shoved into my bra. The lab guy said they needed to be tucked in my shirt or pants to stay warm so I opted for my shirt. I was pulling the vials out in the lab and they didnt even blink an eye when I pulled the vials out of my bra! I guess they have seen it all.
ANyway I got my period today and spoke with RE. I will start baby aspirin tonight for my clotting disorder and go in tomorrow morning for my baseline BW and sono. They said if everything is ok I will start stims tomorrow. I told DH and he was like "away we go!"
Well wish me luck! :)

Gina Congrats on your beta. Its good to see it all confirmed and have you officially added to the BFP list!!!!!!

babyhopeSo now you are officially PUPO!!!! Sorry to hear about the quality but do you know most embies have some degree of fragmentation.... Thats totally normal and you have 2 8cell which is exactly where they should be so they sound perfect and i hope they snuggle in tight :)

Lady J Many people only put back 2 embies, so 2 fertilised will be no problem. I think we all start off thinking we will have lots to freeze and just keep doing FET's till it works. Didnt turn out that way for me either, so i feel your disappointment, but i'm happy you have a great PMA. Thats exactly what your embies will want when they are back inside - plenty og happy vibes :). as for the mood swings - I always find it hard to be rational when hyped up on hormones. I can go from sobbing wreck to screaming banshee is 10 seconds flat.

Jand C3 Sorry you are disappointed, but you do have some great results there!!! My RE said he generally wants to see 8 eggs. He considers that a good result ( i turned out to be a low responder, so now 4 is good for me) but the average is 8 so take heart!!!

Val It was good to hear from you. I hope you are taking care and i was only thinking about you the other day....

KarenHey cant wait to hear your new beta number!!! Your last one was so high - thats pretty exciting :)

Wishing 4 blessings Good to hear from you - its easy to stress out in the 2WW so keep in contact with us and we can (try) to keep you sane!

JDC Glad to hear you are still moving along.... just keep going....as we keep seeing, slow and steady = top quality eggs!!!

Prayin Ha!! good to see AF has appeared. Now you are ready to go and i wont be far behind you!!

And last but certainly not least......

To Have Fun OMG your thermometer man was right !!!!! This morning the temp in the car said it was 20 degrees outside!!!! I was freaking out and i even cried today(hormones) because the lady in Starbucks said it was only going to get colder from now on, so you really made me laugh with that!!!!! I showed DH and he said 'how did she know!!!!' Thanks for bringing a smile to my face :D

As for me, a few people have offered to donate a few vials here and there of menopur and we are going ahead with the cycle. I pay $65 per vial and last round i was shooting up 8 a day plus 300iu of follistim at over $200 a vial, so medication just cripples us. We used to have a thing called a 'savings account' and it used to have money for vacations, new car, lots of fun stuff. Now it is empty and has spider webs in it but oh well. I just hope this works!!!!

Thanks ladies for the quick replies and great stim drug tips!

I have learned so much from just reading this thread the past few weeks and it's helped so much to keep me sane throughout this process.

A believe that a 'savings account' is a special kind of bank account where fertile couples place their extra money instead of giving to their RE. Or so i've heard.....

Well, here I am awake at 4:30 am...I was dreaming last night of perfect quality embryos! Anyway I had a complete meltdown yestderday as the stress of work and the hormones and the crazy schedule of driving to the RE's everymorning has finally made me reach my breaking point. I did feel a lot better after a good cry though.

Thank you so much for all the encouragement I've received for my little follies....It really helps to keep the hope alive.

Karen - awesome beta!!!! How is pregnancy treating you? Loving every minute of it I'm sure! :D

Kas - You have sacraficed a lot for this, but when you finally have your baby in your arms, I'm sure it will all have been worth it. I know it may be easy for me to say....I am one of the very lucky ones as insurance covers most of my expenses so far. I would have never been able to afford ivf without it.

Prayingforbfp - Glad to hear you are on your way! Best of luck to you.

Chris - thanks for all your support...what would we do without you?????

Hope everyone has a great fridged day!

Well I only have 3 follicles within range.....DH wants to go to retrieval anyway. I really wanted at least four, but I guess we will go with only 3. I'm so concerned that none will fertilitize.

only 3 or 4 eggs on day 6 of stims...

Post by pixelgirl »

well this morning my u/s was somewhat disappointing for me. the doc immediately said something like "not very many eggs" as he was poking around in there. in the end he said i only had 3-4 that were in the range they were supposed to be. today is day 6 of my stims and he said they typically like to see at least 6 or 7.

both him and the nurse sort of gave me the "this isn't what we were hoping for" vibe which concerns me but then they went into their "but it's still early in the stims..." canned speech so it's hard to read too much into it all at this point. sounds like i'll know more on monday at my next appt.

they will call later today to give me the results of my bloodwork. at this point i think i'm in danger of having them cancel it unless i can cough up some more eggs quick.

my dh and i are pretty set on only doing this once and if it doesn't work, just living child-free and taking lots of tropical vacations so if this one is cancelled i think we may get the closure we've been praying for, even if it is not the closure we were hoping for... sigh...

Good Morning ladies:

Pixelgirl, I hope they do not have to cancel your cycle. I was going to cancel my last cycle because I only had 4 follies, but you never know my baby might have been one of them. Remember it only takes one...

Karen Great Beta, These Beta numbers can drive you nuts, don't worry though, some babies just release more then others, I am sure you are fine..I just got my 3rd beta result.. Mine are
10dp5dt 405
12dp5dt 924
14dp5dt 2255.7

That is a 1331 jump in 37.29 hrs.. But all is good as I am sure is with your great beta too.

Kas, I have leftover Cetrotide if you need it, but everything else is gone..Let me know. If you need it, it is yours.......

Gina, How are you feeling?

JDC - It is such a hard decision with 3 follicles. There is always a chance that all 3 have really good eggs in them. We know you can get PG so that is a plus. I think I would definatly go for ER and ET. You usually have a hard time getting eggs so if you did cancel there is no saying that you would have a perfect cycle last time. It is so hard but heck you got PG last time with only 2 fertilized embies so there is no reason why that can't happen next time.

Kas - What is a "savings account"? I don't think I have ever had one. Oh I think I do, I put money in it and then in the next few weeks I have to take it right back out. Though I can't blame it all on IVF seeing I only have to pay for drugs. I am just a bad person with money. I have way too many clothes, shoes and having 2 car payments just for myself doesn't help. One of these days I will grow up and learn how to save. Glad you have found a way to get some drugs. I would have hated to see you cancel this cycle because of money. Glad you liked the thermometer guy. I found that during the summer time and loved it, knew there would be a day it would come in handy.

Pixi - I don't know why RE's give such a drastic outlook so early. Some people are just really slow stimmers. Next time you go in there is a possibility that you will have some more. Just give it a little more time. Are you out of pocket or do you have insurance. If you don't get a lot of follies, you could always change it into an IUI and try another round of iVF later with different drugs. They always say that the 1st IVF is an experiment to see how your body reacts to drugs.

Karen - Great Beta, Relax and stop worrying. Yes, it might be higher then usual, you might have 2 brewing. Read back on TooBee's post last Aug, her beta's were really high and she was having a hard time with it, and it turned out that she had triplets. Please, Please relax and enjoy being PG.

Much Hope - I see that you are doing good. I am still so happy that this worked for you.

LadyJ - Like it was stated in PP, a lot of people only put back 2 embies and get BFP's. There is no reason why it can't work for you.

prayin4BFP - Glad DH's Tese went well. I really think your DH is a trooper for doing that. I really don't know if my DH would go that far. Your bra story was really funny. Good luck on starting stims!!!

jandc33 - How are you doing? When do you go in for your transfer?

mrs.cutter & wishing4baby - Looks like you gals will be our next BFP. What a great Thanksgiving present. Mrs. cutter, did you POAS? I would think after Monday or Tuesday you might see something. Just don't get down if it doesn't show a positive. Lots of people don't see a positive till the day of their Beta.

Foreverlove - did you get to start stims? When is your next appointment?

Mally - Haven't heard from you in a while. Are you in the 2ww now?

Hope everyone else is doing well. I decided to up my dosage again of Lupron. I went back down to 10 u after my 2nd U/S showed my follie when my got bigger. This is my hail mary, it will either work or it won't. If it does hopefully I won't be too suppressed but we will deal with that hurdle if and when it gets here.

thanks elida :D i did more research about beta doubling times and then got worried- as in "85 % of normal pg's, beta's double every 48-72 hours",
(regardless of singleton or mulitiple pg's)...and mine doubled every 37.3 hours....

then i heard that 'molar' pg's can cause unusual rapid increase in beta scores. but no one said what 'rapid' usually was... so i freaked out. but i've found 1 person who says in molar's beta's increase 4-100 times faster..so i don't qualify for that.

and elida- you and i increased the same amount!!! and i think you're fine, so why wouldn't i be ? :D :D

in a nutshell... i'm crazy

jdc- i'm glad your dh is certain about going to er....maybe you need to just rely on his intuition right now. it's is often our best advisor.

pixelgirl...don't let those re's and their expectations freak you out.. they are scientists and we can be miracle-makers...miracles don't fit with their text books.

chris :D i soooo hope upping your lupron helps... i'm glad you're so proactive in doing what you can to make this your time.

kas- my heart's breaking for you.. i don't have any meds. if i did, they'd be yours.. and what is that type of account you're talking about

prayin- i admire your dh..this must be very hard on his ego. men are so sensitive about all this when their parts are involved. and that's an invasive procedure.. i have to say- it must be nice for you insome ways that he's REALLY going through this too..

ladyj- so maybe i missed it, but when are you going to et with those 2 embies?? have they been dividing ok?

and jan- do you have ET monday?

foreverlove...i too think that 1 ovary will produce for you :) why wouldn't it? the desire to have this can bring amazing results..i feel like an example of that, as many things have not been on my side from a 'scientific' standpoint..

love to all...sorry i didnt respond personally to everyone., but you're all in my prayers, karen

Hi all -- wishing everyone well - sorry these days i haven't been able to keep up but I've been watching everyone and rooting for you!!!

Congrats Gina!

fingers crossed to have fun...

and Karen... My beta doubling rate was also like... 38 hours. I went from 166 on 9 days past 5dt to 6100 on 17 days past 5dt.. so my doubling time was like 38. My RE was really happy with that and said maybe twins.... what happens some time is that one of the twins (or triplets) implants later so it doesn't really show on the first beta as much as it should... and then catches up in that first week or so.... at least that's what I understood, and when you have betas w/ a week apart (slight torture) it makes your doubling rate seem really fast....

anyway.... I'll have my u/s tomorrow so i'll let you know if everything is okay and then HOPEFULLY that will reassure both of us!!

thanks sooo much sloan.. :D i'm feeling much better and more confident i'm in the 'normal' range- i had also wondered about implantation time with twins like you said, and how that can effect betas.. I SO WANT TWINS... let us know about your u/s. i'm very excited for you!!

and thanks chris- i looked up toobee's posts and her doubling times were 32 and 35 hours!! so i'm feeling much better- actually like i should CELEBRATE, not worry.

love to all karen.
