I am in NC and the wait here is 6 months for ed. Once we get the test back on this last baby we lost, we will know if it's me or if it was simply chromosomal. The last one was chromosomal but nothing unusual with dh or me except the whole aging thing. They tested us for that genetic inherited mutation. The doctor said if it's me then i may have picked some kind of antibody up that needs to be treated. After having 3 miscariages total and one failed ivf I am ready for the ed strategy next. You women are amazing and I hope I can find stength in your positive attitudes.

Gigi I am happy to have another US person!!! though we love our sisters across the water!! I am in Wisconsin! My clinic has its own donors so the wait isn't a issue except she has to do the screening and down regulation and I hate waiting I like to be doing something and the pill doesn't cut it Are there other clinics in your area? Sometimes they don't have the wait yours might, but 6 months isn't bad, I read on this thread that England you have to wait years that just seems wrong. At least the boards make the wait a little easier
Okay if everyone didn't notice I LOVE emoticons---seriously how did we live with out them??

good evening ladies,
glad to hear about other women choosing donor eggs. Was hard to swallow at first-but really want the end result. Advanced maternal age w/a less than 5% shot with my own eggs. Running out of time so went immediately w/IVF donor eggs. I went through a "broker"- hospital did not have donors. I absolutely hate the waiting, drives me nuts. Going for testing this month & hope to start protocol in May/June so can't get on any threads yet. So many questions. Have any of you told family/friends re: your decision to use donor eggs? Are you getting enough support? Love to hear your stories too.
Keep the faith!
Sabi
Your odds are the same as mine. We must be around the same age. We have 2 children. One conceived naturally with some special needs and the other was IVF and is healthy. We want to expand our famiy so our son with special needs has love and support when we are gone one day. Not too much to ask from the big guy. We are definitely not sharing with anyone about this because this child will have siblings. We are not even telling our closest friends. I will believe this child is from me with the help of another loving person and that is it. I would never want the child to feel different. The studies I read online concurred with our decision. Most people using ed and having other children never tell the other child conceived with ed because they don't want them to feel different. However, people need to do what is best for their situation. I am a counselor and totally realize that what works for some does not work for others.
What are you going to do? I'd love to hear what other women are doing and how they feel once giving birth. From what I have read, a mother wouldn't do anything differently even if they could once they have that beautiful baby with the help of ed. That sums it all up for me. The child conceived with ed is the child that they are suppose to mother. Beautiful isn't it?

Gigi,
Thanks for the reply. I am 43 my dh is 41. Married 4yrs. No children. Was impatient after trying naturally for a short time went to infertility seminar prompted me to make an appt. Clomid challenge during holidays found out FSH level to high on Dec 31st. Crushing news. I never thought I would go de route. Re-grouped & decided to ask sis for help. Mistake. The cat is out of the bag now. Needed assistance from bro-in-law too. Sis is not well enough to donate- crushed again. Surfed the web for egg donors-expensive!! The donor is proven & actually lives in the area-what a blessing. I live in Ohio by the way. If I could turn back the clock I would. I wouldn't of told a soul. This baby is going to be mine no question about it. Pretty popular thing right now. Pretty obvious if I end up w/twins. Positive thoughts!!! I think that's a good decision to keep it hush hush. I'm just starting this process & was looking for support when I found these boards. I love them! If you have any input, thoughts or advice on the IVF procedure since I'm a newbie please share. I feel empowered with all the info I'm getting. Thanks again!! I love your attitude about ed!

As the days go on we will all get to know each other pretty well. Glad that you joined us. I am currently on DE wait list. I've had my share of IVF's, chemical pregnancies and m/c. The decision to go to DE was a good one. Yes, it has its emotional challenges. I'm in therapy with DH and have found this to be very helpful for us. IF can take a toll on us emotionally, physically and relationship-wise. Meeting the girls here has been a blessing. Be strong and don't give up.
Hi Carolyn, great lining news. Thinking of you. Glad you are bringing lap top so you can stay connected with us.
Hey Summer, how's it going? How are you feeling?
Hi Kelly, LuAnne & Jenbabes.
I'm getting ready to go to a mozerella making demonstration and then lunch. Sounds yummy, huh?
Chriss,
I agree, takes a toll all the way around. Do you have any children? Are you sharing de info? How long is the wait? I imagine it's through the hospital.
The wait at UH in Ohio looked to be about 3 mos. Coordinator said candidates are dropping like flies(cost) & donors are pouring in. Is that the case in NY? Moving forward w/tears & laughter depending upon the day of course. Counseling is the way to go. Gotta keep your mind healthy. Have you done any yoga & is there any truth in the acupuncture, read a lot about it on this website. Thanks for your support. Thank god for you veterans helping us out. Enjoy your lunch! Tiding up around the house & keeping busy today. Have a great weekend & keep in touch! I wish you all the best!
Sabi
Welcome Sabi,
sounds like you will be getting started relatively soon! Wishing you lots of luck!
After 3 failed ivf cycles, I am currently pregnant after our 1st try using DE! We had our tmt in Prague and the clinic we used matched us with a donor. I am 44 and DH is 50. We've been married for 5 years. Only my mom knows about the DE, and only some of our immediate family (SIL & sis) know about our attempts with ivf. We've kept things as private as possible. I don't have any other children. From those who know, all have been incredibly supportive through all of the ups and downs that this process can bring, not to mention DH, who has been just amazing.
I did practice yoga and had accupuncture during my tries with ivf, to no avail -- for my DE cycle, I was just myself and that seemed to work best for me. Everyone is different.
poohgirl - how did the testing go on your donor? when are you scheduled to begin your cycle?
gigi - when do you get started?
chriss - nice to see you around! Hope you enjoyed the cheesemaking demo and then lunch -- sounded like fun! you lucked out today! I am well, but always unsure if everything is okay, because I hardly have any obvious symptoms. Just hoping my body has adjusted well to my current condition. I go for my next scan on Thursday and am hoping for another nice picture to take home.
Welcome again to everyone joining this thread! Looking forward to getting to know you better and support you on your journey.
kelly, jenb, luanne, & carolyn - thinking of you girls!
Summerbaby,
Yeah!!!!!!!! Great news! Congrats!!!I'm so excited for you& DH! How far along are you?
Wow!! Hope! Love to hear the good news. As you know I'm just starting the process but I've felt disappointment & dismay like I've never had. I thought I could conceive on my own at 42 what was I thinking.... Yes, donor eggs is the way to go if your eggs won't cooperate (haha!) I'm blessed to have the option really. No complaints. I find the acupuncture theory interesting... I think I'm going for the yoga - have a tape just sitting around think I'll give it a try. Glad you're getting the support you need-really makes a difference.
Thanks for your input & taking the time to write a real "newbie". I'm so grateful that I found this website - you ladies are amazing!!!
Summerbaby, Kelly, jenb luann & carolyn(I recognize you cutie!!) hello & thank you for including me in this very special group!!
Much Love,
Sabi
I've pretty much tried it all. I stopped accupuncture because it was getting so expensive. I continue to do yoga but only 1X/week. I work out regularly and eat right. Read lots of books and try to remain sane:) Therapy has been one of the best things for me. I really feel the difference.
I like Summer's philosophy. It's so easy to get caught up in it all.
I do not have children yet. But I will:)
I am currently on the DE wait list at my clinic. It's a 6-12 month wait. I am in good standing right now. My time is coming.
Many people know that we've done many IVF's. But we have kept the DE on the downlow. We plan to tell the child for sure. Others... we will wait and see. You can not UN-Tell.
I'm glad that you joined us. It's great to have support. We are always there for each other. And... we understand. We do.
Thanks for responding Summer and Chris. It's true about the "Untell." I read that somewhere also.
Our wait is 6 months and we still may have one more go at trying naturally with my eggs. Go EGG! If it works, great. If not, we move on with ED. OUr doc said we should go for it as long as I can deal with another mc.
I did AP for a while. I actually got pregnant 3 times without it and didn't get pregnant with the IVF that I did it...Eating healthy and exercise is my key. Once I start a low fat and rich in veggie diet, I get pregnant. Seriously, that has been my secret for pregnancy. It's the egg quality that I can't control though.

Good morning ladies!
Sunny & chilly in Ohio this am-forecasting snow. Thanks for all the feedback.
What kind of books are you reading? Is the book by Zita West pretty informative- Fertility & Conception? I find the exercise helps too. How much folic acid is too much? Is it ok to take folic acid & prenatal vitamins together or is the folic acid in the vitamin enough? Ladies on the wait: after my 1st appt this month I'll give you the play by play it's a 3-4 appt. My egg donor has her appt in the next week or so- so if everything checks out w/her- we have ours. Don't you love the waiting????? Glad to find all of you. Have a terrific day!! Anybody doing something fun or special today? do share.
Here's hoping that the time passes like the speed of sound!
Sabi
Welcome to Gigi, Sabi and Poohgirl - glad to have more newbies to the board! It is nice for everyone to have lots of support as they go through this stage!
Just to give you a quick background on me... I did 9 rounds of IVF, the last one being DE. I had two chemical pregnancies along the way but my first round of DE was the lucky one. I now have my two gorgeous babies and couldn't love them anymore if they were genetically mine. There is something about carrying them for 9 months that makes them yours and then when you see them for the first time there is absolutely no question as to the connection you feel towards them. I keep telling myself that my failed IVF cycles were meant to be because these two babies are the children I was meant to have - and it makes no difference whose egg created them because they are 100% me and my husband!!!
As for telling, the only person who knows is my mom and she is sworn to secrecy. We don't plan on telling anyone. I know there are pros and cons either way, but my husband really would like not to tell anyone so I am agreeable to that - I could go either way.
Carolyn, all the best to you! I can't wait to hear how it goes. I have a VERY good feeling about this for you! 2009 started off great and it is going to continue, I just know it!
Summer - how are you feeling?
Chris - great to hear from you too! I am sure that your waitlist time is going to fly by and soon enough you are going to be the one in the 2ww!
Thinking of you guys!

1 FET cycle - BFN
9th IVF cycle - BFP!! Twins born Sept 18/08
Trying again May 2010!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am so happy for your joy. It sounds like that carrying those little ones and being the one to deliver them and then ultimately raise them from day one on with the help of your hubby can only allow you to feel complete intimacy with them. It is so wonderful to hear your story. Be blessed!
