Hi Em, thanks a lot for your information!!
And Congraturation for wonderful success on your treatment!!
Twins sounds wonderful, please take care of yourself...!! :D

I'd like to ask more questions,,,

Is the cost you mentioned ($1,500) covered by both private insurance and medicare?

I heard that somebody had IVF treatment in Public Hospital in Australia, and it costs much cheaper than private, However, when I called Wesley hospital, the coordinater person told me there is no IVF treatment at Public Hospital in Australia.... Is that true?? So, in Royal Women's Hospital, Mater, they don't provide IVF treatment? I'm a bit confused. Does anybody have any comments on this?

Thanks a lot,

Mango

Hi Mango - just a quick one as I have to go to a meeting. Basically go to the Medicare website and read up about the medicare safety net - once your out of pocket med expenses reach $1000 you are entitled to about 80% rebate of others - this is for things like dr's appmt, scans, blood tests.

Stays in hospital are different - that where your private health insurance can come in if you stay in a private hospital. It's a very confusing system we have here - but I think v good compared to other countries.

Also once you find a clinic - get the accounts dept to explain how it all works - mine did here in Mel and they were very helpful. Good luck. :D

Hi Mango,
Welcome to this site and to the aussie kiwi thread. As I think you've already seen, the women here are incredibly supportive and will help you out with all stages of the fertility rollercoaster!

I'm a Brissy girl as well, we have a two year old who was the result of a FET cycle and a four month old who was a natural conception ( a bit of a shock really!!!). We went through QFG like Em and were extremely happy with them. They have the second best success stats in Australia after Sydney IVF and some excellent facilities. I went through Marianne Ilbury who was lovely, she is gentle and kind and conservative which we liked. Warren deAmbriosis is kind of a guru of the fertility world and a QFG doctor, he has excellent results and a high multiple rate apparently!! Good on you for doing your homework, it's a big (expensive) decision..

All the best to all
B

Hi Belb,

Thank you for your information, yes, I'm so happy that i found this site. All of you are very supportive, and helpful.
QFG seems to be wonderful institution. After all, I called Wesley since one of my friends recommended me (she was successful there). We don't know yet if we decide to start treatment there, but we will see.

Information you all gave me are so helpful, thanks again!!!

Good luck to you all!!

hi Mango,

We had private cover which covered our hospital expenses and then had the medicare safetynet cover the other parts. Dr Lingard doesn't charge above the private rate for his "in theatre" procedures (pick up and transfer) so we only had to pay our excess ($300) and then the gap on the anaesthetist ($150). The expensive part we found was the drugs which aren't covered by medicare or our private insurance. The progesterone pessaries I had to use for the first 12 weeks after transfer were $3 each and I used 2 a day!!!!!

Welcome Cheeky one! Who are you using in Brissy? Keep us posted about your upcoming FET.

Love Em

Hi Guys Back Again,
Welcome Gargy Mango Polly and Cheekymonkey
I know you guys will all find the aussie and kiwi thread a great support and if theres anything I can help out with i'd be glad to. Iv'e had two Ivf cycles and 3IUI's I fell pregnant on the 1st IVf Cycle but miscarried and again fell pregnant on the 2nd IVf with twins but lost one I now have a 4and half month old boy named Jacob. I went to QFG Brisbane same as BelB my doctor was Doc Molloy I also found it to be a great place I actually have and appointment on the 30th of this month to see about a brother or hopefully a sister for Jacob and will most likely be doing a FET at the end of Feb as I still have Four frosties to use.

Bel how are you and your girls ellie must be becoming quite mobile now rolling about ?

Tiger I hope I read right that your jumping back on the band wagon later this year like belb said this is your year so pma coming your way.

As everyone says Baby dust to you all especially you tiger when your time comes around.

Just a question

Post by cheekyone »

hi kiwis and aussies
Just a question if anyone knows but if you start with one clinic for a couple of stimulations and you've now got 7 frozen eggs. And I wanted to go to another clinic can u get the eggs transferred or whats the protocol. I don't want to ask the clinic i feel a bit guilty over the issue of going to another clinic. Also when you've had a bfn how long is too long before you get your period. As I got my period just before I got the bfn on Dec 14 and am still waiting for my second period before I start my fet in feb. and no im not pregnant as i've take a heap of hpt :x

Hi all
Hope everyone had a good australia day anyone do anything exciting. Hey cheeky sorry I don't know what happens when you want to transfer I'm sure they could move them could you not ring the centre you want to move to tell them you want to change clinics and ask the question if it is possible to move them safely or not and then go from there. As for the arrival of AF from memory I think I went 6 to 8 weeks with out Af after my M/C I know its not the same but I'd say your body is just adjusting was it a fresh cycle last time I know if it gets to long your doctor can actually bring your period on but I think at this point your still with in a normal range. If your still worried though your could ring your clinic just to see what they say.
Hope this helps Take care

hi Guys,

just checking in to see what news. Phoar! Its a bloody stinker up here in Brisvegas! Just took Darcy-Dog to the park and made it only 1 lap around before I was soaked in sweat and begging DH for water/ice-cream/aircon/swimming pool!

Happy hot days everyone!

Oh,

Can everyone do me a favour and if you know when the Discovery Channel is screening "Twins in the Womb" can you let me know. I saw it advertised as something that was coming to the channel but no dates as yet. I am desperate to see it!

Thanks, Em
