I have now had three PIO shots and I promise none of them hurt. The 2nd one I could feel the med going in a bit but it wasn't bad at all. I have yet to feel the actual needle enter. I'm convinced it's the ice. I use an ice pack -- one of those gel freezing things you get like from the chiropractor. I ice the area for at least 10 min. I wondered if last night I would feel more because we went from 1/2 cc up to 1 cc but I'm thrilled to report that I felt nothing. When I draw it up each night I think "tonight is the night it will hurt" Again, I really think it's the ice that numbs the area so well.BakersBaby wrote:Nancy - I am TERRIFIED about the PIO shots. I think I will try the ice too once I get to that point. Did you use ice packs or loose ice? How long did you leave it on there for? I too think I will have the nurse draw some circles. Terrified! I read DH your post.....he laughed and told me that if I believed your post then he'd sell me ocean front property in Montana. He's a peach....
I have to say that I am so happy our clinic uses suppositories! I was doubtful the first two cycles so I had my progesterone tested regularly... and it was always excellent. I had one hcg shot via IM before I found my clinic, and the nurse had to chase me across the room to stab me in the hip with that needle... and I was squealing. I don't like it one bit! Hats off to you ladies who do it daily - my total admiration!NancyB wrote:I have now had three PIO shots and I promise none of them hurt. Our clinic requires an IVF class too. I think there were 5 or 6 couples in our class. I, too, enjoyed the class. Lots of great info. etc....
We were told yesterday that our embies were doing well and we are on track for a 5dt. I won't hear anything else until we go in Tuesday. ugh That's just cruel, isn't it!
Okay. I really gotta get going or we're gonna be late for church. Check back in later.
Nancy
Welcome to the crazy side of ttc. I think we all know how you feel - you aren't alone. What do you do for work? I'd go nuts without the distraction. There are no real signs you can rely on. The meds will simulate pregnancy symptoms - can't rely on them, and if you are going to hpt test - make SURE your trigger is gone before you take anything as a positive test. Most you can do is relax and have good thoughts. How many embies did you transfer and what stage were they?Amesy wrote:Hey Everyone!
Please keep me sane I am two days in after my ET I am testing on Friday 5th November.
This is my first cycle and I feel like I can't stop worrying about whether it's still there!!![]()
I am off work for two weeks as my work see's me as too high a risk!
Please please anyone with any advise or guidance or signs that things are ok .......?![]()
Osi - the sore breasts are from the trigger, and possibly the progesterone. It's not going to get much better until it's out of your system. I'm hoping your transfer goes perfectly.Osi wrote:Klingar - good luck today, I am praying for you
Nancy - Woo hoo on your 5day! Tuesday is just around the corner
Macfamily and Kaylie - great news that everything is going to plan. toes are crossed for you, eat healthy and take it easy.
Margi - I am drinking loads, me amd the toilet are best friends. I think you should go on Thursday, one day should not make that much of a different, then go and let your hair down in NY
Bakersbaby/karen -I am doing the AF dance for you too. I remember waiting for my AF it was a nightmare
Kaylee - I hope to get some to frosties for brother or sister or even another try without the extra stress of injections and hospital visits. Hoping and praying
AFM - I have my appointment tomorrow for 3dt, however the hopsital will call in the morning to let me know if it would be a 5dt. I am feeling ok, still a bit sore and constispated. My boobies are killing me, the pain is getting worse every day. Is that good or bad? DH is watching football and making so much noise. I have been planning our 10yr wedding blessing, its not until 2013 but its my excuse for another wedding!
welcome! what do you do for work? it's difficult to tell w/ signs as they may be side effects of progesterone. how many did you transfer & was it a 3dt or 5dt?Amesy wrote:Hey Everyone!

icing the area before the injection helps b/c it numbs the area. but what i do w/ the pio is put it into my bra to warm it up from my body heat. then after the injection, i walk for about 10 minutes, shower, & sit on a heating pad.leorira11 wrote:idk - I've always heard that ice makes the PIO even WORSE. Heat, I've heard, is better. The reason the PIO shots are such a pain is because oil is much thicker and more viscous than the water in the regular injections. Ice (cold) makes the oil even thicker and makes it take even longer to spread out. Heat (heating the area and/or the syringe) helps the oil go in smoother and spread around faster.
(I've always done suppositories or progesterone in ethyl oelate injections - much better on the bum!)
